My Week that was – Wednesday Words andWhimsy #WWWhimsy

Wednesday Words and Whimsy

It’s time for Wednesday Words & Whimsy and I’m delighted to be a guest co-hosting again with my partner in crime, Debbie Harris from Deb’s World. Min, from Write of the Middle, the regular host will be back in the near future but until that time, Deb and I have taken on co-hosting duties and I think we make a fabulous team.

How has your week been going?

I actually think that Autumn is on the way as the mornings and evenings have a hint of briskness to them. I love this time of year and it certainly is more comfortable than the hot and humid Summer that we have just experienced.

Bathroom renovations are 90% completed with only the ensuite shower screen to be fitted. Mike still has to paint the cornices and fit and paint the door frames but we now have two functioning bathrooms again and I’m so happy with they way they look.

My week has been busy but a balance of work and play.

  • Spring cleaning the whole house now that the bathroom renovations are almost completed. We are waiting for the Shower Screen to be installed in the ensuite and Mike just has to paint the cornices and attach the door frames.
  • Visiting a Diabetes Educator with Mike who had a Libre Freestyle 2 Blood Glucose Senser fitted. Much easier for him to monitor his sugar levels rather than pricking his finger 4 times a day.
  • I enjoyed a luncheon catch up with the Groovy Grans for International Womens Day and wore one of my latest favorite outfits from Fella Hamilton. (Remember to use my code SUE10 for a discount). The Groovy Grans are a group of 4 grandmothers who met through our grandchildren’s school. Now that the grandchildren have moved to different schools we decided to catch up as we don’t see each other at the school gate.
  • Watched my grandson play soccer – always a joy to spend time with my grandsons and I’m so happy to see them being active and enjoying sport.
  • International Women’s Day – as is our tradition we ran in the International Women’s Day run and I actually ran a P.B. which I was happy about. At almost 67 I’m grateful I can still enjoy running.
  • Remembered my Dad – Dad passed away 43 years ago on 11th March about 4.5 weeks before my first child, Rachel was born. He was a lovely man who always had a friendly smile and hello for everyone.
  • Checked out some accommodation options for a short getaway in April. After all the physical work of the bathroom renovations both Mike and I are looking forward to some downtime.
  • Voted early in the upcoming Council Elections and wore another Fella Hamilton favourite
  • Took sessions in the Strong Healthy Women Virtual Studio – I love helping women 50+ stay fit, active and strong

The latest from the WLWA50 blog

A new episode of the Women Living Well After 50 Podcast went LIVE on Monday – Finding Freedom through writing your story. My guest is author, Carolyn Tate and we are chatting about writing your story. Have you ever thought of documenting your story or writing a novel? I enjoyed discussing Carolyn’s workshops where she encourages women to write. I’ll be linking up the post in this week’s #WWWhimsy and I’d love your feedback.

As well as co-hosting #WWWhimsy I also co-host The Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot which is a fun link up with plenty of variety.

So, that was my week and I would love you to share what you’ve been up to over the last week.

Hi, Sue – Your bathroom renovations look amazing. I am glad to hear that you and Mike will be taking a short April get-away. You both deserve it! <3

We are really happy with the end result, Donna although Mike has a few little jobs to finish the bathrooms completely. We would love a longer break soon but our bank balance isn’t looking too healthy after the renovations. x

I love that multi coloured top you have on in the right hand picture. It’s stunning. Great news on the PB in the run! My friend, who is 65 next month, is still out there running. I occasionally think I would like to do another triathlon but running was never my favourite part and I quit a few years ago… food for thought. Great job on the bathrooms. That shower looks awesome. I know that Mike will benefit greatly from his sensor. It will make balancing it all so much easier. Bernie

I love the multi coloured top, too Bernie and it is only now that the weather isn’t as humid that I’m able to wear it. I’m very happy with my PB and am grateful I can still run. We are also very happy with the bathrooms and when I have a shower I don’t want to get out! x

Thanks, Barbara we are very happy with the result. x

I’m loving your bathroom and those outfits, Sue

Hi Sue, thanks for co-hosting #wwwhimsy while Min has been out of action, it’s always great to work with you :). Your bathroom renovations look great and you’ve certainly worked hard and deserve a little break away. Your outfits are so colourful and happy, they make me smile, and you look gorgeous! My father’s birthday was the 11 March so whenever you mention this date in relation to your Dad it reminds of mine too, so thank you.

We would like a longer break, Deb and could well do with one but the bank balance isn’t looking too healthy after our renovations. I’m glad that when I remember my Dad, you can remember yours and for a happier reason. x

Oh, your renovations look so lovely, Sue! I love a crisp white bathroom. What a busy week you’ve had. I love that you get together with your Groovy Grans! You look fabulous in both outfits! And, hugs to you on the remembrance of your dad. Mine will have been gone 50 years this year…my word, it’s so weird to even type that. We never ever stop missing them, though.

Have a fabulous rest of the week, and thank you for the link up!

Yes, Marsha we are very happy with the result and I’m enjoying having long showers in my new bathroom! Gosh, you lost your Dad a longtime ago too, didn’t you? We don’t stop missing them though. Take care .x

Your renovations are beautiful! I bet it is wonderful to have that (nearly!) done. Our days are slowly growing warmer… so much so that I decided to break out a pair of flip flops today!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric March 15, 2024 at 10:58

Thanks, Joanne! We love the finished result in the bathrooms even though Mike has a couple of small things to finish off. You know the weather is warming up when the flip flops come out! Have a great weekend. x
