It’s time to put the focus on your health and well-being and what better way than participating in Women’s Health Week – September 3 -7.
Promoted by Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, an Australian national not-for-profit organisation, the campaign has been a part of the Australian health calendar since 2013.
“By signing up you’ll receive free health tips, recipes, videos, podcasts and more, aimed at inspiring you to live a healthier life,” says Jean Hailes director Janet Michelmore AO.

Most women spend much of their adult life putting family first and forget about their own health. We need to remember to put our own oxygen mask on before we help others. That includes making time for health appointments as well as keeping active and eating a well balanced diet.
Did you know that the two biggest barriers for women not maintaining a healthy lifestyle are ‘lack of time’ and ‘not making health a priority’?
The Women’s Health Week wants to change all of that and encourages women to join with their friends to put the focus back on their health.
‘The first wealth is health’
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Self-investment is the best investment we can make. This means investing in our health and well-being and making this a priority in our life.
#MyHealthFirst
Part of Women’s Health Week is the social media campaign #MyHealthFirst which encourages women to start putting their health first and make positive changes.
Join women of all ages and share your selfie on your favourite social media platform and show that you are putting good health first. Use the hashtags #MyHealthFirst, #WomensHealthWeek and tag @JeanHailes
Over the next few weeks I will be writing about ways we can all improve our health and well-being. It’s time to put yourself and your health first.
After all we only have one body, so we need to look after ourselves.
Will you sign up to be part of Women’s Health Week and make your health a priority?
Why not grab your sister, daughter, granddaughter or friend to join you?

What an awesome initiative! Thank you for this excellent reminder. Richard and I have just finished a whirlwind tour visiting his three siblings and my parents. That trip was also a stark reminder that health must be a priority, never forget to be grateful for what we have and enjoy life NOW!
Hi Donna! It is a great initiative and you know my philosophy about keeping fit and active as we age. Sometimes, we put others first and forget about our own health so I don’t believe it hurts to be reminded. I hope you had a lovely time with Richard’s family. Enjoy xx
Looking forward to following your posts on this!
Thanks Janet! It is a great initiative and reminder for us all.
It’s so great to see Women’s Health getting put towards the front more these days isn’t it Sue? I think women so often put their own needs last and we can’t afford to keep doing that – especially as our bodies start to age a little – we need to focus on what makes us feel fitter and healthier and functioning on our best level.
It is great, Leanne and I believe our generation is finally realising that we need to put ourselves first and also put the oxygen mask on before others. The following generations will benefit from our teachings and our learnings from life and that includes keeping fit and active to enjoy life xx
In honour of this post, I’m putting on my jacket and going for a quick walk! Use it or lose it.
Oh good for you, Christine! 🙂
Women health is really a major concern which needs to be given prior importance and awareness can help in doing so.Good initiative. I’ll follow up the post on health week.
We do tend to put others health and well being before our own, Menaka that is why I thinking Women’s Health Week is a great initiative.
Thanks Sue, I’ve signed up!
