Fit & Fabulous: Fitness Inspiration from an 86 year old Nun

Inspiration the Iron Nun

Inspiration the Iron Nun

It was a Monday afternoon and I had just finished a PT session.  I was feeling tired!  I sat down and flicked through the latest on Facebook – as you do – and I came across this video on the Popsugar Fitness Facebook page.

Next time you DON’T feel like doing something to help your health and happiness WATCH THIS VIDEO.

Short on inspiration?  WATCH THIS VIDEO!

Sister Madonna Buder or ‘The Iron Nun’ as she is known, certainly is inspiring!  She didn’t start running until she was 48 years old and at 86 is now competing in more than 40 Iron man triathalons.

I can only hope and pray that I have half of her energy when I’m her age.

Watching this video also proved that consistency, which is our April Challenge is the key to keeping in shape or achieving anything we want in life.

Part of Positive Aging is realising that we are capable of reaching any goal as long as we want it badly enough.

Age should not define us.Click To Tweet

I’m not saying we all need to be triatheletes BUT I AM SAYING that there is no reason why we can’t continue to exercise and take care of ourselves and our health.

She is a great inspiration Dee not necessarily to make us all enter triathlons but to show that age is just a state of mind.

I find the most intense workouts come when the grandkids are here. Running back and forth to empty their paint jars, bending over to pick up toys, scurrying around to locate my cats after the kids have left…..whew! When these kids grow up, then I’ll join a gym!
I love your blog – so full of energy!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric May 5, 2017 at 15:30

Oh yes Joyce I definitely agree! My grandson keeps me on my toes each Wednesday when I mind him but I love being with him so much! Thanks for the compliment re the blog and I’m so pleased you enjoyed reading the post. Have a fabulous week!
