Are you an Indoor or Outdoor person? Are you both? The topic this week on #SundayStills photography challenge, hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure, is Indoor/Outdoor decor. I started thinking about the topic and thought about how I enjoy both the Indoors as well as the Outdoors.
My Outdoor Decor
I’m fortunate to live by the ocean so my outdoor ‘decor’ is not on our balcony but rather a seat taking in the natural beauty of the beach and walking or running through the nature trails.
My Indoor Decor
Indoors I prefer cool, calm and clean lines, with pops of colour from artwork & potplants. I enjoy relaxing with a good book or spending time in my kitchen trying new recipes.

I just love your indoor decor, Sue – so elegant and contemporary. You outdoor decor is very good too!! Toni x
Thank you Toni, I find my home to be very calming and enjoy being home more often than not. x
I love the clean look of your home, Sue! Something like that is my goal too, but we still have major decluttering to do. We had to buy a much smaller house than we planned to, and moved from a quite large house in Sweden, so… we have stuff! But we’ll get there. Thanks for the renewed inspiration! Your outdoors looks incredible too!
Thank you Susanne! I love the clean lines and I’ve learned to let go of many ‘things’ as my husband is more of a minimalist than I am. I’ve learned from him. It is difficult moving from a larger home and downsizing but just take your time. As you say you will ‘get there’. Have a lovely week and thanks for visiting. xx
Hi Sue, glad you could join Sunday Stills 2 weeks in a row! You are so right that with a beach as your outdoor decor, there is not a big need for much, just the exquisite view. I love the clean, contemporary decor in your lovely home! Wall art and house plants can really define a space. I strive for clean and uncluttered as a rule, and honestly, most of the year I keep my decor to a minimum. But Autumn and Christmas decor take center stage between September and New Year’s. Thanks again for sharing for Sunday Stills. Hope all is going well with your 100-day color project!
Hi Terri, at the moment there is a lot going on in our life so I will join in when I can. I love the way you all decorate your homes for Autumn. Here is Australia it is usually just at Christmas time, but I’m thinking I should follow you and decorate in some way all year round. Thanks for visiting and also hosting Sunday Stills. x
Your indoor and outdoor decor are both exceptional. I look forward to visiting them in person one day (hopefully soon)!
I look forward to that day too! xx
Oh definitely indoor. I like ‘views’ outside but spend very little time outside – even on my verandah. A friend the other day was talking about their outdoor spaces and how they love to be on their deck or verandah but all I can ever think about is how dirty my feet would get from the dirty tiles and how I’d need to wipe down the table etc…
I take a lot of solace from the insides of my house – its space and decor and my ‘things’. (Which aren’t expensive, just special.)
Hi Deb, I do love being indoors and enjoying ‘my things’ as well. I live by the ocean but I actually don’t swim in the ocean. For me I like to sit and watch it from my balcony or walk along the shore or the esplanade. It is very relaxing.
Lovely Sue! I love the views of the beach you have and your indoor space looks elegant and very stylish!
Thanks Deb, I’m lucky to live so close to the beach but I also appreciate the beauty surrounding your home. xx
I would love to have your outdoor views Sue. These days the outdoors interests me more than indoors. When I was younger I had a huge passion for interior decorating.
Hi Jen, I am lucky to live by the beach and perhaps one day the view will be built out. We only live one street back so I’ll always have the view, I might just need to walk to it. I’m sure you find great pleasure and joy in your garden. I’ve been enjoying your posts with all your beautiful flowers.xx
I’m definitely both: we love our home and decorating it but equally love our garden which gives us a whole new world to inhabit. I do like the beach but I’m probably happier wandering through green hills and gardens. I guess that’s reflected in where we live, with seaside visits in our winter.
I actually love the green hills and gardens as well Christine, but have never lived in that environment. x
Gosh, I can see how you love your outdoors as do I, but inside is about home and family and being sheltered safely in a place for us. I admit, having a rental makes it harder to personalise, but we have to an extent and we live with that. I do know thought, that I need to get outside every single day even just to check out which of my little plants has bloomed today.
It’s been great to have you share your post this week for #lifethisweek on Denyse Whelan Blogs. Thank you. I hope you will be back next week, where the optional prompt is “young” but my guest poster, Mr Whelan, is sharing his thoughts for the final time on the blog in 2021 on a different topic. See you there, Denyse.
Hi Denyse, yes I’ve written my ‘young’ post already! I do love our ocean although I don’t really swim I love looking at the ocean and walking on the beach or esplanade. I also find my home indoors to be open and airy yet calming at the same time. x
Hi Sue, Your outdoor ocean views and your calm indoor home environment look beautiful and inviting. I enjoy both outdoors and indoors and a bit of each every day. Thank you for your contribution to #weekendcoffeeshare.
Hi Natalie, yes I love calming colours and for indoors you can always add a pop of colour with accessories. Glad to be part of #weekendcoffeeshare when I can. xx
Hi Sue, I love your art work. I’ve just recently redecorated our living room because I was over the last one. I love the Hamptons style which we used as a reference point when we renovated our house. Regards, Christina
Hi Christina, we actually bought most of it at an art auction on a cruise. My husband went twice and we have more paintings that walls LOL 🙂 x
Hi Sue. I’m both an indoor and outdoor guy, but my wife is mostly indoor and rarely visits even our backyard. We are both aggressive readers, She in particular lives for her books. I love different weather patterns while she really hates any form of rain that touches her. We both like to camp, but our lives and work rarely afford the opportunity.
Hi Gary, I’m a bit of both and like your wife, my husband is more of an indoors person. I do love to read so would be interested in hearing what type of books your wife reads. She might be interested in our What’s On your Bookshelf Challenge? A group of us host this each month and share what we are reading. Thanks for your comment and visiting. Enjoy your week.
I love how your home is so clean and fresh and uncluttered Sue – I think that calm and serene surroundings definitely add to a calm and serene approach to life – and of course you have the ocean as a fantastic backdrop.
Hi Leanne, yes I love a neutral palette and we can always dress it up with colourful accessories. Mike is very minimalist and I’ve learned from him. We are pretty lucky with the ocean as the backdrop too.x
Your indoor decor is so pretty! But that outdoor view is breathtaking! 😍
Yes I’m very lucky to have the best of both worlds, Angela. Thanks for visiting and have a lovely day x
I normally like to decorate both indoor and outdoor when it come to fall and winter but this year I didn’t do any. When it comes to other seasons I normally just place a few things indoors. Love the peek into your world.
Hi Kirstin, I don’t usually decorate only at Christmas but I might try other seasons in 2022. x
