Weekend Coffee Share #8

What I’m grateful for – being able to spend Easter with my family after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted

Last week, I wrote that Greater Brisbane went back into 3 day lockdown which threatened to continue over Easter and the School holidays. I was so grateful that the lockdown was lifted at noon on Thursday meaning that Mike and I could travel to Brisbane for dinner with friends on Saturday and a family lunch on Sunday. The Easter bunny still visited and there was an overload of chocolate and sugar highs!

Quotes I liked

This isn’t a quote but I loved this meme that I found on Facebook. Although we are heading into Autumn here in Australia, the ideas can still be transferred to any season. It’s all about self-care every day.

What I did to stay healthy, happy and living well

It was great to get back to a long run with one of my Saturday Sisters last weekend. I’ve not been well and my running schedule has been interrupted. Despite the showers, we managed to get in 15km including a hill and some stairs. I love these weekly runs with my friends. It is a social catchup with a healthy twist – we run and then have a breakfast afterwards.

Do you have an exercise buddy or do you prefer to do your own thing?

World Health Day 2021

Holistic Approach to a Healthy Lifestyle After 50
Staying healthy physically, mentally and spiritually

The 7th April was World Health Day and I shared 10 ways to Take a Holistic Approach to a healthy lifestyle

What I’m proud of

The importance of sharing our achievements

Okay, I’m not Oprah but I was pretty proud of myself and my podcast hitting 4,000 downloads during the week. It was a huge step for me to launch the podcast back in August last year. I had the usual ‘mean girl’ thoughts that plagued me and threatened my self-confidence, but I pushed through and made it happen!

Despite a hiccup when my MIL died in October, when production was put on hold, Season 2 is going well and I just love meeting women from different backgrounds who share their stories. Perhaps you are a Woman Living Well After 50 who has an inspiring story to share – I’d love to hear from you.

I shared this achievement of social media and received this comment from Rachelle Clayton of MEE Active

woohoo!!! So glad you are proud of you! This is an awesome achievement Sue, congrats! 🎉🎉

Rachelle Clayton CEO Mee Active

Her comment brought to my mind that:

It is a natural instinct to highlight our faults or failures but it is so important to believe in ourselves and acknowledge our achievements. It’s all part of #self-love and #Self-acceptance.

What have you done this week to make yourself proud?

New to the Podcast – Micro Mondays started on Monday 5th April

I’ve expanded the podcast to include Micro Mondays – Resetting your Mind, Body & Spirit for the week ahead. Micro Mondays are short, bite sized ‘micro’ episodes with a message.

  • Tips to live well
  • Thought for you to ponder during the week
  • Affirmations & Meditations

All designed to help us grow and continue as Women Living Well After 50. This week’s Micro Monday was an introduction to the series and a topic I’m passionate about – Making It Happen!

Take a listen and then share with me what you did to Make it Happen this week.

Thanks to Natalie from Natalie the Explorer who started this idea earlier in the year. I link up each week with my contribution. It is a great way to record what happens in life, like a diary or journal really and to reflect and be grateful for the good things that happen in my life.

Well that was my week and I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into my life. How was your week? I’d love you to share with me what you have been up to.

Congratulations, Sue, on your podcast achievements! I love how you continue taking care of yourself holistically. I’m glad to hear you got together with friends and family for Easter. I’m proud that I continue to stay healthy and positive despite the long lockdown that started in November 2020 and is still on until at least May 5 in Ontario. Thank you for sharing your updates at #WeekendCoffeeShare.

Congratulations on hitting 4000. You might say you’re no Oprah and I might just be a wee bit biased, but I’d listen to you over her any day. Wishing you a fabulous weekend and in answer to your question, other than my morning walks with hubby, I like to exercise alone. It gives me the space to overthink lol.

Oh you are too lovely, Jo! Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I sometimes like to run or walk on my own for thinking time. I’ve thought of some good ideas from the blog during a long solo run. x

Hi Sue, I just listened to your Micro Mondays podcast and it was great. Your podcast has done so well – congratulations. I was so happy the lockdown didn’t extend over Easter too as we got to spend it with our families. Have a great weekend, I’m so glad your health has improved. Regards Christina

Hi Christina thanks for your positive feedback about the podcast. I’m really enjoying this part of my life, despite only recently being able to get back into it. It has opened up a whole new world of learning for me. Glad you enjoyed your Easter break. Take care xx

Hello Sue, I’m glad your podcast is going so well!! I’m also glad you could spend Easter with friends and family. The week here has been slow with not much happening, because of colder weather mainly. But I’ve also had a good week thinking about my own self care and self love, I was already on the way of “getting my **** together” and changing my mindset about myself already but your post last week made me discover all your previous posts on the topic self worth and self love, and they inspired me tremendously!!! So thank you for that!

Hi Susanne, you’ve made my day with your comment. My purpose for WLWA50 is to inspire other women and it brings me such joy when someone tells me they have been inspired by something I’ve done or written. I’m loving the podcast and very happy with the response from my listeners. Lovely to connect with you and have a beautiful week. xx

Hi Sue, huge congratulations again on your tenacity and ability to bounce back, you are an inspiration to so many midlife women. I’m one of your cheerleaders!

I so appreciate you being one of my cheerleaders, Deb. It means the world to me, so thank you! xx

Yay on the podcast. This reminded me I had wanted to listen. I will be doing that tomorrow morning before going to work. I think it’s important to be proud of ourselves. I haven’t been feeling great “peri-menopause” and my exercising has been way off. I need to find a way to do something even if it’s small.

Hi Sue – I’ll add my congrats again for the 4,000 download mark for your podcasts – Oprah had better watch her back! I love seeing how busy and vibrant your life is and how you manage to fit everything in so effortlessly. Your mean girl inner voice would be fighting a losing battle I’m sure 🙂 xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric April 18, 2021 at 12:40

Hi Leanne, the mean inner girl is still there and some days it is harder to fight her than others but I’m going okay I think. x

Yay you!! I am so proud of all that you have accomplished and the lives you have touched and improved with your uplifting messages.
