Spring has arrived ‘Down Under’ although in Brisbane, where I live it feels like we have been having Spring weather for most of Winter. Glorious sunny days and temperatures much higher than normal. Crisp cool mornings and evenings with clear blue skies.
I love Spring and the renewal of life and energy that seems to fill the air. You just want to get out there and enjoy the beauty of nature. Spring to me means new beginnings and a feeling of hope. It is also Jacaranda time when the gorgeous purple flowers are in full bloom during October and November.
Now Leslie from Once Upon A Happy Ever After previously asked me to join with a Summer Bucket list. Of course, living in Australia our seasons are the opposite to my Northern Hemisphere friends so I produced my Winter Bucket List.
I’m joining in again but while some are making their ‘Fall’ (or Autumn as we call it) Bucket List mine will be all about Spring. This is Brisbane, Queensland where I live and also I’ve included some photos of the Gold Coast where we have an apartment. As you can see, we have gorgeous weather and sunshine!

My Bucket List for Spring
Health & Wellness
- Continue my bi-weekly runs with my Saturday Sisters. The running event season is over but we still love our catch ups twice a week not only to keep our running fitness but because of our wonderful friendship.
- Revise my workout program – I would like to introduce yoga twice weekly and one or two PT strength sessions per week
- Try some smoothie recipes
Travel
- Enjoy our holiday to Europe visiting Portugal, Spain & Italy plus a Mediterranean Cruise
- Experience different foods from different cultures
- Escape to our apartment at the Coast at least fortnightly
Self Awareness
- Continue my Course – ‘A year to clear what is holding you back’
- Finish Thrive – The Third Metric to redefining success and creating a life of well being by Arianna Huffington in conjunction with my Thrive Journal from Kikki K.
Revamp my wardrobe
Spring is a good time to declutter the wardrobe and actually see what I do have, what I need and what I probably need to get rid of.
Start preparing for Christmas – I know it is only September but December will be here before we know it!
Having a blended family means that we don’t all get together on Christmas day. So we have our full family Christmas a week before. My husband and I love preparing for the day and filling Santa Sacks with goodies for the grandchildren.
- Start looking for gifts to load up the Santa Sacks
- Organise homemade baking gifts for friends
- Prepare menu
What would be on your bucket list for Spring?
Let’s Keep Sizzling!

I love your well-rounded list, Sue. It seems you’ve got all your bases covered. I too am starting to prepare for Christmas. When you have a blended family with four grown children, 10 grandchildren, and a large extended family, there is a lot of planning required. September is not too early to get started! Happy spring to you!
~Christie
Oh wow Christie what a blended family you have! Ours only stretch to 12 with children, stepchildren and grandchildren. You would need to start planning now. Enjoy your Fall and I’m heading over to check out your list. xx
I can’t wrap my mind around Christmas in the summer! I’ll bet it’s crazy fun though!
I know it is crazy isn’t it Jamie. That is why this year we decided to have Christmas in July so we could enjoy all the yummy mulled wine, turkey and trimmings in a cooler temperature rather than 35C! LOL:)
Your trip is going to be amazing!! I think if that were me—it’d be the only thing on my list!!!
XOXO

