Kickstart your day with lemon in water

It seems at the moment everywhere we turn, lemon in warm water is being promoted.  I have actually heard about this years ago however have never tried it.  Our personal trainer, recently suggested that a glass of lemon juice in warm water first up each morning can do wonders.  She advised drinking it and then waiting say 15 minutes before eating or drinking anything else.

So why is lemon juice in water so good for you?

Lemons are a great source of Vitamin C and are jam packed with other nutrients like calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, B-complex.  They are a great source of fibre.

So what are the benefits of drinking lemon juice in water?

1.  Cleanses your System

Drinking a glass of lemon juice in warm water can assist in cleansing your body of toxins and stimulates your liver.

2. Aids the digestive process

Lemon juice can help to relieve symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, burping, and bloating, all of these can be painful and uncomfortable.   The acid in lemon juice is similar to the natural juices produced by the stomach. It will help keep your digestive system in good working order allowing food to be digested properly and quickly.

3. Strengthens Your Immune System

High in Vitamin C, lemon juice also contains iron which is necessary for keeping your immune system working.  It also can protect against flu and colds.  Vitamin C can also assist with your stress levels.

4. Anti-Aging Properties

Did you know that starting this simple morning routine can improve the condition of your skin? Note:  Don’t forget to clean your teeth afterwards as the acid can wear away the enamel on your teeth.

    My mum, dad and my aunt have been doing this for over a year and it’s been great for them. The only thing is you need to drink it with a straw and in one sitting as the acidity eats at the teeth’s enamel.

    Good reasons! I drink infused water all day, either with lemon, mint or cinnamon. I think they all have similar benefits.
