May 31, 2024

Welcome to What’s Been On Your Calendar? 2024! I hope you have had a wonderful month and if you are linking up I can’t wait to hear about what you’ve been doing. If you don’t blog I still would love to hear from you so you can leave a comment and tell me what’s been happening with you.

I’d love you to pause, make a cuppa and take your time reading through what’s been on my calendar? #WBOYC

#WBOYC? May 2024

I have decided that I will continue with the focus on ‘being an active participant in life”. It is a fun way to explore new things as well as keeping my health and fitness in check. May and the cooler temps are finally here. I certainly notice it when I get up at 4:30am on Saturdays to meet my friend for an early morning run.

May was another month, and looking back through my Instagram photos there is much to be grateful for. A little slower than April but still being active in life. Celebrating family birthdays, a 3 night-stay in Stanthorpe which was lovely. You can read my itinerary and see photos of the beautiful cottage where we stayed, HERE. plus birthdays of family and friends, cooking, running, podcasting, book clubbing including some book club baking which we haven’t done for a while, and of course regular exercising.

So here is my May in photos with a summary list of what I’ve been up to.

In summary my #WBOYC? – May 2024 :

Some highlights from my month:

  • Getaway to Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt
  • Catching Up with a friend from Tassie and the Groovy Grans
  • Celebrating birthdays – Mike and my grandson, Elliot is now 6!
  • Book Club Baking & Book Club meetings
  • Taking sessions in the Strong Healthy Women Online Studio – I love helping Women Over 50 stay fit and active
  • Mother’s Day run – a tradition which my daughter and I have done for over 10 years, running in memory of my Mum who died from breast cancer 40 years ago this coming June 5.
  • Time in the kitchen – Using my airfryer more and successfully making a delicious Lemon & Rosemary roasted chicken. Plus throwing together a delicious pasta meal with two small cans of tuna and baking Elliot’s birthday cake.
  • Reflecting on musical influences for the Tell Us About…. link up. You can see the post at the end.
  • Booking a 6-night trip to Cairns, North Queensland for the end of July
  • Trying some new hair and makeup products
  • Writing a free e-book resource for subscribers ‘How to Live a Vibrant and Fulfilling Life after 50 – Being an active participant in life’
  • Finally making a Doctor’s appointment for a skin check and to arrange a bone density test and sports massage.

A 3-night getaway to Stanthorpe (link to my review post below)

In the Kitchen

Mike spoilt me making a delicious steak and mushroom fettucine as we reintroduced our Home Restaurant Date Nights.

Running for Mother’s Day and my Mum

Social Catchups & Birthdays

The highlights for May were celebrating Mike’s birthday during the first week and my grandson Elliot’s birthday on 29th. I made a special dinner for Mike making a Herb Roasted chicken for the first time in the air-fryer and tried my hand at individual lava cakes which didn’t look great but tasted good.

Back in the kitchen to make Elliot’s birthday cake – A Jurassic World cake for his 6th birthday celebrations.

Trying new products

Brands I’m working with

I’m now an affiliate with Happy, Healthy Fitness Active wear, a Melbourne designed brand which I recently discovered and Fella Hamilton. Both companies are based in Australia and you can enjoy a discount on both sites by using the code SUE10.

Although I managed the usual blog posts I found it hard going this month. I had a creative block so let go of blogging and found that a very short break helped bring back my mojo. As always, I have been inspired by others, plus brimming with ideas from life as well as writing prompts, in addition to my usual link ups which I co-host or contribute to.

I’m also co-hosting Wednesday Words & Whimsy, with Debbie from Deb’s World 29th May and 5th June again as we step in for Min from Write of the Middle as she celebrates a very special birthday in Fiji.

I’m grateful for the considered and encouraging comments I’ve been receiving and feel I’m back on track with what I want to share with you all.

I’ve listed my May posts below in case you missed any of them.

Celebrating Friendship and a 50th with High Tea
May 10 on the 10th
3-night Getaway to Stanthorpe & the Granite Belt

The Women Living Well After 50 Podcast

Season 7 is well underway and I’ve completed and scheduled 10 interviews to date with more in the pipeline. Episodes 7 and 8 in Season 7 are listed below in case you missed them. I know you will enjoy listening to them and would love your feedback.

