Making the most of each new day

Making the most of each new day

My Tuesday’s tip this week comes from a quote from Buddha’ and I’m also asking you ‘Are you making the most of each new day?.

I loved the quote so much that I have it permanently in my email that is posted to my readers and also on the sidebar of my website.

Hopefully you receive my ‘posts as they publish emails’ and if you do this quote is a reminder to you that each day is new.  Whatever, happened yesterday – good or bad – we are given a new chance with each new day.

This quote gives us hope and comfort.

Isn’t that a wonderful thought to start the day with?

Remember, we are on a time limit

Not a pleasant thought, but life unfortunately has a time limit. Sometimes it is easy to forget that we are on a time limit in life and we can waste so much of our time on things that at the end of the day aren’t that important.

As we get older there is more urgency to make the most of every day.  That is why I love going to visit my MIL at her aged care facility.  These are people in the last phase of their life but those that are fortunate to still be in relatively good health are certainly enjoying their time.  The activities staff make sure there is plenty to do each day and everyone is included.

The best decision my MIL made was to move to an aged care home.  She has a new lease on life and at 91 is experiencing new things such as tai chi and yoga.  If she was at home alone she would slowly (or quickly) be declining and wasting away her last few years on earth.

My visits to the aged care home has taught me to make the most of every day as you never know when there will be no more days to enjoy.

Making the most of each new day

  • Create a morning ritual and take the time to ease into the day
  • Include some form of movement that you enjoy as part of a daily workout for your body
  • Take 5 minutes to breathe
  • Don’t over-commit your time – leave room each day for YOU.

How are you making the most of each day?

I love connecting with you all. If you haven’t subscribed but would like to receive my emails as they publish then just click here or if you would like to receive my weekly email just click here.

Thanks Sue. I live in a retirement village and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I see people moving when they are way too old and they never settle. You’re right. We need to make the most of each day and make wise decisions while able to do so.

I know Shirley. My FIL passed away about a year ago and would never contemplate moving to a retirement village. Now my MIL is having the time of her life and I think with sadness that they both could have had such fun together if they had moved earlier. Have a beautiful day, my friend x

It is such an important thing to remember isn’t it Sue – not just for what the day holds, but for letting go of the stuff from the past that drags us down. Starting fresh each day frees us up to enjoy every moment.

I know Leanne. Sometimes I do have trouble letting go but remembering that each day is a new clean slate certainly helps. I then can make a choice to fill it with what I want.
