Weekend Coffee Share #11
What I’m Grateful for
The week started with taking my husband to the Gold Coast hospital for a Myocardial Perfusion Scan. I am very grateful that Australia has wonderful health care especially for Veterans. Want to know what a Myocardial Perfusion Scan is? It is a nuclear medicine testing scan that shows how the heart muscle is functioning. It is performed in conjunction with a cardiac stress test. Celebrating a 7th birthday
My grandson, Ethan turned 7 this week and as is my tradition I made him a special cake. I will show you the finish product in my next coffee catch up. He wanted a Minecraft cake and I am officially now ‘square-eyed’. This is halfway through. I love making cakes for my grandchildren and as you know I’m a rustic cook but I always cook with love and that is the most important thing, isn’t it?

Quotes I liked

What I did to stay healthy, happy and living well
It’s Friday and a great way to finish the week, training the 6am, 7am and 5:30pm sessions in the Strong Healthy Women Virtual Studio. I also made these images below into a Reel as I was playing with Instagram. You can take a look here

Stronger Core, Stronger Body & Fresh Start challenges
I completed the Strong Healthy Women, Stronger Core, Stronger Body 5 day challenge. Peta provided some important information on what the Core actually is and why it is so important to maintain a strong core, especially as we age.
I also joined in Wendy’s Way to Health Fresh Start challenge and discovered some delicious breakfast recipes which I tried. Bacon and Cheese Muffins, Overnight Oats. On my list to try next is the Banana and Walnut Bread.

Guest Interview on the Podcast – Becoming Fitter & Healthier after 50 with Chris and Jill from Becoming Elli
Like many of us, turning 50 can mean taking a long hard look at our health and discovering that perhaps we aren’t where we would like to be. Menopause, weight gain which seems to creep up on us, loss of muscle strength, and years of looking after others means we aren’t in the best physical or mental shape we could be.
But! It’s never too late to start.
My guests in Conversation are Chris Brown and Jill McCauslin from Becoming Elli an online community, dedicated to becoming and staying fit by gaining strength and having fun at the same time.
I was delighted to chat with them both as a few months ago I was a guest on their podcast Fit Strong Women Over 50
Both Chris and Jill have struggled with weight gain and general loss of fitness. They share their personal journey and how they overcame these challenges which are common to most of us in midlife. We also chatted about the meaning behind the name Becoming Elli and their podcast Fit Strong Women After 50.

Thanks to Natalie from Natalie the Explorer who started this idea earlier in the year. I link up each week with my contribution to her #WeekendCoffeeShare. It is a great way to record what happens in life, like a diary or journal really and to reflect and be grateful for the good things that happen in my life.
Well that was my week and I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into my life. How was your week? I’d love you to share with me what you have been up to.
