My Virtual Coffee Catch Up for January

My Virtual Coffee Catchup for January 2019

Where does January go? Do you find that we are busy with preparations for the Festive Season and New Year and then with a click of the fingers, January has come and gone?

I missed out on writing my coffee catch up for December so wanted to start the New Year back on track and just enjoying sharing Life with Sue each month.

The New Year started with Mike and I enjoying our apartment at the Gold Coast. The summer weather was glorious and we enjoyed spending quality time together. We went for lunch at a local restaurant with a gorgeous view over the ocean.

I’m making the most of the time I have with my daughter and grandsons, Ethan 4-1/2 & Elliot who has just turned 8 months old. Ethan started school this week and what a huge milestone not only for him but also his parents and grandparents. I’m sure there will be a tear or two on the day – not from him but from Rachel and I 🙂 He was so proud of his new school uniform which he modeled for me. Such precious times.

My daughter goes back to work in April so I’m cherishing our time together.  Are you fortunate to live close by your family like I do or are you a long distance grandparent?

Ethan and I had some ‘Ethan/Nan’ time when we visited the Museum. We caught the bus to the Convention Centre then visited the Museum and Art Gallery before spending some time wildlife watching at Southbank.  Special times.

We have finally booked an Alaskan Cruise and Canadian Rockies Tour for later in the year. This has been on our bucket list for quite some time so both Mike and I are looking forward to our next adventure.

I’m back into running with my Saturday Sisters and it was lovely to have my daughter join us again.  We have entered the International Women’s Day 10km Fun Run on the 3rd March, so we are now training for that.

My daughter, Rachel is a great role model for you sons, teaching them that a healthy lifestyle is important.

I recommend Yoga with Adriene who I discovered late last year.  I’m taking her 30 day Dedicate yoga challenge for January and just love it!  Here is the link if you would like to check out her website.

I discovered a FREE Yoga practice in the park across from my house each Sunday plus they also have African Dance Classes which I might try.  It’s all about learning and trying new things. Why not check out Free classes where you live – you would be surprised at what is on offer? It iss a great way to try something new before committing long term.

I also attended a workout session with Peta from Strong Healthy Women. The workout was great and what made my visit so special was the warm welcome I received from the other ladies in the group. One lady is 82 and has been attending Peta’s workout classes for 12 years! Peta will be providing some videos for my #FitFabFeb2019 which I will be sharing with you.

It was a fun experience being a model for a Facebook Live with Jan Wild from Retiring, Not Shy! and Bec from Adrift Clothing.  I loved the dress I was wearing and it was a lovely gift for me to take home.  All the ladies looked lovely and we were joined by Min from Write of the Middle and Sandy from Tray Tables Away.

Click through HERE to find the online store for Adrift. If you purchase using this link Retiring not Shy! will receive a small commission but you won’t pay any extra. 🙂

Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Results by Stephen Guise. I’ve always believed that we need to break down our major goals into smaller manageable steps. I like to call them ‘Baby Steps’. Stephen has some sensible ideas on changing our habits so I would recommend his book to you.

I finally chose my words for 2019 I call it My Eureka Moment! Yes, I chose two words ‘Commit’ & ‘Evolve’.  I’m calling 2019 ‘the evolution of Sue’ so looking forward to trying new things, learning and growing and of course encouraging my readers to do the same.

#FitFabFeb2019 is almost here and that is part of my ‘Evolution of Sue’! The dust has settled after the Festive season and I think February is a great time to think about where we are and where we would like to be. If you missed my post explaining what #FitFabFeb2019 is then you can find out HERE. I would love you to join me and remember it isn’t a challenge but a new beginning.

I’m also continuing my Over 50 & Thriving Series for 2019 and we have started with some very inspiring women. Catch up on their stories HERE

Friendships through Blogging

An unexpected surprise for the last week of the month! I was so happy to meet with my blogging friend, Debbie Harris from Deb’s World. Deb just happened to be in Brisbane for a few hours so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity of meeting her IRL (in real life).

I have been very excited all month as my BBB (Best Blogging Buddy), Leanne Le Cras from Cresting the Hill and her husband will be visiting Brisbane at the end of January/early February. We have been blogging friends for 4 years but haven’t ever met IRL. We both say we are ‘sisters from another life’ as we have so much in common. I can’t wait to see her and also I’ll be organising a catch up lunch for her to meet some other bloggers. Watch for the photos next month!

Well that about wraps up January. It’s been a great start to the year and I do hope you can join me for another coffee catchup next month.

Let’s Keep Sizzling!

I know Donna. Sometimes I don’t think I have done anything and then when I write the post I realise just how much I have fitted into a month. Ethan has settled well into school. He looks adorable in his school uniform. Can’t wait to catch up with you in September. Have a great week! xx

I know, I am sure I only just started January and it was gone, wow.

You look so gorgeous in that Adrift dress, and we’re a great model.

Thanks too for the shootout xx

My pleasure, Jan and I really enjoyed my day as a Model plus the bonus of receiving a dress I really liked and feel great wearing. Thanks again for the opportunity and have a great week! xx

Hi Sue great to catch up on your January. My grandson started school this week also. Growing up too fast. Very excited news about your trip Sue. Alaska is on my bucket list. But I’ve been to BC in Canada four times. One of my favourite places on earth – both in summer and winter. Looking forward to reliving my memories through your photos.

Hi Jen, yes they grow up to quickly don’t they? Ethan has settled well and looks adorable in his school uniform. September and our trip will be here before we know it. This trip has been on our bucket list for many years so finally making it! xx

What a busy time Sue. It was so good to read your catch up post and then I see the photo of us together – t was so good of you to make the effort to meet up!! I’m so pleased Ethan has enjoyed going to school and you are lucky to live close to your daughter and grandsons. Love the fact that Leanne is catching up with you too.

It was a busy month and such a beautiful way to end it with meeting you. I’m looking forward to our next catch up hopefully in May/June. xx

Wow, Sue, you are so busy! I love the pics about time with your grandson – making memories is what it is all about. And they grow so fast.
So exciting about your trip to Alaska. I have actually been researching the same – a cruise on the inside passage complete with glaciers (while we still have them!). But I don’t think it will be this year as we have 3 weddings to work around this summer. I will look forward to hearing all about it from you.

Yes I receive so much joy spending time with Ethan and now his little brother Elliot. Ethan has just started school and looks adorable in his school uniform but he looks to little to go to big school. We have wanted to do Alaska for quite some time so 2019 it is! 3 wedding wow! That is a lot are you organising them all? xx

  • Reply Nancy Dobbins February 8, 2019 at 00:50

HaHa…no, they are not our children, but both my niece and nephew (my brother’s kids) and the daughter of Dan’s oldest and best friend. So we are pretty involved with 2 of them (my son is in the weddings) and the other is just a joyous “must attend”. But they are sufficiently spread out that it effectively prevents us from going too far for too long.

Oh okay they all sound like joyous times ahead though! xx
