This week I’m honoured to be the first guest for my friend Leanne Le Cras at Cresting the Hill, in her brand new series ‘Social Saturday’. Each week Leanne will be having a guest writer and so when she asked me to contribute I immediately said ‘yes’. If you read my blog regularly, you will know that Leanne and I are BBB’s (Best Blogging Buddies). Leanne is my BBB (Best Blogging Buddy) and we have known each other since we both started blogging about 3 years ago. Over that time, we have shared many conversations on the ups and downs of blogging plus life in general. We are so alike that we both agree we must have been ‘sisters in another life’ because:
- we are enjoying Midlife
- our blogs are about our experiences in Midlife & Beyond
- we co-host the Midlife Share the Love Party
- we both love ABBA!
So what am I writing as a guest for Leanne?
Having the Prime of Your Life
Midlife & Beyond, that is where we are and it is a wonderful time of life!
I was delighted when she asked if I would kick off her new Saturday Guest Series which I think is a great idea. On my blog Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond, I have a weekly guest series, Over 50 & Thriving, which I started this year. What I love about the series is that I am learning from women who are going through the same stage of life as I am. They are wise, inspirational women and each has a different view on what Over 50 & Thriving means to them.
The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is that – Our generation rocks! We have embraced midlife and beyond and are making things happen. I believe there are so many wonderful role models not just for me, but for the next generation, that it encourages me to keep positive.
Some of you may know me and follow my blog so you would know my philosophy on aging and retirement. I recently had my first gig as an MC and Guest Speaker for a Mother’s Day High Tea. It was for a community organisation Co.As.It, which provides people with in-home care services to enable them to stay in their own homes rather than moving to aged care.
The subject of my talk was about having an Ageless Attitude to Life and I would love to share a few of these ideas with you today. It is all about STOPPING some of our negative habits and EMBRACING new ones.
It is all about Having the Prime of your life now – not waiting until some day but living each day with a positive and energetic attitude.
I would love you to pop over to Cresting the Hill and read my thoughts on how we can live with an Ageless Attitude and also enjoy the Prime of Our Lives! Just click on the link below:

Great to have you guesting for me Sue- I’ve had a lot of bloggers throw their hats into the ring to guest post – but you just had to be my first – a) because you’re my BBB b) because you are so supportive and c) because you write great posts xx
Thanks for having me Leanne and you are such a dear, generous friend. I’m so pleased we have met and yes one day IRL we can have a coffee! xx
Hi, Sue – Awesome Guest Post! I read and commented on Leanne’s site.
Your’ve set the bar high for the rest of the Saturday Guest Hosts (including me!) 🙂
Thanks Donna it was an honour to be the first to kick off the series. 🙂 Can’t wait to read yours and other guest posts. I learn so much from reading from Women like myself. Have a great weekend 🙂
I love the “I’m having the prime of my life”..makes me wonder if you’re going to have a series of song-themed posts! Heading over to Leanne’s site now….
Yes that song gave me the idea Pat! But a series of song-themed posts would be a great idea!
The perfect choice for Leanne’s first guest. And I love the saying “prime of your life”
Thank you Jo and yes I had a moment’s inspiration with ‘prime of your life’ it doesn’t happen very often LOL 🙂
Yes and Yes to your questions, Sue. I left a comment on Leanne’s site, too. Have a fabulous day!
Thanks Natalie and you have a fabulous day too! xx
Loving Leanne’s idea for Saturday guest posts. I hope to be one of them in the not too distant future when my life is a little less chaotic! I will pop over and read your post for sure! #TeamLovinLife
Yes it is a great idea Min and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed presenting my Over 50 & Thriving series because I have learned so much from all the women who have contributed.
Wise words, Leanne and YES to positive ageing!

Thanks SSG, this formed part of my speech recently about having an Ageless Attitude.
Love the BBB phrase – I might need to steal that one!
And I love the sense of community I get from blogging – especially the midlifers! I’ve struggled a lot with the direction of my blogging in the last year and this community as kept me grounded and hanging in there!
Be my guest Deb! I agree about community it does help you when you feel like walking away from blogging. I know I’ve felt like that over the last year and then the feedback and friendship just makes me want to stay. xx