Well Jodie it will take up the majority of my time won’t it? I can’t wait though. xxxx
Your upcoming trip sounds lovely – I’m so jealous! haha I need to start thinking more about Christmas too. It’s coming quick.
-Lauren
Oh yes Lauren I am getting excited now that is for sure. The next week will fly! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by. You are welcome to hop in my suitcase if you want too! LOL:)
A great list, Sue! I like to tweak my workout program about every 4-5 weeks to keep it moderately challenging for me. Look forward to reading your updates. Have a beautiful Spring!
Yes you need to mix your workout up a bit to fight the boredom don’t you? I’m looking forward to reading about your trip to Ireland – lucky duck!
Sue, sounds like you’re going to be on a well-rounded program. Keep up the good work. Spring is my favorite season, with autumn a close second.
Yes Spring is my favourite season Jean although we have hit Summer straight away in Australia. This weekend we are expecting 35C which is Summer weather!!! I do love the Fall colours in North America though – just stunning.
That’s a great spring bucket list! I’ll have to divide my next list into categories, too!
Have a wonderful spring!
Hi Andrea! I find it easier to have categories so I can think of what I would like to add to each part of my life. You enjoy your Fall – the colours are always so glorious.
Just how gorgeous is jacaranda time? And it’s about a month earlier up here. I’m looking forward reading about your travels – & keeping up on instagram. Oh, and I love how you’ve divided your list into categories…
Yes the Jacarandas are glorious Jo. I find it easier to put my thoughts into categories – I’m just a list girl at heart LOL:) Have a great weekend and can’t wait to get on that plane!
Sounds like you’ve got a busy and fun spring planned! Good idea on starting the Christmas prep. It will sneak up on us!
Christmas sure will sneak up Amber especially as I am away for the whole of October! Might do some gift shopping whilst overseas 🙂
Well Spring looks like it’s going to be a great season for you Sue – you have your travels plus all those extra curricular activities plus Christmas looming – I can’t believe we’re at that time of the year already – October in a week!!!
I know Leanne. The trip seemed so far away and now this time next week we will be preparing to fly away. That’s October done, we will just get back and Christmas will be upon us!
Your spring is our fall! The colours are changing into the most beautiful time of the year in NE Canada – beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows create spectacular landscapes that almost seem unreal. Enjoy your spring, and thanks for sharing
I was in Quebec about three years ago Sylvie and then we cruised to Nova Scotia. It was October and the Fall colours were just glorious. There is nothing like them and I would love to visit every year if I could. xx
Hi Sue! Good for you for having your intentions so well thought out. I know you are just hitting Spring now and that is the opposite of what many here in the U.S. are experiencing. But I live in the desert southwest and our summers are our “off season” so we are just getting ready to enjoy the outdoors here as well. Regardless of where we are, isn’t it good to enjoy being outside? And may all your list unfold for you perfectly! ~Kathy
Yes Kathy, I forget that not all of the US has the beautiful Fall colours or coolness. Have a great Fall anyway and enjoy! I love the outdoors too! Thanks for stopping by and would love you to be a guest writer for me.
A great list Sue! I think I’ll join you in revamping the wardrobe! All my winter rookies can go away soon, we’re starting to warmi up down here.
Hi Deb! I actually saw on Leslie’s that she would love a makeover – I would love that idea so maybe I’ll list that for Summer! Glad it is getting a little warmer for you. Have a great week!
This is a great Spring Bucket List, Sue. I can’t wait to read about your upcoming travels to Portugal, Spain, Italy and your Mediterranean Cruise.
We are just entering Autumn in BC. I don’t have an official written Bucket List. If I did, it would definitely include meeting FOUR bloggers in person this November. I wish that we would have been in Spain or Portugal at the same time. It would have been lovely to meet up there!
I know it is getting very exciting now Donna! This time next week we will only be a few hours away from take off! You are so lucky to have the blogger meet up and yes it would have been perfect to have met in Spain or Portugal. Never mind, there is always next time 🙂
My poor little mind has the hardest time with this opposite seasons stuff. I do okay with remembering that when it is autumn here it is spring there. But somehow, as I read that your were beginning to think about Christmas, just messed me all up. Spring…then Christmas? Ha! Just didn’t read right to my poor little brain.
Looking forward to learning more about the Thrive program. After reading on someone’s blog about a book on bringing better balance to your life, I ordered the book but can’t remember where I read about it! I need balance in a hurry over here. Working has put the kibosh on any organization or balance I had developed. Everything feels very helter-skelter over here.
What kinds of things go in a Santa sack? Are all of the grandchildren’s gifts in a Santa sack or are they for one gift in particular? Or candy? Will be anxious to learn more.
Oh I’m sorry to give you a headache Leslie LOL:) You do sound a little frazzled so just take a deep breath and close your eyes for a few moments. The Santa Sacks are full of little gifts all individually wrapped by my husband. The kids just love diving in to see what they have received.
OK, Sue, have to admit I’m feeling a bit freaked out that you and a few others listed Christmas preparations as part of your Bucket List items. Eeeks – it really is approaching, isn’t it!!!
So moving on (☺), love the photos of your Gold coast apartment, and sincerely hope you achieve your goal to get there more frequently. It looks to be a slice of paradise!
Yoga and smoothies – they definitely do us well as we march into our 50’s/60’s/70’s. And I really appreciate your mention of self awareness items, an area I tend to neglect.
Happy Spring!
I know Tamara but as I am away for the whole of October I need to put Christmas on my list so I can do some organising before my trip and be ready when I return! We love escaping to our apartment and hope to live full time there one day. Thanks for stopping by and you enjoy your gorgeous Fall weather and colours. xx
Sounds like you are going to have fun!
Yes, it is a lovely time of year Tuula and of course, my holiday is something I’m really looking forward to. xx
