April 26, 2024

Welcome to What’s Been On Your Calendar? 2024! I hope you have had a Marvelous March and if you are linking up I can’t wait to hear about what you’ve been doing. If you don’t blog I still would love to hear from you so you can leave a comment and tell me what’s been happening with you.

I’d love you to pause, make a cuppa and take your time reading through what’s been on my calendar? #WBOYC

#WBOYC? April 2024

Ahh April! and Autumn has arrived and we are enjoying cooler temperatures at last. Most of April was taken up with the ‘Being An Active Participant in Life Challenge’ and daily inspirational posts on social media. I think I certainly was living my word and we even managed a short getaway to Stanthorpe and the wineries.

April was another month of variety for me – Celebrating our wedding anniversary plus birthdays of family and friends, fashion shoots, high tea, cooking, running, recovering from my second shingles vaccination, podcasting, book clubbing, exercising.

My blogging focus was on my Being An Active Participant in Life Challenge where I posted prompts and ideas each day on social media. Being an active participant in life is more than just keeping our bodies healthy with exercise. It is about looking at all areas of our lives – physical, mental, spiritual and social in order to Live Well and Enjoy Life.

I think I achieved that this month. So here is my April in photos with a summary list of what I’ve been up to.

In summary my #WBOYC? – April 2024 :

Some highlights from my month:

  • Celebrating 26 years of marriage and 31 years as a couple.
  • Celebrating my daughter’s 43rd birthday. She loves ice cream cake so I made her a Pina Colada Ice Cream cake which was delicious. It was a healthy version but still tasted good! You can find the recipe HERE
  • Feeling glamourous and Celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday with a delicious High Tea at the W Hotel in Brisbane. It was lovely to put on some makeup and dress up for the occasion after not feeling well post Shingles Vaccination. I rediscovered this navy dress with white butterflies which I’ve never worn, and paired it with a red jacket and lips for a pop of colour.
  • Taking sessions in the Strong Healthy Women Online Studio – I love helping Women Over 50 stay fit and active
  • Having a few days laying low after my second Shingles Vaccination – that alternative would be worse.
  • Fashion shoots for Fella Hamilton’s Mother’s Day campaign featuring the Lila print by Anna Blatman. I loved the colourful print which comes in a long sleeved top and a gorgeous umbrella! Here is the link if you would like to treat you or your Mum and remember to use code: SUE10 for a discount. https://fellahamilton.com.au/products/lila-anna-blatman-long-sleeve-top-blue-mix
  • Fashion shoot for an upcoming affiliation with Happy, Healthy Fitness an Australian designed brand, reasonably priced and so comfortable to wear.
  • Reflecting on my Personal Style now and then – It was my turn to select the prompt for this month’s Tell Us About Link Up. I chose Your Personal Style and was brave enough to include some photos of my younger years and fashion/hair faux pas. 🙂
  • Remembering those who have fought to keep our country free – ran in the Run Army 10km event leading up to ANZAC Day. My way of supporting my husband who was a Vietnam Veteran and all those brave men and women who served their country in combat zones.
  • Enjoying being social with the Groovy Grannies regular lunch catch up
  • Preparing to celebrate my grandson’s 10th birthday on 28th – I’ll put the cake photo in next month’s catch up.
  • Preparing for a short getaway to Stanthorpe next week which I’m looking foward to.

Another enjoyable month of blogging in April and once again I have been inspired by others, plus brimming with ideas from life as well as writing prompts, in addition to my usual link ups which I co-host or contribute to.

I’m grateful for the considered and encouraging comments I’ve been receiving and feel I’m back on track with what I want to share with you all.

Hi, Sue – This is such an uplifting post filled with delightful gems. You have been a wonderful model for the “Be An Active Participant in Life Challenge.’ You have definitely been living your WOTY. And speaking of model, your fashion photos are stunning. You have a great eye for clothes that suit you perfectly. Happy belated anniversary to you and Mike. I look forward to catching up with you very soon.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2024 at 08:48

Hi Donna, I have to give Mike some credit as the photographer – he makes me look good LOL 🙂 x

  • Reply Jo April 26, 2024 at 08:32

Congratulations on your anniversary—it’s lovely that you got some time away together. We have ours coming up in a week or so. I enjoyed following along with your active participant series—although following was all I did, given that I’ve been decidedly inactive recently. Thanks for the inspiration.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2024 at 08:49

Thanks, Jo. We had a fab time away but didn’t want to come home. x

I am glad to have been inspired by your Active April. I am still working away at it. This is a great wrap up. I have a friend who does a veterans run every year in honour of her son who died and she finds it the most touching one she does all year. I suspect it is the same for you. Congrats on the anniversary. All that and a reno…!! I am one podcast behind so will listen in the next few days. It’s funny but now I can hear your voice in my head when I read your posts! Bernie

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2024 at 08:50

Hi Bernie, thank you as always for your encouraging comments and support. I truly appreciate it. x

Sue, you are such an inspiration! I love that photo of your back with your muscles showing. If I could, I’d print it out and put it on my mirror to inspire me every day! You are such a beautiful woman, inside and out! Happy Anniversary to you and your husband! I will link up tomorrow after my post goes live.

Such an inspiring post – makes me want to get up off the sofa…and of course you had a month with celebrations too.

Interesting about the shingles vaccine – I have just read two posts back to back on how awful people have felt after having it. I’ll be due mine this year, so good to know I might feel awful.

  • Reply Lydia C. Lee April 27, 2024 at 07:33

Congratulations on the wedding anniversay – we are 25 years but 32 together…It’s wild to think you’ve been living with one person (that you didn’t give birth to – ha!) for so long. It doesn’t feel like that but you can’t remember ‘before’.
Love the goovy grannies. That’s so hilarious. Also love High Teas. They seem so decadent because it’s not something we do very often….#WBOYC

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2024 at 08:56

I know, Lydia, I find it hard to believe that Mike and I have been together for so long. I’ve lived with him longer than anyone else in my life. x

A delightful month! The pina colada ice cream cake sounds divine. You look so confident and stylish in your bolder colours and lipstick. Love it! The weather is certainly cooler here (London) but it should be warming up by now, so we’re all champing at the bit!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 9, 2024 at 08:57

Hi Gail, the pina colada ice cream cake was a hit and tasted delicious. Thank you for your kind words about my style and lipstick. Red really puts you out there, doesn’t it? x

Woman, you look amazing from head to toe. Check out your scultped shoulders and back and your complexion is just beautiful. Red and that medley of blues are your colors.

Congratulations on your anniversary. And the activities you enjoyed as a part of the Active Participant in Life challenge. I know of no one who embraces life better.

I have pinned that divine cake recipe. Oh, my goodness. I have everything to make it!! But I have dried chopped dates. Wonder if I could use those? It looks so tasty.
