Unique : ‘Being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else
We live in a society where we are constantly bombarded with images of how we should look, what ‘the beautiful people’ are wearing, eating, doing. The pressure is on to be something we are not instead of promoting the unique qualities that we all have as individuals.
There is no one like you – you are unique and special – remember that!Click To Tweet
Constantly striving to be something false robs us of our happiness. There will always be someone more beautiful, brighter, happier, or more successful than you – that is a fact of life. No one is perfect BUT WE ALL HAVE UNIQUE QUALITIES THAT MAKE US SPECIAL – THAT MAKE US WHO WE ARE.
Life isn’t a competition however we put so much pressure on ourselves trying to emulate someone who we think is ‘better’ than us that life passes us by.
Society has dictated for too long that we need to conform – being different growing up was frowned upon. People who were different because of race, sexuality, physically or mentally were shunned and some were even hidden away.
Times have changed but there are still prejudices in this world and it is up to us as individual to change perceptions and ideas and THAT CHANGE STARTS WITH YOU!
It’s time to stop comparing ourselves with others and actually acknowlege the fact that we are unique individuals with our own talents and specialness!

Write down one thing that is unique to you. It can be anything – serious, funny, quirky.
No one else has this – doesn’t that make you feel special? It should!
You can live your life trying to ‘fit in’ to a mould that just isn’t you or you can embrace your uniqueness and show the world who you really are. Accepting who you are and ceasing to compare yourself to others is the start of a new and exciting journey in your life.
Of course it takes courage to be Different and unique but apart from anything else you need to stay TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE! I found this great quote on Pintrest.
BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE!
It’s time to introduce a new mantra into your life:
I am unique
I am different
I am important
I am me!

Great advice. I never try to compare myself to others. I know there is only so much a person can do. I have to keep reminding this to myself and keep reminding myself that I CAN accomplish what I wish to do, as long as I try. Nothing can compare to that.
Thanks Jeffrey! I think women in particular compare themselves too much and this holds them back from being happy in life. You are right as long as we try that is all that can be expected of us. Have a great day!
I am Unique .. I am ME… Thankyou Sue.. Its always a delight to read all positive traits from you.. Thanks..

You certainly are Unique and Special Deepti and you have such a wonderful talent for writing poetry. Have a lovely day!
I love that we picked the same word for this one – it is definitely a reflection of all that we’ve come to learn about ourselves in this fabulous time of midlife – we don’t need to compare or fit in with the mold – we are ourselves and that is more than enough 🙂 Leanne @ cresting the hill
Yes I loved your writing and we have both finally realised who we are and that we are special. I’m enjoying the midlife ride with you.
Thank you for this precious reminder. What’s unique about me ? The fact that I’m half German and half Indian which means I straddle two different ways of being and have an insider perspective on being Indian and European.
Oh you are unique Kalpanaa!!! What a wonderful experience of cultures you have in your own family! Have a great day!
Great post – unique – a much better word than anything else!

yes I think it is a great word AJ and applies to everyone! Have a great day!
Great word for sure! I love being unique! That’s what makes us all wonderful! We are each very unique and not different! Thanks for the wonderful reminder!
I’m certainly sizzling after this post! It’s an important message and one we all need to listen to, learn and follow every day.
Boy, is this right on the money. Especially with all the perky social media posts, we can’t help but compare. But it’s not healthy.
I know Carol when I was growing up the magazines were full of skinny models who ate lettuce leaves and that was the ideal. You would have thought we had learned by now but the comparison still goes on. I suppose we just have to try to teach our young women from an early age that they are special and to remind them of their special qualities. Thanks for stopping by to comment.
To bad every teenager could hear and apply these words early on so as to not figuring it out along the journey. I think we figure it out later in life rather than earlier for many.
I know Michelle it has taken me 58 years to get to this point! We need to teach our daughters and granddaughters from the beginning how special they are.
