Life In Full Bloom

Be the Reason Another Woman Believes Her Best Years Are Still Ahead

October 19, 2026

Have you ever stopped to think that something you do, something you say, or simply the way you live your life might inspire another woman without you even realising it?

I’ve been thinking about this lately, and it’s a message I want to share with my wonderful community of women living well after 50.

Learning to embrace who we are

Here’s me, makeup-free, out enjoying the world and happy to show up just as I am. At 69, I’m learning that confidence isn’t about looking perfect or trying to meet someone else’s expectations. It’s about becoming comfortable with who we are and embracing the woman we’ve grown into.

Of course, that doesn’t mean we stop caring about our appearance or enjoying a little pampering. I love discovering new styles, trying different things and finding what makes me feel good. But there’s a difference between doing these things because we enjoy them and feeling that we have to change ourselves to be accepted.

I’m discovering that the freedom to be ourselves is one of the lovely things about getting older.

The power of inspiring one another

Sometimes, when we make a change, step outside our comfort zone or try something new, we give another woman the courage to do the same.

It might be changing our hairstyle, wearing something we’ve always wanted to wear, starting a new hobby, travelling somewhere different or finally pursuing a dream we’ve put aside for years.

We don’t have to be experts, role models or have everything figured out. We simply need to be willing to live our lives authentically and share our experiences.

We never really know who might be watching, quietly wondering whether it’s too late for them to make a change of their own.

A kind word, a little encouragement or seeing another woman embrace a new chapter might be just the reassurance she needs.

Let’s make this week count

As we begin another week, I’d love us to think about two simple things.

First, what’s one thing we could do for ourselves this week? It doesn’t need to be a grand plan. Perhaps it’s trying something new, making time for something we enjoy, stepping outside our comfort zone or simply giving ourselves permission to slow down.

Second, how could we encourage another woman?

Maybe there’s a friend who needs reminding of her strengths, a woman who’s taking a brave new step, or someone who simply needs to hear that she’s doing well. Never underestimate the power of telling another woman something wonderful about herself.

Imagine the difference we could make if we all made a little more effort to lift one another up rather than compare ourselves or feel we have to compete.

Our best years can still be ahead of us

I believe there’s so much possibility in this stage of life. We are still learning, growing, changing and discovering new things about ourselves.

Our lives don’t have to look a certain way because we’ve reached a particular age. We can redefine ourselves, follow new interests and decide what happiness, confidence and fulfilment mean to us.

And perhaps, by doing that, we can help another woman see those possibilities for herself, too.

So, here’s my little reminder for this week:

Be the reason another woman believes her best years are still ahead of her.

Let’s encourage each other, celebrate our differences and remember that we don’t have to be extraordinary to make a difference. Sometimes, simply being ourselves is enough.

Your turn

I’d love to hear from you.

What’s one way you could encourage another woman this week?

Share your thoughts in the comments. You never know who might need to read your words today.

Until next time….

This is such a timely post Sue and says it all perfectly! I’ve got a busy week coming up but I’ll make sure I try hard to lift someone else up along the way. You are such a kind, caring and generous person, many thanks for being my friend!!

Deb, you always lift others, even when you don’t realise it. Just a photo of you (especially in orange), brightens our day. You bring colour to my life and I value our friendship. xx

You know, it takes so little effort to make someone feel good. I often compliment a stranger on a color that I think looks good on her, or a great hair style. You see the other woman just shine!

Hello Dorothy, I totally agree with you and I love seeing the reaction when I compliment a stranger. You are right they shine and then we do too. xx

I love this post, Sue! All too often we see women tearing other women down when we do need to lift them up! I try to sincerely compliment women for whatever…sometimes their smiles, their eyes, whatever. I’m always surprised at how they react though I think I probably do the same. Here’s to the last year of our sixties! The best is yet to come!

Hi Marsha, this blog post was actually prompted by negative comments. I can’t believe how women can be so critical of others and I would like to think they are in the minority. It doesn’t take much to make someone’s day and in turn enrich your life. Yes, last year of our sixties, I can’t believe it! xx

I love hearing from you and your comments are important to me
