It’s 2025 & time to live life in Full Bloom! – #WOTY2025

Happy New Year! It’s 2025 and time to live life in Full Bloom!

Like many, I have chosen a #WOTY for several years and I’ve always found they have helped guide my year. In most cases the word has been exactly what I needed at the time.

In the early days I would spend so much time ‘finding’ my WOTY but the last couple of years the word has presented itself to me out of the blue and I’ve just gone with my gut feeling. It has proven successful so I continued with that selection process.

Last year, my WOTY was FREEDOM and although I think I subconsciously used this word as my guide I feel that towards the latter part of the year my thoughts and living were more aligned with JOY.

My WOTY 2025 is BLOOM

So why ‘Living Life in Full Bloom’?

Being in “full bloom” in life means reaching a stage of growth, fulfillment, and self-realization, much like a flower at its peak. It’s a time when you’re not only comfortable in your own skin but also thriving, having embraced your unique strengths, wisdom, and desires.

The season of life is a beautiful, ever-evolving journey. Just like the changing seasons in nature, our lives move through different stages. There’s something magical about the season when we are in full bloom. To me, it is a time when we are at our most vibrant, when our purpose feels clear, and when we radiate with energy and possibility. Well that’s the aim anyway. Perhaps I’ve still some things to overcome but I’m not going to waste any more days – I am going to LIVE LIFE IN FULL BLOOM!

At 67 time is moving at what seems a rapid rate so I will have as my mantra for 2025

If not now, when?

Being in full bloom is not just about our accomplishments, successes or our external appearance; it’s a deep inner knowing and alignment. It’s a time when feel in tune with our true self. It’s about fully embracing our strengths, our passions, and our purpose. Much like a flower reaching toward the sun, we too stretch toward growth, guided by the light of our dreams and aspirations.

When we are in full bloom, we stand tall, bright, and fully visible to the world, embracing everything we have become.

"Living Life in Full Bloom." It captures the essence of joy, vitality, and renewal.

This image was created by AI – “Living Life in Full Bloom.” I love it because it captures the essence of joy, vitality, and renewal.

Now is a time to celebrate who we are, and how far we’ve come. It’s a reminder that, like flowers, we each have our own pace and time to bloom. Some bloom early, others later, but all in their own perfect season.

Blooming doesn’t have to be the end but the beginning of so many more Springs. When the petals of a flower fall, the seeds scatter and more blooms will grow in time.

Being in full bloom means fully embracing the present moment — feeling gratitude for who we are now, and for the journey that has brought us here. It’s about savoring the beauty of life, knowing that even as we bloom, there will be new chapters and seasons of growth ahead.

So, let us bask in this season, for it is ours to cherish, to learn from, and to grow deeper still, like a flower ever-reaching toward the sky.

Living in full bloom is about honoring your life experience, nurturing your growth, and embracing joy, regardless of age. It’s a celebration of a life well-lived and the continuous journey of blooming where you are planted.

This year I will start writing my private memoir just for my family My daughter told me her Dad had written a book about his life which she will cherish. She didn’t know much at all so has a history of his life for her enjoyment as well as her children knowing who ‘Poppy’ is. I thought the idea was a good one as I wish I had asked my Mum and Dad more questions about their lives before they died.

This year, I will be starting Your Weekly Boost: Living Life in Full Bloom, a Newsletter to inspire you to thrive and savour every moment of life after 50. Each Monday, start your week with Your Weekly Boost which will offer simple, practical ideas to help you feel vibrant and grounded in your life’s journey. Whether you’re exploring new ways to care for your body, staying active, or finding inspiration to nurture your well-being, Life in Full Bloom is here to help you live each day with intention.

Starting today I’m overcoming one of my fears and publishing a poem I wrote about blooming

Previous WOTY

Each year from 2016 I’ve chosen a WOTY and I’ve usually selected my word as early as November. My previous WOTY have included:

  • 2016 I wanted to find more BALANCE in my life.
  • 2017 I wanted to SIMPLIFY.
  • 2018 I wanted to THRIVE and in
  • 2019 I chose two words – COMMIT AND EVOLVE.
  • 2020 I chose a statement – MAKE IT HAPPEN
  • 2021 I chose to put the focus on SELF and where I was placing my energy ‘I needed to embrace my SELF and live my life with the focus of keeping what SERVES me WELL and LETTING GO of what is holding me back and making me feel trapped in life‘
  • 2022 I chose BE – Just BE – living life your way
  • 2023 I chose TIME – to use my Time wisely
  • 2024 I chose FREEDOM – the freedom to choose how I live my life

Happy New Year and here’s to being fit & fabulous after 50 living life in full bloom!

