Friday Favourites: Revisiting ways to re-discover who you are

July 7, 2017

love yourself

Comparing ourselves to others is part of life but when we let that develop a poor self-image then we need to take a good look at who we are.  I’ve made July the month that we focus on YOU for 31 days and I think that part of that focus should be on looking at ways we can overcome our fears, self-doubt or poor self-image.

Some of these posts I wrote for ‘The Seeing Me Project’ for Miller’s Fashion. The Seeing Me Project was started by Millers and their mission is:

……to be the industry beacon for 40+ women. We want this digital platform to be a place for you to engage in conversation, share stories and life advice, we want Seeing Me Project to be your voice.

In this week’s Friday Favourites, I’m revisiting some posts that are all about focusing on the person we are and learning to love that person.

Remember, you are unique, beautiful, powerful in your own special way.

‘U’ is for Unique – You are Special so stop comparing yourself

We live in a society where we are constantly bombarded with images of how we should look, what ‘the beautiful people’ are wearing, eating, doing. The pressure is on to be something we are not instead of promoting the unique qualities that we all have as individuals.

Overcoming Self Doubt

Self doubt can be soul destroying – I know I suffered from self doubt for most of my life.  Doubting our self and our abilities prevents us from achieving our goals and dreams.  In this post I talk about my self doubt and also point out that it is our choice whether we let that doubt hold us back or overcome it to move forward.

Learning to Love yourself will make you a better person

Women, in particular, find it so difficult to love themselves and accept themselves for who they are.  When we embrace and accept who we are we are we start enjoying and living our life to our full potential.

Taking a Midlife Self-Discovery tour

I wrote this post for the Seeing Me Project and discussed the challenge of breaking out of our comfort zone as we become empty-nesters and experience the freedom that midlife brings.  Who are we now that our family have grown, or we have retired?

Quick ways to find balance in your life

Ever feel like life is spinning out of control?  That was my life last year so I decided to do something about it and bring some balance back into my life.

I hope you enjoy discovering these posts and others throughout the website and are inspired and motivated to start focusing on YOU!

Please feel free to leave a comment and share your ways to try to focus on yourself and bring more self-care into your life.

Enjoyed reading the balance article. I need to limit my time messing around on my laptop. There are so many more productive things I could be doing! Pinned this for quick reference.

It seems to me that this is the time of life when we really should be able to fully discover ourselves and be comfortable with who we are. But even so self doubt is always around ready to raise its ugly head. Another great post from you Sue x

I know Jan but it is surprising how many women don’t feel that way. Thanks for your lovely comment and have a great week!

I liked this idea of 31 days to focus on me .I think I will be doing this It’s such a powerful thought to improve oneself by looking inside.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 12, 2017 at 08:53

Yes Amrita we tend to think of everyone else and put ourselves last. Sometimes we need to change that thought pattern so we take care of ourselves. WE are happier and are much nicer to be around I think. Good luck with the challenge. x
