This month my theme is 31 days to focus on YOU! and finding ways to discover what you want from life – what makes you happy – making time for yourself.
Her first sentence, which I’ve quoted below, started me thinking and I would encourage you to click on the link about and read her post in full.
If you have goals (a vision) but do nothing about it then it’s all just a dream.
What a great thought!
If we really want to focus on ourselves, that includes determining what we want from our life as individuals. Not as someone’s partner, mother or daughter – but as a Woman who is an individual with her own needs and desires.
Jennifer, wrote about having a vision and also how helpful Vision Boards are to keep our goals front and centre. I’ve had a vision board for about 10 years and although it looks very messy, it reminds me every morning what I want for my life and what is important to me and that includes having photos of my family and friends.
What is a Vision Board?
Basically it is a board that you can pin photos or images to that relate to what you want to achieve or dreams you want to make into a reality.
It is akin to a Pinterest Board where you save links and images to different categories. You could probably use Pinterest but I like a physical board that I can put in a prominent place.
When I first started my vision board, I had photos of places I wanted to travel to, running events I wanted to enter. Now I keep my achievements there so I can see what I am actually capable of.
Why have a Vision Board?
Having a visual of your goal can help keep you motivated and working towards achieving it.
Do they work?
Like anything, a vision board is just a tool to help you keep motivated and working towards what you want for your life.
I found this article in Psychology today ‘Throw away your vision board’ which had some interesting reasons as to the negative side of this motivational tool. I will leave it to you to decide.
At the end of the day, a Vision Board can help define your dreams and goals – BUT IT WON’T MAKE THEM HAPPEN – ONLY YOU CAN DO THAT!
