Love is in the air – time to spread the love

February 4, 2018
Love is in the air

It is Valentine’s Day next week so I thought I would share in some fun with The Blended Blog and Leslie from Once Upon a Time, Happily Ever After.  We have been given some questions to answer and it is all to do with Love!  My answers aren’t just about my love for my husband but also my general thoughts on love, family and friends.  Valentine’s Day is not something we really celebrate but it certainly is a reminder to love those around us and make them feel special.

Kisses or Hugs?

I love both but a big bear hug is my favourite.  I feel safe and warm when I’m hugged by my husband and my grandson gives me the best hugs ever.

Candy or Flowers?

Flowers are my gift of choice.  I don’t usually buy flowers for myself so having some delivered is always a special treat.

Baking or Cooking?

Both although I think I’m better at cooking.  I make a mean slow-cooked Beef Cheeks in Red Wine served with mashed potatoes and steamed beans.  I don’t do much baking but I do make a special birthday cake for my grandchildren every year which is always of a masterpiece!

Do you remember your first kiss?

Actually I do.  It was from a boy called Wayne who lived in the next street.  He proposed to me when we were in first grade and sealed it with a peck.  I wonder whatever happened to him?????

Favorite color of Roses?

I used to think it was deep red but I follow my cousin’s facebook group The Fragrant Rose and the roses I see are just glorious with some stunning colours.  I also love that each colour represents a feeling or sentiment

Conversation Hearts, yes or no?

I remember them growing up and yes I suppose they are good conversation starters!

Do you leave love notes?

Not so much now but when my husband worked and travelled a lot I would hide notes throughout his clothing to find when he was away.  I do leave a little love note each week when I leave to mind my grandson as usually my husband is still asleep.

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day?

No as I said in my introduction, we don’t actually celebrate Valentine’s Day and in Australia it isn’t nearly as big a deal as in the U.S.A.

Red or Pink?

I love pink!  Any shade but I particularly like to wear bright pinks during summer to lift my mood.

Milk, White or Dark Chocolate?

Definitely dark chocolate and it is healthy for you!  That is my excuse and I’m sticking to it!

Do you believe in love at first sight?

When I was younger I would have said ‘yes’ as I was young, naive and caught up with loving being in love.  Now that I am older and wiser I believe that developing a friendship which leads to love provides a wonderful foundation for a relationship.

Do you give Humorous or Serious Valentine Cards?

I don’t give cards but if I did it would depend who I was giving it to.

Favorite Chick Flick or Romantic Movie?

Oh you can’t go past ‘Love Actually’ where I keep Kleenex in business or as a Robert Redford & Barbra Streisand Fan – ‘The Way We Were’.  That reminds me I must see that again!

Stay In or Go Out?

We love to stay in.  Our favourite times are making a special dinner together, with a beautifully set table and a delicious red wine.

Okay, you have read my answers, so let me hear yours and leave them in the comment section below.

Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not it certainly makes the world a better place if we can spread the LOVE!

Great to read your answers to these questions Sue! I will answer just one by agreeing that Love Actually is an all time favourite of mine too ?

Oh don’t you just love it Donna! As I wrote in response to Donna, my heart aches for Emma Thompson when she finds the Christmas gift, thinks it is for her and then receives something different 🙁

Sue – I’d love your Slow Cooker Recipe please!

    Deb – I honestly didn’t ‘get’ Love Actually…and I’ve watched it twice! 🙂

Hi Donna, I can give you the recipe no problem although I just throw a bit of this and that into it! I do love the movie ‘Love Actually’ and my heart aches for Emma Thompson when she finds the Christmas gift and thinks it is for her but it isn’t. xx

Sue I might have to join you and post these questions. My answer to movie would also be Love Actually. I thought of it and then saw your answer. Couldn’t believe it. We watch it every Xmas.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 5, 2018 at 07:10

Yes why not Jennifer it is a little bit of fun! I watch it every Christmas as well with my trusty box of tissues LOL:) Have a great week! x

Operating on Australian time over here today because I published my post on our Sunday when it should have been published on Monday. Ooops. Channeling my inner Cousin Sue!!

I really don’t care for Valentine’s Day much because I would prefer to feel loved on a day that Hallmark doesn’t set aside for love. Having PC tell me he loves me on the 13th is more meaningful!!

