Benefits of Regular Exercise

Benefits of Regular ExerciseWe all know that exercise is good for us, right?  We know that it is great for us physically, that is a given, but more importantly, regular exercise brings benefits to our whole being.

Regular exercise is so important for not just our Physical health but our Mental and Spiritual Health.

I was recently reading an article in my Australian Women’s Health Diary about the secret benefits of exercising.  You already probably know what these benefits are, but don’t take the time to really think about them. So……

The 5 Top Benefits You Get from Regular Exercise

1. Happiness

When you exercise you may not feel happy when you start, but by the end your mood is feeling brighter and you have a bounce in your step (well maybe not literally if you’ve had a hard workout!)   Exercise can lift your mood and enhance your mental well-being

2. Improves Sleep

Exercising regularly can help you enjoy quality sleep, however try to avoid exercising just before bedtime as you will still be feeling the ‘high’ from exercise and won’t be able to settle.

3. Improves Memory and Concentration

Harvard studies have shown that exercising regularly, stimulates the brain. Exercise can stimulate  brain regions that are involved in memory function to release a chemical called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

4. Improves Your Libido

Not only do you feel energized when you exercise, but according to the Mayo Clinic:

Regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women. And men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than are men who don’t exercise.

5. Relieves Anxiety and Stress

When I’m feeling anxious or stressed I get a knot in my stomach or my neck.  I can’t concentrate.  At times like these I put on my joggers and head out for a run.  Exercise can relieve stress and anxiety and helps clear your mind.

Exercise has benefits not just for your body but mentally and spiritually. So Time to Get MovingClick To Tweet

I really liked the exercise planner at the end of your couch potato book but I don’t have a printer at home. Can you please email me the exercise planner as an attachment to an email so I can print it out at my local technology centre? Thank you heaps, best regards from Philippa Savins
