Week 3 #my25daycountdowntoahappychristmas

Day 15 – Take a mindfulness walk

We have had torrential rain today so I had to postpone my Mindfulness walk.  However, I did manage to take a lovely stroll by the river later in the week.  I live in such a beautiful city and am always filled with joy when I walk or run by the river.

I looked out for Christmas decorations but these were the only ones I could find on my walk. The Pineapple Hotel is at the end of my street, a neighbour has put some effort in and the local Seventh Day Adventist Church had a nativity scene.  Obviously no one in my neighbourhood has watched the Griswald’s family Christmas movie 🙂

Day 16 – Unplug and reconnect

Week 3 #my25daycountdowntoahappychristmas

After a hectic week including medical tests, it was good to let go of the social media roundabout and take a day to disconnect.  I spent a lovely day relaxing at home.  Started with a facial, then gave myself a mani/pedi, wrapped the Christmas gifts and prepared the Santa Sacks for our grandchildren and finally enjoyed a ‘Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks with Potato Mash’ dinner with my darling.  I felt so relaxed with no pressure to check what was happening in the world of social media.

Day 17 – Write 5 things that will bring happiness

After an unsettling week of medical tests, which still didn’t resolve my issue, I found it difficult to think about what brings me happiness and what I want to do more of in 2019.  I needed to think about this so it will be a WIP.

Day 18 – Embrace your inner child

I’ve been having some series health issues over the last week ALL IS OKAY NOW but I’ve had to catch up on my prompts. Yesterday I tried to forget the tests of yesterday and last week and brought out my inner child by blowing bubbles. My favourite memory is not of me blowing bubbles but the first time that my grandson Ethan saw bubbles. It is a memory I will always treasure.

Day 19 – Call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while

Week 3 #my25daycountdowntoahappychristmas

I went for a walk and whilst walking I phoned my dear friend, Marilyn who I have known for 38 years. She is my daughter’s godmother and although she lives in another State and we don’t talk often, when we do we pick up where we left off. Now that is true friendship and one I treasure. Who can you call today and surprise them? I felt this quote perfectly described our friendship.

Day 20 – Prepare and enjoy a healthy meal

Week 3 #my25daycountdowntoahappychristmas

Started my busy day with oats, yogurt and banana to give me the energy I needed. Dinner last night was grilled chicken with steamed potato, cauliflower and green bean salad courtesy of my own private chef – my darling husband. It was so delicious I forgot to take a photo! Here is breakfast photo at least I managed that!

Day 21 – Visit some Christmas markets

Southbank has the Brisbane Christmas markets so I took a wander during the afternoon to see them.  I’m sure they would be beautiful at night with all the fairy lights but alas, I could only fit them in during the day.  It was lovely though seeing the handcrafts and I found a beautiful stall which sold stationery.  Such beautiful journals and notebooks I was very tempted!

Well that was Week 3 and I achieved it despite having to fit in medical tests. It has been wonderful to remind myself of the joy of Christmas through my daily prompts and I hope you have enjoyed them.

Hi, Sue – I love how you have so generously shared these prompts with us, and have so openly shown how you have incorporated them into your life. I am so sorry to hear about the medical testing. Thinking of you and sending love and warmth your way.

Hi Donna, sorry for my late reply but I’ve been busy with Christmas. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the prompts and it was fun to do. My tests did show a problem but we only found out by accident. I’m okay and it is all under control now but I was concerned at the time. Thank you for your good wishes and love. xx

What a great recap Sue – I loved that you managed to complete so many of the challenges (despite the medical concerns and tests that you had going on in the background). Glad that all is well, and I loved all those market pics at the end.

Hi Leanne, yes the medical tests certainly interrupted my plans but I did manage the prompts even if not always on the day. Wishing you and Ross a very happy New Year and I’m almost in countdown mode for your visit.:)
