The Health Benefits of Tai Chi After 50

Recently I was asked to contribute to an article for Titanic Spa, How to Practice Wellness while spending more time at home. My contribution was based around creating a ‘masterplan’ of activities in the areas of health, relationships, self-development, chores, and relaxation. You can read the full article HERE.

Part of self-care is ensuring that our physical, mental and spiritual needs are met.

Over the last couple of months life has changed for many as we practise isolation and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time we have had more opportunity to explore ways to keep active at home. My philosophy is that we need to be healthy not just in body but in mind and spirit, so I was delighted to be presented with the opportunity to try Tai Chi lessons through White Crane Online.

I’ve just been gifted a one year subscription from White Crane Online which provides online lessons in Tai Chi and a variety of meditation, breathing and stretching courses. There is a free option plus a subscription fee for additional courses however the benefits of this type of exercise are worth any financial investment.

The Grounding and Calming Qigong and Meditation routine brings calm, grounding and a feeling of relaxation. There are also Chair Exercises as well as one of my favourites, the Golden Light Meditation. This guided meditation is around 7 minutes and re-energizes to increase positivity.

    I will need to check this out. I’m always looking for a good guided meditation that my husband and I can use and the Golden Light meditation sounds like it will be great.

    Have done Tai Chi in the past and seen results. Wish more people knew about and practiced it. This discipline probably would create more peace in the world, something we certainly need today.
