Making March Meaningful

#MakingMarchMeaningful is coming to Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond!

February was all about #FitFabFeb2019 and I do hope that you found some inspiration and motivation to keep moving forward with the goals you set.

My philosophy is about a holistic lifestyle change, not a quick fix. When I say Holistic I am referring to all areas of our lives – physically, mentally, spiritually and relationships. In Week 4 of #FitFabFeb2019 it was time to Review, Reassess and Reset. Taking the time to review and reassess our goals and progress to determine if they are still relevant is important, especially if we have allowed life to take over. We can always press the Reset button as change is a continual process.

What is Making March Meaningful?

#FitFabFeb2019 was about keeping the focus on areas of mind, body and soul in your own way to improve your lifestyle, health and happiness.

#MakingMarchMeaningful continues with lifestyle changes but with the emphasis on looking at ways to bring meaning to our lives. It will also be learning and improving ways to be more mindful and appreciating the small things in life.

It is about seriously making gratitude part of our day and not just giving it ‘lip service’.

It is about ways we can keep evolving, learning and growing and making each day count.

Perhaps you have had some major changes in your life and not sure what to do now? #MakingMarchMeaningful will help you define what you want and provide strategies to achieve that new chapter in your life.

I recently read a great post by Christie Hawkes, ‘The Painful Beauty of Impermanence’ and it resonated with me that even thought we say ‘live each moment’ we don’t necessarily live that way.

Christie writes:

What if we treated each encounter with another living being as if it would be our last contact?

What if we looked at the beauty of each sunrise or sunset as if it would be our final glimpse?

What if we savored each bite of food as if it would be the final taste?

Would we be more present in the moment?

Would we give each of our senses the proper attention?

#MakingMarchMeaningful is about taking time to review where you are now, and if the life you are living is the life which brings you happiness and contentment.

It’s about recognizing that simple things can bring meaning to life and that sometimes we can be looking for more rather than actually seeing and appeciating what we have.

I believe that because we are individuals we can’t all follow the same plan. We need to find what works for us in creating a life that fulfills our needs and desires .

#MakingMarchMeaningful is about living your authentic life not the life others want you to live.

How will Making March Meaningful work?

So here is my plan…..

Daily except Sunday which will be our Unplug & Reconnect with life day the same as #FitFabFeb2019…

Hi Sue, another ambitious and thought provoking month ahead of us! I’m looking forward to your tips and thoughts, as always, for making our lives more meaningful. I agree that many times we could just stop and appreciate what we have, and be grateful and satisfied for it, rather than always looking for that ‘thing’ we don’t have. xo

Hi Candi, I’m on a roll and so I’m running with it. I hope that you will enjoy following through March and hopefully gain some inspiration for your daily life. Have a great week. xx

I’m trying but I have the worst monkey mind. I’m always bouncing ahead and not staying present.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 27, 2019 at 10:20

I have a monkey mind too, Marya so I’m a WIP with mindfulness but at least I’m giving it a try. Hope you will join me in Making March Meaningful xx

Hi Sue, making life meaningful has been a very important part of my midlife redesign. I spent years working too hard and not spending time on my self or my own path or my own health and wellness. I now spend every morning prioritizing my day to make sure that it is not just productive but that I am engaged in life giving things and purposeful work and meaningful relationships. My life is so much richer for it.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 27, 2019 at 10:21

I feel the same Michele although it has only been the last year or so that I have truly tried to make my life more meaningful. Like you each morning I plan my day including not just blogging but my health and wellness program, exploring and spending time with family and friends. I agree that life is much richer by taking the time to plan. Have a beautiful week. xx

Another fabulous idea Sue! You’re keeping busy! This will be a good one for me because I still don’t know what I want to do with myself! Maybe this might help me gain more clarity. I’m looking forward to it! 🙂 xo

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 28, 2019 at 09:06

Hi Min, I think I’m finally working out what I want to do. I’ve completed a Health & Nutrition Coaching Certificate and working on becoming an Accredited Life Coach. I believe I can help others but also am learning to help myself. Glad you are on board for #MakingMarchMeaningful xx

You’re really on a roll with all these monthly themes Sue – it’s lovely that you feel inspired to encourage the rest of us to be our best selves. I particularly liked it where you said “It’s about recognizing that simple things can bring meaning to life and that sometimes we can be looking for more rather than actually seeing and appeciating what we have.” It’s definitely something I’m learning. Thanks again for co-hosting MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 28, 2019 at 09:07

Not sure if these monthly themes will be a permanent thing but I do like to mix things up as you know, Leanne. I won’t be doing AtoZ this year so I thought of other ways to work around themes. Thanks for sharing and being my co-host for MLSTL I really look forward to it each week. xx

You’ve had another busy and accomplished month Sue. I am in awe of you and how you keep hitting your goals and keeping on. And now another great idea for a challenge which everyone in this busy 21st Century can relate to. Everywhere I look and don’t look I keep seeing thought provoking ideas for slowing down, tips for not burning out, ways to slow your home and life and more. It seems this century has really heralded a new movement. I loved the quote by Victor E Frank, “The Meaning of Life is to Give Life Meaning,” and I’ve pinned it to my Inspiration Board. I’m going to read Christie’s post about impermanence too, as the notion of ‘home’ was discussed in depth at the Perth Writer’s Festival recently, with some writers saying that home has become impermanent – with global climate warming many people will have to leave home and move, and job scarcity will create impermanence when it comes to home too. Great post, thank you. Sharing on SM.

