It is almost halfway through the year and although I was determined not to make New Year Resolutions I concede that we all have dreams and goals we want to achieve. However, life is busy and we can easily get caught on the ‘treadmill of life’.
I was having a Personal Training session and my trainer told me to ‘set my intention and reset my mind’. That word ‘reset’ got me thinking about how sometimes in life we need to press the reset button and clear out the clutter and start again.
You know how a computer builds up a ‘cache’ that we need to clear? Well humans are the same – we need to clear out the clutter from our minds so that we can enjoy our life without being weighed down.
Sometimes we just need to draw a line in the sand & make changes for a happier, healthier lifestyle.Click To TweetThis was the theme I used for my article written for my monthly contribution to The Seeing Me Project, an initiative started by Miller’s Fashion to promote women 40+ and encourage them to engage in conversation, share their stories and life experiences.
You can read the full article by clicking here and I would love you to leave a comment and your thoughts.
In the article I outline reasons why we may need to press the reset button on our life and also provide my 5 easy tips to get you started.
#1 – Set a goal
#2- Embrace change
#3 – Have a makeover
#4 – Get healthy
#5 – Take a chance
Why not press the reset button on your life and make some positive changes.Click To Tweet

Right on, Sue! I like this metaphor…we do get bogged down in the situations and experiences of our lives…even old mentalities. This is an actionable plan (I hopped over to the full article) for hitting that reset button and getting out of those ruts. Thank you so much for sharing with #UpsyDaisyLinkup!
Thanks for reading the full article and we can reset the button at any time we want to. It is just a matter of recognising that we might need to.
I have been resetting for awhile now. It is a process, but changing life habits is not a quick fix. I am loving working on myself though!
Hi Michele, lovely to hear from you as always. You are so right that habits are not a quick fix to change but I’m so happy you are enjoying the process. Have a fabulous week!
Thank you Sue. I really could use a reset. Life can get so cluttered and complicated. Thanks for sharing at the Blogger’s Pit Stop.
We all go through that feeling Debbie but sometimes we don’t know how to actually do it. Life can become so cluttered we get overwhelmed. Thanks for hosting the Blogger’s Pit Stop and have a great week!
Love the idea of pushing the reset button!
Saw your post in the weekly blog lineup in Have Your Cupcake.
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Jeanine
Thank you Jeanine! I also enjoyed your contribution on clearing stress from our energy field. Have a fabulous weekend.
Will be pressing the reset button when I get back from our trip – to lose a couple of kilos! A great article Sue. x
I love this Sue, such a great message! It is so true sometimes we really do need to reset don’t we! Thank you so much for linking up too xx
Hi Mackenzie I’ve missed you! You have been so busy moving so I’m glad to see you starting to settle down. I actually remembered to link up before you reminded me LOL:)
god, I really need to reset, and get back on top of my healthy eating and exercise! thanks for reminding me to pause and check myself.. #mg
Hi there! Come over and join my #couchpotatotofabfit Facebook group. Our June Challenge will be healthier eating, exercise and finding balance. Have a great week.
I love this, I think we could all use a reset button, I know I could! This has really inspired me to take the time to assess my life and what we want out of it. Thank you. #mg
Oh I’m so pleased you liked the post Laura. Yes we all DO NEED to press the reset button from time to time. I’m really happy that I could inspire you. Have a great day and hope you visit again.
This is a brilliant post and what a wise personal trainer you have. I don’t make new year resolutions because it is always too miserable in the UK in January to keep them but I do usually have a moment of clarity by June ha! A great reminder that I need to get cracking #mg xx
Hi Lisa! Yes Nikki is fabulous and has worked wonders for me and also my darling husband. At 68 he can now spring 100 metres in 21secs and a year ago he would have had trouble walking it. I tried not to make resolutions this year as there is so much pressure when you do. I would rather take a holistic approach. Thanks for stopping by and why not pop over and join #couchpotatotofabfit one of my FB groups. We are just about to start our June challenge which will be Healthy Eating, Exercise and Finding Balance in your life.
It’s a good to look at it. I went to a course on habits of change and it said a similar thing “everyday can be a New Years day”. That’s part of the key to changing life and habits is to have a plan for when it does go wrong so it doesn’t derail you and lead back to the rut.
Thanks for sharing your insights.
#mg
I like the idea of everyday can be a New Year’s Day – it doesn’t tie us to one particular time of year but we can start over at any time. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
Reset, begin again, it’s all the same to me…pun intended! Lol, I’ve reset my life a couple of times and I’m sure there is a couple more in the future.
Hi Jennifer! Yes I think resetting needs to be a regular part of life – just like we have to reset the computer when it get stuck! Have a great week!
Hi Sue, Congratulations this post was among the top clicked in the Blogger’s Pit Stop #24. Be looking for a FEATURE on Friday. Well done.

Oh thank you Kathleen! When I read these types of emails it boosts my confidence to believe that maybe sometimes I do get my writing right! See you at the next Pit Stop.
Hitting the reset button sometimes can be the best thing we can do. Stopping to assess priorities & goals is so helpful so we can move forward with a plan. 🙂 #MG
Hi Becky! Yes it makes life easier if we can just stop for a moment and start again. I do that regularly LOL:) Have a great week.
