Happy Thursday!
How often do we say, “One day I’ll start walking every morning,” or “One day I’ll plan that trip,” or even “One day I’ll finally put myself first”?
Here’s the thing: “One day” can easily turn into “never.”
In this week’s Your Weekly Boost newsletter , I talked about how it’s never too late to start something new — whether it’s a wellness journey, a creative project, or simply choosing more joy in your everyday life. But I also reminded us: don’t wait too long.
I was delighted to receive a comment from one of my readers which made my day and brought so much joy to my heart. The message in my newsletter resonated with her and she took the first step.
Sue, I am a carer for my husband and I know that I need to take care of myself as well so I started an exercise program today that looks to be doable. I also got out my old drawing materials, something I loved doing years ago. I really enjoy reading your weekly boost!
So why not let today be your Day One?
The right time is rarely perfect. Sometimes, we just need to begin.
Start small. You may be scared. You will be excited.
But Just start with that first step.
I am including the printable reminder from the Newsletter in case you missed it.

Have a beautiful day!

I love that! I am so guilty of one day-ing my way through life. I’m visiting a gym tomorrow to check it out.

Good for you, Marsha! I’m thrilled you feel determined to start at the gym. Let me know how you go. Sue L xx
When Richard and I walked our first Camino (2010), we met an older woman working in one of the shops. She said that she alway wanted to “walk the Camino one day.” But even though the path was right outside her front door, she always found herself to be “too busy.” Unfortunately now, due to her health condition, it was “too late” for her. Richard and I vowed right then and there not to put off our dreams for “One Day.” Great post!
Great story, Donna and so true. We can always find other things to keep us busy but Mike and I are determined to increase our travel now. You never know what is around the corner. Have a lovely weekend. Sue xx
Yep, sometimes you just gotta jump in and start! Often I have many day 1’s… trying to establish a regular workout habit took me years but I never gave up even when my goals weren’t always met or I’d fall back into “tomorrow I’ll…” habits. Eventually it stuck.
Hi Joanne, so true! You just have to keep trying don’t you and as you say your exercise habit eventually stuck and I’m sure you feel so much better for it. x
Great advice, Sue. xx
Thanks, Toni for always supporting me and my blog. Have a lovely weekend. xx
I love the bit about it never being the perfect time so just start!
I do too, Lydia. We always want things to be perfect before we start but that could take forever. Just starting is the key. Have a lovely weekend. xx
Yes to all you say here Sue! We have to make things happen or they pass us by!
You are a shining example of making things happen, Deb and always an inspiration to me. xx
I absolutely love this mindset, Sue! It’s amazing how switching the order of two words completely alters the message! I have a feeling this one will stay with me for quite some time – thanks!
I agree, Laura our mindset really is the key to achieving things in life. As you say the order of two words can make such a difference. Have a lovely weekend. xx
“Let today be day one.” What a beautiful mantra, Sue. We often let perfectionism keep us from beginning anything. But a simple start on any given today–like today!–is always wonderful. Thanks!
Hello Lisa, I love that mantra too. I find it helps if we have been working towards something and perhaps fall off track. I draw a line in the sand and move forward. Have a lovely day. x
Wise words indeed – and for every day of the week!! I am beginning to realize that I don’t have forever to do some of the things I still want to do. We went rafting this past week and I loved it. Now I have a brand new hobby at 67!!
Oh go you with the rafting, Leslie! We are never too old to try something new are we? xx