Thank you Jo, As you would know it does take a bit of work to get these themes together but if I’m helping others and encouraging them, then it is definitely worth it. We all need ways to find that balance between pushing towards our goals and remembering it is okay to have downtime too. Have a great week! xx

  • Reply Debbie February 27, 2019 at 19:28

Hi Sue, I also enjoyed reading Christie’s post and am looking forward to your March posts. You are such a powerhouse with your monthly themes and giving us all tips and thoughts top keep us going! Thanks so much for all you do. I’ll be joining in with you! Sharing for #mlstl

Hi Deb, sometimes I think I overdo it but if I’m enjoying something I do tend to get on a roll! I don’t have all the answers but I can at least get people thinking and that is my goal. Have a great week and so pleased you are joining me. xx

  • Reply Jennifer February 27, 2019 at 21:17

I love the idea of stopping to pause and truly savoring the moment. It’s a much better option than just going through the motions of life. Why not truly live life and experience it? Great reminder, great post.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 28, 2019 at 09:12

Hi Jennifer, it is not easy to pause and savour as there is always something claiming our time. I don’t think any of us can be reminded enough of the benefit of pausing and just enjoying our life. Have a great week and thank you for stopping by to comment. xx

  • Reply Christie Hawkes February 27, 2019 at 23:08

First, thank you Sue for the encouragement to keep my goals in focus during February. It truly was a #FitFabFeb! Also, thank you for the shout out. I’m glad my post resonated with you and was timely for #MakingMarchMeaningful. Even with the effort I have been putting into being mindful, it is so easy to slip into my head–overthinking, planning, reliving. I’m sure your guidance in March will help. I’m looking forward to it. #MLSTL

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 28, 2019 at 09:13

I loved your post Christie and it certainly fit well with my theme. I tend to overthink and plan so I’m hoping I will take some of my own advice during March. I’m so pleased you will be joining in. Have a great week! xx

This was brought home to me yesterday when Sarah came home from work and left half an hour later to go to uni & I didn’t notice – despite the fact that she’d walked past my office and said hello and goodbye. Apparently, I responded but I don’t recall doing so. #wakeupcall

Hi Jo, you have a lot going on at the moment so don’t be too hard on yourself. It is a good reminder though that we can get so caught up we don’t even recall talking to someone else. Bring on NZ! xx

Hi Denyse, I’m sure we can all add to the list and ideas but my aim is to bring the focus and then readers can perhaps think what they can do to add more meaning to their lifes. Have a great week and thank you for your kind words. xx

    Hi Sue,
I love what you are planning for the month! I always look forward to your posts, and to your guest authors, too.
I feel that I am behind this week…have traveled from Florida to snowy Michigan to can for my brother who is recovering from cancer surgery. The blog and my screen time have not been priorities, to say the least.
But, even if I don’t comment, please know that I am catching up with the posts, when I can.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric March 3, 2019 at 16:11

Thanks Nancy I seem to have adopted a themed month for the last couple of months so I will see how long that lasts! Don’t worry about commenting, I know that life gets busy for all of us and I hope your brother is recovering well. You have your priorities right and that is the main thing. Sending love and hugs. x

  • Reply Christine March 2, 2019 at 08:28

Hi Sue, what an awesome inspiration you are to me and all your members! You truly are gifted with encouragement and steps for us to appreciate and change the little things in our lives that make a big difference. It hit me hard when I was able to attend my grandchildren school assembly when I visited in Melbourne last week, where William who has autism was asked to make an announcement as sports captain. Such a simple thing but when he finished he came over and gave me a hug. I realised how much I miss out on their lives living in different states , but at the same time full of gratitude for being there and sharing in his special moment. Living more intentionally is my focus this year. Thank you for the difference you make in my life as my friend, mentor and Life Coach. I am so blessed. Xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric March 3, 2019 at 16:16

I feel very humbled by your words, Christine but also happy that you feel our work together has been a positive experience. It must be difficult for you living away from your grandchildren but on the flip side they don’t take you for granted and it is a special treat for everyone when you do visit. How lovely for William to be Sports Captain, you must be very proud. I hope you enjoy Making March Meaningful and will contribute some of your own thoughts during the month. xx

  • Reply Miriam March 6, 2019 at 13:57

Oh, I love this so much. Making each day of the month meaningful is what I wrote in my Gratitude Journal at the start of the month so this resonates so deeply with me. Savouring the simple things, slowing everything down and looking for the beauty and meaning in every day. I’m definitely with you Sue. Have a fabulous month ahead lovely lady. You and your themes are very inspiring. xx

    • Reply Sue Loncaric March 7, 2019 at 10:03

We are certainly on the same page then Miriam! I hope you enjoy following along and find some inspiration along the way. Have a beautiful month and I’m pleased you find the themes inspiring. xx
