Winter Bucket List Update

My winter bucket list update

Back in June, I was asked by my friend Leslie from Once Upon A Time & Happily Ever After, Life After Retirement suggested I take part in a seasonal bucket list.

I started with a Winter Bucket List because in Australia it is officially winter.  If you missed it you can read it here to see what I was hoping to tick off during my winter. My Winter Bucket List

It is now time for a quick update.

My Winter Bucket List Update

I’ve decided to group my winter bucket list into categories – Health & Wellness, Social, Travel, Home and I’m happy to say that I HAVE  TICKED SOME OFF MY LISTS!

Health & Wellness

  • Run the Gold Coast Half Marathon – the Saturday Sisters and I ran and completed the 21km course on the beautiful Gold Coast. We were happy with our times and extra happy with the celebratory breakfast after the run.

Winter Bucket List

  • Enjoy the Winter Sunshine in Queensland – glorious weather and why wouldn’t you want to enjoy being outside.

Winter Bucket List

  • Make June my health & wellness month to concentrate on exercise, eating well balanced meals, cutting down on alcohol and making more time to ‘just be’ and enjoy the moment.  I’ve been in training for a 34km run in August so health and wellness are on track.

Travel

  • Prepare for our trip to Spain and Italy which is in October – we’ve started some planning at booked the airfares and two tours.  Still a WIP.
  • Spend more time at our other home on the Gold Coast for long weekends

a sentence a day

Social

  • Celebrate Christmas in July with all the trimmings.  The preparations have commenced and it is booked in for 22nd July.

Home

a sentence a day

  • Tried two slow cooker meals – lamb shanks and also beef cheeks in red wine – oh my goodness just so, so delicious.
  • Catch up on movies and TV series on rainy days – I started getting hooked on Designated Survivor with Keifer Sutherland and also The Voice Australia which has just finished.
  • I’m reading madly at the moment and have enjoyed 2 Jodie Picoult books: ‘Small Great Things’and ‘Handle with Care’  and also Lisa Genova’s ‘Inside the O’Brien’s’

All in all I’m on track and enjoying my Winter season.

What would you put on your Winter Bucket List?

I like the acronym WIP – I can apply that all over the place as I am always a WIP!!

Bravo on accomplishing so much this first month. Looking forward to pics of your Christmas in July celebration tomorrow. Our birthday celebration this week has been like Christmas for me.

Thank you for joining in for this series. Yours is a life well lived.

Yes I have quite a few WIPs Leslie. Celebrations are lovely at any time aren’t they? It is the first time we have done Christmas in July and it felt funny putting up a small Christmas tree and decorations. Have a lovely weekend Leslie and I’m enjoying our link ups.

Congrats on completing your half-marathon, Sue! I’m preparing for my trip to Spain in August, too…Booked air tickets, hotels, train tickets, free walking tours, and just ordered a SIM card for Spain. Love your photos of the coast and the food.

Oh I’ll have to check out your posts about Spain Natalie. We haven’t visited Spain before so looking forward to it. We have the air tickets booked and some tours but I still have accommodation and a flight from UK to Portugal and then one from Barcelona to Rome to book. I love travel and am getting excited now!

Kudos on completing the half marathon and training for 34 km ? I am definitely not a runner. Haha. I read Jodi Picoults “Small Great Things” and love it. I will have to check out Handle with Care.

Thanks Danielle. Yes I love Jodie Picoult and I just finished Paula Hawkins – Into the Water, she wrote Girl on a Train and I loved both of her books. Have a great weekend. x

Love this list — and your beautiful photos! Congratulations on the run. No meal tastes quite as good as the post-race meal. Happy winter to you! (I wish my winters looked that lovely.)

Thanks Christie, I was pretty happy with my run and time and yes our winters are quite mild with lots of sunshine. You should come and visit! Have a lovely weekend. x

Visiting Australia is on my bucket list, so don’t be surprised if you see me one day! 🙂

Gosh you are busy Sue, but it sounds like a good way to be!! Your trip is coming closer so good luck with the preparations. I always enjoy the planning stage of holidays as it makes ithe trip last longer. I have a few trips I’m currently organising as a WIP too so lots to look forward to!! Enjoy your Christmas in July today – Merry Christmas to you all ?

Yes we are just starting to get organised for the trip Debbie. It has been 3 years since we had an overseas holiday so can’t wait. x

Your weather looks GORGEOUS!!! What are your temperatures? Also, I’d love to know why you do a Christmas in July celebration. Is it so you can do that in cooler weather? Isn’t Designated Survivor great?!? I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the new season. I love when he wears his glasses! They’re awesome!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 24, 2017 at 13:46

It is gorgeous here in winter Michael Ann the temps are still in the low to mid 20sC. I’ve written a post about Christmas in July but basically it is because it is so hot in December to enjoy a traditional meal, restaurants have been promoting a ‘Christmas in July’ feast to enjoy the turkey, ham etc. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by x

Your photos are just beautiful, and I love that your lifestyle is still (dare I say???) so active. I’m 54 and active, and increasingly I am aware that I need to continue to ‘use is’ so as not to ‘lose it!’ Half marathons are my favorite distance race handsdown, and the Gold Coast Half you ran sounds absolutely amazing! I joke that after a half marathon you can live to see another day, vs after a full marathon where your not 100% sure you will . . . ha!

And I love the vibrant, positive energy that is exhibited in your posts!

Thanks for your lovely comment Tamara. I have a challenge for you LOL:) I ran my first (and only) full marathon two weeks before my 55th birthday so you still have time! Have a lovely day and great to connect with you xx