Amy K Wilson - Why Balance Blood Sugar Levels is the key to overall health

I linked up with

  • Gail from Is this Mutton? for the monthly Tell Us About link up – this month’s prompt was Legacy. A prompt we all struggled with but our posts came up trumps.
  • Min from Write of the Middle for her Wednesday Words and Whimsey and was honoured to be a co-host and support Min who had to step away from hosting duties for a week because of her sick Mum and life in general. Min is now back co-hosting and it is wonderful to have her back.
  • Hosted What’s On Your Bookshelf? with my lovely friends Debbie, Donna & Jo
  • I started co-hosting a new-to-me link up the Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot! with the lovely Marsha from Marsha in the Middle, Melynda, from Scratch Made Food for Hungry People, and Lisa, from Boondock Ramblings

Well, that’s what’s been on my calendar and I Iook forward hearing what you’ve been up to. I’m sharing my co-hosts’ links as well so remember to pop over and visit to see how their month progressed.

You had a busy month, Sue! I think that birthday cake is just the best! I loved baking cakes for my grands when they were little. My oldest granddaughter thought I could bake anything! I surely do miss those days. Your mini vacation at Stanthorpe looks like heaven.

Thank you for being such an inspiration to me! I’ll link up my monthly post once it’s live.

It was so good, Jo and even though it was only 3 nights we saw a great deal but still felt rested and relaxed. Off to Cairns in July so looking forward to that escape. x

I have found time while driving to catch up on some of your podcasts and have enjoyed them. I am so glad you had a great get away and have another one planned. I sure love the athletic wear you have been modeling. Is this fitness class that you teach on line? I would be interested but i guess it depends on how it works. Bernie

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2024 at 09:03

HI Bernie, I haven’t heard from you in a while and hope all is well. Glad you enjoyed the podcast and there are more on the way. I’m not sure the hours would fit for the Online classes, Bernie. I could send you the link for Peta at Strong Healthy Women if you would like more information. Have a great week. x

Things are good. Days full of the things I love but sometimes, especially in the spring with yard work, not enough down time!

        • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2024 at 09:15

Good to hear, Bernie. I had missed you x

Insta is a great record of what we’ve been up to isn’t it Lydia? Sometimes I don’t even remember what I’ve done so it’s a surprise when I look back. WE had a great time in Stanthorpe – just the break we needed. x

You’ve had a busy month Sie but it’s great to see there has been much happiness for you. The dreaded bloggers block can hit at any time, I’ve found. Good to see that you’re motoring on through it.

You did indeed have a busy month, Sue. Nice work on the Mother’s Day run and the adorable cake! And the fettuccine looks delicious. Here’s to a joyful June!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 3, 2024 at 09:34

Thanks, Christie. May is one of my favourite months because of Mother’s Day and our tradition. Elliot loved is cake and ‘Nan’ nailed the brief! x

Glad that stepping back from blogging just a little brought back your blogging mojo. I can think of a dozen posts I would like to write but finding the time to do so is the problem. Hope that when my children and grandchildren reflect back on my life, they will view me as an active participant in my own life and theirs. Love that you bake the grandbabies’ birthday cakes. And look at Mike, happy as a lark in the kitchen. His beef and noodles dish looks scrumptious. Kind of like a stroganoff. Glad you and your daughter continued the tradition of running on Mother’s Day in your mama’s memory. Good for you girls!!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 5, 2024 at 09:14

I go up and down with my blogging, Leslie. Sometimes I love it and other times it feels like a chore that I just can’t give up LOL 🙂 Elliot loved his birthday cake and Mike made a delicious meal for us. The Mother’s Day run is a non-negotiable for Rachel and I which is a lovely tradition to keep going. Take care and thanks for visiting. x

  • Reply Kirstin Troyer June 6, 2024 at 04:07

Do you all cook together from start to finish? That Cake is awesome!!!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric June 6, 2024 at 10:53

For the birthday cake, I usually do those but Mike and I like cooking together as well as making dinners for each other. x

  • Reply KymPossible June 6, 2024 at 14:25

Indeed you lived well! the getaway and the mother’s day run both look like great fun!