Life is good like that – you can always set that reset button if you have to! Love the process you mapped out. I think we all deserve to reset that button now and again!
We certainly do need to reset throughout life Carolann. So pleased you enjoyed the post – have a fabulous day!
Ah! Comparing the buildup in our lives to the computer cache is brilliant! Love that!
Yep, I’m in serious need of clearing my cache, er, life. So much gunk I need to leave behind and move on. Thank you for the reminder to firmly press the reset button and move forward.
Hi Lisa I’m glad you liked the comparison it came to me in a moment of brillance which doesn’t happen too often!!! LOL:) Have a great day and you aren’t alone we all get so much junk in our brains it is a wonder we can think!
You first tweet is over the character limit, so it won’t tweet. Yes, resetting is a really good thing to do periodically.
Thanks Carol I’ll fix that. Have a great day!
This is great advice. Pressing the reset button sounds more manageable than making dramatic changes!
Yes it is more manageable and not so overwhelming Lois. I do it regularly LOL:)
I’ve reset, reinvented, regurgitated and spit out. It’s all good.
Good for you Rebecca! Have a fabulous day1
That’s so true, work out what your goal is and the steps you need to take to fulfill it and then do things once step at a time! Much easier than massive life changes all at once
Yes, small steps rather than trying to change everything overnight. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
I have one more day of school then I am resetting my body, mind and soul for summertime!
Yay for you! Enjoy your summertime – I believe you have a long summer holiday in the States? We usually have 6 weeks during our Summer for school holidays. Have a great day!
[…] Maybe it’s time to press the reset button on your life By Sue […]
I love your analogy of the computer cache!!
This post gets me thinking about all the “re” words: reboot, rethink, rewrite, reinvent, redo, refocus … There’s much to value in the “re” words!
Now if I can just “re”member to “re”set before I crash. 🙂
Oh you make me laugh! That is good. Now I will be thinking about all the ‘re’ words I know! Plenty of blog fodder there LOL:) Have a great day!
Love the concept of ‘reset’ — removes angst and makes it easy and fun…reset:))))) #blogsharelearn
Hi Cheryl, I think the concept of ‘re-set’ is easier to cope with rather than trying to make huge changes all at once. Thanks for stopping by to comment and have a lovely day.
Sue, this is so true, it really helps to clear the mind and show the way to a new freedom. Not long ago I ran over my phone, I know crazy, it was an accident. But in that phone were 15 years of treasured phone numbers, private access to some people that had worked with me in the past, or numbers that were to important people, unpublished numbers. I was just sick over the loss and these contacts could not be recovered. But about a week later I felt lighter. Not having responsibility over those people, those private numbers, the connection and my whole world changed. It was amazing. My world got smaller, but so did the weight I carried on my shoulders. I hit reset and I’ve not looked back. One of the best things that could have happened!
Hi Nikki! Yes sometimes it takes something like what happened to you to realise what is really important. I’ve been trying to step back from social media and technology because it was really taking over my life. You are right you do feel lighter don’t you and the world hasn’t ended. Thanks for always leaving an encouraging comment and have a great day!
Perfectly said! I feel like sometimes I am pushing that damn reset button over and over and OVER again, but it really is important to clear out the clutter and assess where I am.
It doesn’t matter Faye if we have to push the reset button daily – sometimes that is the way life is. The point is that we CAN start again and make changes we aren’t locked into anything we don’t want to be. Taking stock and assessing life is ongoing but we learn and grow that way.
Such wise words, Sue, and it half the battle to just recognize the right time to reset!
I think we can feel when it is time for a ‘reset’ Terri and the good thing is we don’t have to do it only once. It can be many times throughout life – life happens, things change, life becomes too busy – we just need to step back, press that reset button and start again!
I just realized I hadn’t commented here – I must have done it on your Millers post instead! Stumbled, pinned and G+’d as well x
You are so right. I think sometimes we get so bogged down we and accustomed to it that we forget we have the power to hit reset (and hit it again if necessary). and start fresh, go in a different direction, incorporate new routines. We really do have more control that we realize.
Exactly Lee you said it perfectly – we do have more control than we realise. I think that life always will throw curve balls and become overwhelming so we having the option of pressing the reset button is a safety net. Thanks for stopping by.
It is refreshing to reset and I enjoy a change in routine or a cleaning out of clutter. I was just talking about this tonight with my husband, how I it is time for an inventory of my environment and how I spend my time. So important to keep reassessing to ensure you don’t get into destructive habits. Thanks for the reminder Sue!
Yes, Molly, the good thing is that we can press reset at any time that we feel we need it. We all need to make changes occasionally so we don’t fall into a rut and we can make the most of life.
Trying to embrace the process these days! 🙂
HI Stacey! It doesn’t have to be a huge reset. Sometimes we just need a quick reboot LOL:) Thank you for stopping by.
This is so useful to all of us sometimes we let life and circumstances put us in a continuous cycle that goes nowhere so this is good
Glad you enjoyed it Lindi!