I chose yellow roses because I had read that yellow represents feelings of joy and delight..

I was completely mistaken with this Cuz. I thought it was a link up through you and anyway it was a bit of fun! We don’t do Valentine’s Day either and agree we should show our love not just on one day of the year. Have a beautiful week, my friend xx

  • Reply Lowanda J February 5, 2018 at 07:27

Hey there! It was nice getting to know you. Australia is someplace I would love to visit one day! I will be posting my answers to the questions tomorrow on the link up. I see that we have some things in common and I love how you closed out your post!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 5, 2018 at 07:28

Hello Lowanda and thanks for visiting. Yes, I’m a little confused with the time difference and I haven’t linked up to TBB before. I’ll be sure to look out for your post as well. Have a great week and thanks for connecting x

Because you asked… 😉 As if you have to twist my arm

KISSES OR HUGS? Bear hugs please!

CANDY OR FLOWERS? I’m the same. I love flowers but I never buy them for myself, so if I get some as a gift as a treat I love them!

BAKING OR COOKING? Baking, forever and a day. Even though I’m pretty terrible at both, I’m mariginally better at baking.

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST KISS? Hmmm… not specifically. I know who it was though. If that makes me sound less… something.

CONVERSATION HEARTS, YES OR NO? I don’t know what they are?

DO YOU LEAVE LOVE NOTES? Sometimes, if he’s feeling a bit down and I think he needs a bit of encouragement.

    RED OR PINK? Always red.

MILK, WHITE OR DARK CHOCOLATE? Milk or white. Health be damned, I’m all about the taste!

DO YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT? I don’t know? Maybe? for other people who don’t put so much over-thought into things like I do.

DO YOU GIVE HUMOROUS OR SERIOUS VALENTINE CARDS? Hahaha, last year I gave a Harry Potter valentine’s card I think. Something to do with muggles.

FAVORITE CHICK FLICK OR ROMANTIC MOVIE? Oh… uh… that’s tough. I don’t really watch them much. Miss Congeniality maybe?

STAY IN OR GO OUT? In winter stay in. In summer, OUT!

This was lots of fun, than’s Sue! #LifeThisWeek

Hi Katherine it is sometimes fun to do one of these posts. My husband and I don’t actually celebrate Valentine’s Day as such but it is nice sometimes to reflect on love. I think the conversation hearts were lollies that had words on them – well at least that was what they were when I was a kid! Glad you had fun and thanks for actually putting your own answers in as well. Have a fabulous week! xx

I’ll answer the last question, Sue: We love to stay in, cook then enjoy our dinner together. I’ll have red wine this year. Have a fabulous week!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 6, 2018 at 13:02

Sounds exactly like the type of dinner we enjoy too!

  • Reply Sydney Shop Girl February 5, 2018 at 13:14

Lovely replies, Sue! I’m not a VDay person but I will be treating myself on the day.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 6, 2018 at 13:04

Hi SSG! We don’t do Valentine’s Day either but I thought it was a bit of fun to answer the questions. Have a great week and love hearing that you will be treating yourself – we should all do that more often! xx

  • Reply Denyse February 5, 2018 at 14:47

That was fun to read AND to get to know more about you! I am not a Vday fan but of course I love my husband and family.
Thank you for joining in #lifethisweek 6/52. Next week’s optional prompt is “Who’s a Worrier?”.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 6, 2018 at 13:05

Hi Denyse! We don’t do Valentine’s Day but I thought it was a fun post to do for a change. I know you love your husband and family and I also know how loved you are in return. x

Hi Stacey thanks for visiting and this is the first time I’ve linked up with TBB. Have a great week xx

I love reading these kinds of posts Sue – they reveal a little bit more about the writer every time. I think Love Actually would definitely be in my Top 10 Movies of all time – I think I’ve seen it at least half a dozen times (there are a few snippets I’d take out but the rest is fabulous). Loved reading a little bit more about you!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 7, 2018 at 10:16

I don’t do them often Leanne but it was really just a bit of lighthearted writing. We don’t actually do anything for Valentine’s Day because we feel love should be there daily not just shown on one day. Glad you got to know me a little better as well x
