Over 50s Lifestyle

May 10 on the 10th

May 10, 2024

Last month I participated in 10 on the 10th hosted by Marsha from Marsha in the Middle. There were a series of 10 questions which I answered and they related in some way to April. If you missed the post you can read it here and perhaps find out some things about me that you didn’t know. It was fun and I determined I would try to participate on a regular basis.

May 10 on the 10th

May is here and this month it isn’t 10 questions but rather as Marsha explained in her preview post:

‘This month, we are going with ten different things you can and may do. If you’d rather do four of one and six of the other, that’s fine! Just make sure you have ten!

I love this idea firstly because I could base my answers around my latest passion – ‘Being an Active Participant in Life’ and also because it made me pause and actually think of things I CAN do and make happen, right now, as well as putting some things on the list which I might like to do before the month ends. So here are my thoughts – I’d love you to join in as well and link up.

What I CAN do in May

  1. Firstly, I can continue being an Active Participant in Life. During April, each day I posted to social media to encourage myself and others to be active participants in life. The challenge was fun and it developed good habits because we don’t have to stop participating in life once the challenge is finished.
  2. Run in the Mother’s Day Run – this is a tradition which my daughter and I have had for many years. We run together in memory of my Mum who died from breast cancer 38 years ago. Unfortunately, Rachel has an injury so may not be able to participate which will be disappointing but can’t be helped.
  3. Getaway for a few days with my husband and also reintroduce our weekly lunch dates – this has already happened and we spent a wonderful 3 nights in Stanthorpe which is about a 3 hour drive from where we live. I will be writing a post about it in the future but I’ve included some photos of the beautiful cottage and surrounding gardens where we stayed.
  4. Bake my grandson a birthday cake for his 6th birthday on 29th. If you have been a regular reader of my blog, you know that it is a tradition to bake my grandchildren a birthday cake.
  5. Continue my daily or very regular exercise program. Moving my body in some way each day as well as getting a variety of workouts to keep my body strong and healthy.

What I MAY do in May

  1. Put aside some time to see what’s in my wardrobe. Let go of what I don’t wear and spend time putting together ideas for outfits. This will safe me time and I won’t have to wonder ‘what will I wear?’.
  2. Make some health related appointments – a bone density scan, dental check up and my mid-year bloods to ensure I’m healthy and happy.
  3. I’ve been looking for some face-to-face activities and found that there is a FREE Zumba class within walking distance of where I live. I’m hoping to participate each Monday at 9am and get my groove going with some Zumba moves, have social connection and some fun.
  4. Book in for a Pinot and Picasso event and test my creativity – they say you don’t need to be able to paint so let’s see. This was an interview I did recently Finding Creativity, Purpose & Connection at a Pinot & Picasso Experience. I was given some free tickets to attend a session.
  5. Book in for a facial which is always a lovely way to enjoy a pampering session.

So over to you. What are 5 things you CAN do and 5 things you MAY do in May that will see you Being an Active Participant in Life? I’d love to hear what is on your list.

Wonderful list, Sue! I keep mulling over what I can do…obviously that list could be quite ridiculous! But, that’s what makes this fun! I love that you and your husband actively plan dates. We seem to be more spontaneous…as in I don’t feel like cooking so let’s go out! I hope you’ll link up when the party goes “live!”

Spontaneous is good, Marsha! I just find that it is easy for us to get into a rut so trying to organise a date day helps. It doesn’t always go to plan but we try. I will definitely link up. x

I think some of the May in May should def make the list – Zumba sounds fun! And even better, you can walk there! #TrafficJamReboot

Your 10 things are great Sue anad i like the way you’ve broken them up as Can do and May do. Hope you can get to the Zumba classes as that sounds like fun and so close to home too! Thanks for mixing things up and being the inspiration you are 🙂

Yes I’m hoping to get to Zumba as I’ve only done it a couple of times before but it certainly is fun

I love your Mother’s Day Run tradition! And I think you AND your daughter should book in for that facial afterward! 😊

It is a lovely tradition, Wendy plus I get to spend time with my girl without interruption. Hopefully the tradition will continue long into the future. x

Hope you girls enjoyed your Mother’s Day run. We had a Mother’s Day swim in the pool. Delightful. We have taken some of those sip and paint classes and always enjoy ourselves. Hope you will find it relaxing and fun. Good for you to reintroduce date lunches with Mike. For a long time I was making bucket lists and then LIFE got in the way. We need to reinstate them, though, because they force us out of our routine.

We had a lovely Mother’s Day run thank you Leslie. Life can get in the way can’t it but you just have to accept that and know that it will pass and you can get back into living again. x

Thanks so much Kirstin, now to make them happen. x