Love it! And I love you’re writing your memoir too.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 6, 2025 at 12:46

Thanks, Jo my memoir won’t be anything to publish but I want the kids and grandchildren to know a little about their Mum and their family history. It will probably take me all year but that’s fine, it is a project I can work on. x

Hi Jen, yes I feel happy about my WOTY and feeling quite inspired by it to write my weekly newsletter with ideas and thoughts. xx

A lovely choice of words Sue – it was on my list for 2025 too. I think we’re all becoming more aware of how short life is, and how we need to really appreciate and enjoy this phase of it.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 6, 2025 at 12:48

Yes I’ll be 68 this year, Leanne so the clock it ticking. Hopefully I’ll have a few more hours on the clock before midnight LOL 🙂 Happy New Year! x

I just love your post about your word “Bloom” for 2025! The word I have chosen is Thrive. After I chose it I realised it rhymes with 2025, so I want to thrive in 2025 after making the huge life change of moving from Tasmania to Queensland. I plan to thrive in my new home and being closer to my family.
I love the poem and the AI image, especially as it has my personal symbol of a butterfly.
I look forward to your weekly posts. Xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 6, 2025 at 12:49

Hi Christine, yes the butterfly always makes me think of you. Thrive is the perfect word for you and the stage you are now in. 2025 will definitely be your year to enjoy and thrive in your new life. xx

Bloom is a great word! I’m not doing a word of the year this year, but have a sort of theme of movement and pastures new.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 6, 2025 at 12:51

Hi Barbara, themes are a great idea and yours sound very interesting. Movement and pastures new – I like it! x

  • Reply Janine January 6, 2025 at 13:21

Oh I love your WOTY – very inspirational and perfect for you, following on from freedom and joy.
    I also love your poem.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 7, 2025 at 05:42

Thanks Janine! When I think about my WOTY I feel excited so that’s a good thing. I was a bit embarrassed about the poem but you sometimes have to do what you fear, don’t you? Happy New Year to you x

  • Reply Retirement Reflections January 6, 2025 at 13:25

Hi, Sue – Bloom is such an inspirational word. I also love your mantra, “If not now, when?” It’s such a powerful reminder to us all to seize the moment and live fully. Thank you for being a true example of living with purpose and vitality. <3

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 7, 2025 at 05:43

Thanks, Donna. We do have to seize the moment and we can talk about WOTY and other things but we actually need to start living and making the most of each day. I’m excited when I think of my WOTY and what directions it might take me in 2025. x

  • Reply marsha57 January 6, 2025 at 14:24

I think your WOTY is perfect for you at this moment in time, Sue! You are truly living your life in FULL BLOOM! I did a mini retreat at our church titled “If Not Now, When.” It was geared more toward service, but there were parts I really need to reread and apply to my own life. I loved your poem. It’s beautiful.

This is a lovely focus for the year, Sue. The concept of being in full bloom is so relevant to midlife – whether blooming is something we’ve reached or that we’re striving for.
“If not now, when?” is also a very sound attitude, at any age!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 7, 2025 at 05:46

Thanks Susanne. The word came to me late last year and stayed with me so I know I’ve made the right choice. I’m looking forward to see where BLOOM takes me in 2025. It was great you could join us and I love your WOTY – Courage! xx

Bloom is a fantastic word at any age, but as a fellow journeyer also in my 60s, I appreciate it now more than ever. Good for you in writing your memoir this year! I am completing a year of Storyworth questions for my daughter. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been worth it.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric January 7, 2025 at 05:40

Thanks Lisa. The word came to me late last year and stayed. It fills me with excitement when I think about the possibilities. I’ve not heard of Storyworth so might take a look. I wish I had asked my Mum and Dad more questions before they died in 1986 and 1981. Happy New Year! xx

That AI picture is very cool and definitely embodies your word and mantra. I feel a little in limbo right now but by the end of the month, I think I will be ready to tackle the year and its possibilities! Right now just feel like tying loose ends and resetting is my main goal.

Hi Mireille, I’ve not used AI for an image before and thought I would give it a tray. I was pretty happy with the result. You will know when you are ready to move forward so just go with how you are feeling. Happy New Year! x

This is just the most perfect word for you Sue! I always think of you as bright and full of life so bloom is all that and more. Thanks for your thoughts on how you will share bloom with us during 2025, I can’t wait to see where it takes you. Your image and poem are brilliant too, as is the news you’re publishing your memoir for your family, such a great idea. It’s been a great linkup with everyone sharing their words and I’ve learnt a lot! Thanks for co-hosting, we all make a great team. x

I love this for you, Sue. And I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on being in full bloom, especially the fact that as the petals fall, new blooms sprout up. Being in full bloom doesn’t mean reaching the end, but an openness and a fullness. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your poetry. It’s lovely.

So glad to join you gals for this link up. I enjoyed reading how you have selected your word in the past and more recently. It’s great when the word finds you. I agree with the comments of others that being in full bloom doesn’t mean coming to the end but faded blooms lead to new plants and more blooms in the future. This especially resonated with me: “…reaching a stage of growth, fulfillment, and self-realization.” I love that about being in this season of life. I like who I am better than I ever have before. And I like the freedom this chapter of life allows. Looking forward to following along on your journey as you bloom through 2025.
