Wellness Reimagined: A Mid-Year Reset to Reflect & Realign

June 2, 2025
Wellness Reimagined link up

Can you believe May has gone and we are now into June. That is almost mid-way through another year. How has your first six months progressed? Are you happy with your health and wellbeing? Do you feel you are blooming or are you starting to fade and lose your bloom?

As we reach the midpoint of the year, it’s the perfect time to pause and check in—with ourselves, our goals, and how we’re feeling.

For me, this year began with our usual running goals and intention: to train for and complete a half marathon. Yesterday, I achieved that goal and it was extra special running with my daughter, Rachel and good running friend, Caz. Crossing the finish line, (we all held hands as we crossed), wasn’t just about the distance—it was about honouring our strength, discipline, and the belief that we can continue to set and achieve meaningful goals, no matter our age. It was about motivating each other to keep going and we also had a good friend who was our cheerleader on the sideline cheering us on.

I felt so good during and after the race and surprise myself that at 67 I’m capable of running this distance. We have entered another half-marathon in August, so the training continues.

That experience reminded me of the power of progress and why reflection matters. At almost 68 (in August), I’m reminded—and deeply grateful—for a strong body that carries me through life with energy and resilience. I am living life in full bloom, despite the days when ‘life happens’ or ‘I’m not feeling as inspired to run or workout’ or the days when my mood is low. Life isn’t perfect and neither are we.

Mid-year isn’t about starting over. It’s about reflecting on what’s working, releasing what’s not, and realigning with what truly matters to you right now.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want more of in the second half of the year?
  • What am I ready to let go of?
  • How do I want to feel as I move forward?

This is a gentle nudge to slow down and reconnect with your own rhythm. I did this last month, when Mike and I took time out for a week at Caloundra to reflect, relax and recharge. In a previous Wellness Reimagined post I wrote about Wellness Reimagined: Cultivating Harmony for a Life in Full Bloom and more recently in my weekly newsletter, about living a Tapas Lifestyle.

I’m not stepping back from life but rather I’m trying to find harmony to enjoy a variety of activity, rest, relaxation and learning. One of my new habits which I have found to be so liberating is my ‘No Social Media’ Sundays. I don’t scroll, I don’t post (well I have posted a couple of things for good reasons), I read, I walk in nature or do some yoga, I spend time with my love and my family. I switch off and it is a wonderful way to prepare for the coming week.

Ready to Refresh but not sure where to start? I’ve created a simple 5-Day Reset to help you pause, reflect, and bloom—your way. Each day offers a gentle prompt and space to journal. You can start anytime, no pressure, no rules—just a little guidance to reset with intention.

Whether you’ve been thriving, surviving, or somewhere in between, this is your moment to breathe, realign, and choose your next step.

You don’t have to do it all.
You just have to begin—right where you are.

Wellness is not a destination. It’s not defined by numbers or goals. It’s the way we show up for ourselves—every day, in every season of life.

You’ve already come so far. Take a moment to celebrate that.

Here’s to the next six months—reimagined, renewed, and rooted in what matters most to you

Sue, good advice here. I agree it’s always a good idea to check and reset. I love your 5 day reset guide. Will sit with it later, when I have time to give it some thought. I’m sure it will be helpful when looking forward to plans for the rest of the year.

Hi Jen, I want to expand on the 5 day reset guide when I time but a short guide is a good starting point. Enjoy your time away xx

Hi, Sue: Your reflections are always so grounding and inspiring. Congratulations on completing the half-marathon yesterday, and already signing up for the next one. It’s wonderful that you are able to share this with Rachel and Caz. I love the idea of a mid-year check-in as a chance to realign, not restart. Your approach to wellness—gentle, intentional, and full of grace—is a perfect reminder to pause and honour where we are. <3

Hi Donna you always right such uplifting comments and I appreciate your kind words. I think we all inspire each other. Sunday was certainly a highlight of 2025 for me, running with Rachel is always special. xx

I love those three questions, Sue! I’m ready to let go of not having the strongest body I can. I’m going to check out a gym just down the road this week (between P/T appointments for Mike). I’m determined to make these last years of my 60s the best!

I do like the idea of a ‘tapas life’.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2025 at 16:09

I do too, Barbara. Once I might have scoffed at the idea but I’m much wiser now. Plus I do love a yummy tapas LOL 🙂 x
