Meet Debbie

Debbie is an award winning Australian midlife, travel, adventure and lifestyle blogger who has a smile named after her – the ‘Debbie Smile’.
A young retiree, after being made redundant from her 22 year career of managing educational programs for inmates in a men’s correctional centre, she thought she’d have loads more time for reading, cycling, blogging and travelling, but she’s discovered that life is busier than ever!
Whether it’s her two book clubs, her stunning women’s group, volunteering with Rotary, riding her ebike, walking in the forest, taking photographs, writing on her blog, reading, staying in touch with her 4 grandchildren who live a long way away or simply catching up with friends, life is never dull when Debbie is around!
Since turning 60 late last year she has embarked on a Life of Bold with her Word of the Year for 2021 being BOLD. ‘Being Bold is becoming a way of life’.

Thanks for having me on your podcast again Sue, it was great to talk all things BOLD with you!
My pleasure Deb I love having you as my guest. You always have interesting things to say and I’m a fan of your Year of Living Bold, but you already know that. xx
Hi, Sue and Debbie – I absolutely loved this Video Podcast!! You both looked and sounded great, and your tips are very wise. Most of us could do with a bit more ‘bold’ in our lives. As they say, it usually isn’t what we’ve done that people regret most, but what we haven’t done. Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for that Donna, your words are very true, we often regret what we haven’t done when it gets too late! It was great chatting to Sue, she’s such a professional.
Hi Donna, I enjoyed this interview with Deb and she certainly is leading the way living her BOLD life. x
You both looked fantastic, and what a great interview. Bold is such a great word. Toni x
Thanks Toni, we had a lovely time chatting away and I am very happy to share my bold WOTY.
Thanks Toni! I really enjoyed interviewing Deb and agree that BOLD is a great word to live by. x
Loved watching this, thanks, ladies!!!
Thanks so much Terry, I’m honoured you watched it, as I’m a huge fan of your books – but you know that!!
Hello Terry! Thank you for visiting and also for watching my interview with Deb. Deb is a great friend and I admire her very much. Her BOLD WOTY has certainly been a wonderful choice for her (and us all) x
I have followed Deb’s #Bold posts for a while now – so inspiring! And so glad to find her here in your space as well!
Thanks so much Ju-Lyn, it’s always lovely being in Sue’s space and sharing my thoughts with others.
Hi Ju-Lyn, Deb is a very good friend of mine and I love her choice of BOLD for #WOTY. x
Hi Sue and Deb – I’ve loved Deb’s Bold theme for the year and how she’s seized it and run with it. I think making positive bold choices is so heartening and increases our courage to tackle new challenges. BTW Sue, congrats on the newspaper article – great to see you rocking it out for Midlife women! x
Thanks for your comments Leanne, I am finding it is getting easier to be bold, the longer the year goes on. I take that as a good sign 🙂
Sue’s article was fabulous wasn’t it? So well deserved to see her getting this coverage.
Hi Leanne, yes I’ve told Deb I’m jealous that I didn’t think of BOLD myself but it doesn’t stop us living that way too. I was very excited about the newspaper article and it really hit a chord with readers. x
Thank you, Sue, for featuring Deb here. ❤️“Bold” is an excellent word for you, Deb, and for all women. I love your words, accountable, focus and purpose. I appreciate Sue’s words “aspire to.” Interesting how you brought up, ‘not a huge crowd’ at the library. I think most of us realize at this stage in life, inspiring just one person and possibly changing their life is sometimes the reward for ‘putting ourselves out there.’ I greatly admire you, Deb for any form of public speaking. One of my greatest fears.
Sue, I appreciated your wise words about ‘being the person who you really are.’
You both remind me about the saying where sometimes one plus one is greater than two when you have the right combination of wisdom, smarts, confidence, knowing who you are and articulate it well.❤️
I ended up teary watching the both of you. I know how you are both caring, genuine, authentic women. You make a difference in many people’s lives. You make a difference in my life. ❤️(You both look gorgeous and an excellent Vlog!)
Thank you as always Erica for your thoughtful comments. Deb and I work so well together and I just love her WOTY. Bold is perfect and I’ve actually been trying to live that way too. As far as public speaking goes I suppose you get used to it although I don’t really like hearing my voice LOL:) I try to be natural and what you see is what you get! I don’t try to be someone I’m not because then I think you lose the connection with others. You make a difference too,Erica as you are a beautiful soul and I’m so happy to have you as a friend. xx
