Mother's Day

This Sunday is Mother’s Day and I’ll be spending the morning running with my daughter in the Mother’s Day Classic in memory of my Mum who died from breast cancer 30 years ago.

I’ve written a few posts this week and in previous years around the Mother’s Day theme.  As part of my Friday Favourites, I wanted to revisit two of my favourite posts about this special day.  I do hope you enjoy them as much as I did re-reading them.

My Favourite Mother’s Day Posts

All I want for Mothers Day is

Another Mother’s Day and the age old question of ‘what do we buy for Mum?’ Retailers, are bombarding us with catalogues of gift ideas and children (& Dads) are trying to work out what to buy.  It is another stressful time filled with commercialism, another chore to be done, when it should just be about spending time with your Mum and showing your love for her.  CONTINUE READING

Mother's Day

As a Mum I enjoyed Mother’s Days when my children were little and they would excitedly run off to school to spend their $1 or $2 at the Mother’s Day stall. Taking what seemed like hours to select that special something just for me, the look of pride, love and anticipation on their faces on Mother’s Day when they gave me my gifts was priceless.

However, now that I am older the most precious gift to me is spending time with my family. Life is so busy, our children have careers and families of their own which bring added responsibilities to their lives.   CONTINUE READING

lovely posts Sue – I loved those little Mothers Day presents from the kids when they were small too. I even remember buying my mum gifts from the MD stalls when I was a child. So much simpler back then wasn’t it?

Great roundup. I really like your post about the “best mother’s day gift you can give.” So true!

Like you, pending time together would be my only request. My mum died of cancer about 35 years ago and I still miss her. I miss my little boy who died. So I find mother’s day bitter/sweet. Either way, I am very thankful for many blessings.

Oh Kathleen, Mother’s Day must be bitter-sweet for you but your positive outlook is inspiring. Have a great day!

Sue, I think your post on What to Get Mom is beautiful. AND, yes, now that my boys are older I cherish the time we get together to talk, sit, and even the quick “Hi, Mom, I’m stopping in for a quick bite” fly-by HUGS. My favorite.

It’s so true, that happiness and peace are all I want (and have ever wanted) for my children.

Happy Mom’s day to you and your daughter.
