It’s December and that means the Festive Season with parties and gatherings happening throughout the month. Mike and I have several social engagements with family and also friends so it was time to think about what we would be wearing.
The Festive Season in Australia is in Summer and where we live in Brisbane, Queensland, the days are hot and humid. I wanted something we could both wear that would look stylish and festive, yet be cool and comfortable. I think we’ve nailed it – what do you think?
A dress chosen in literally seconds! A shirt which is out of Mike’s comfort zone but looks great.
I had purchased a dress for the festive season but it didn’t really grab me. As we had our Probus Christmas Party last Friday, I decided late Thursday afternoon to make a dash to the shops and see if I could find an alternative dress.
It was meant to be!
Firstly, I scored a parking spot immediately which is a win leading up to Christmas. I walked into Myer, saw a red dress, in my size, tried it on, paid and left the shopping centre in less than 15 minutes. I added my bauble headband and some red sandals and I was ready to party.
My darling is pretty conservative with his clothes so I was very surprised and happy that he agreed to step out of his comfort zone and go with a Christmas themed shirt. You gotta love a man who steps out of his comfort zone for you. Anyway, I think he looks fabulous and he has already had a few favourable comments. Between you and me, I think he is secretly chuffed with the look! Who doesn’t love Surfing Santas – so Australian!

Poolside Party
For the afternoon Neighbour Christmas by the Pool Party, Mike swapped his long trousers for casual and cool shorts.
White was my colour of choice for the pool party. I wore white linen dress shorts with matching top. Perfect for a very hot afternoon. Splashes of red with my sandals and Festive headband added colour as well as my red lippy again.

What are you wearing for the Festive Season? I’d love you to share with me.

Fabulous and fun! 🙌🎄😍
Thanks, Carol. x
I usually wore black velvet which I really love, but now I only have my long duster left.
I won’t be going anywhere, though, so there’s no need to dress up.

Black velvet sounds very elegant, Cat. x
You are absolutely stunning in that red dress, Sue! I have to admit it still seems so strange to see you celebrating Christmas in linen shorts! I’m not sure what I’ll be wearing yet. It will definitely be warmer than shorts, though! I usually do wear a dress, but I have some really fun pants I may wear instead. I try to dress up more for Christmas than Thanksgiving. I do love Mike’s shirt…mine wouldn’t go for that. But, he does love a good shirt with palm trees or leaves on it!

Thank you, Marsha, I do love the dress which only took about 10 minutes to purchase. It reminds me exactly of my style and why I should stick to it. Mike was a sport as he doesn’t like wearing shirts like the Santa one but he did it for me. Palm trees can be festive too. x
Fantastic fashion
You both look great!! It’s very bright and fun. I have a Santa dress and a santa bag….
Thanks, Lydia. Will we see you in the Santa dress carrying your santa bag???? xx
Your hubby looks adorable! That shirt is fun! You both look ready to enjoy the festivities!

He does look good and thank you Mireille. It is a lovely time of year to celebrate. x
I had a holiday gathering with dear friends yesterday and I wore a black velvet top with my jeans below. Comfy and cozy on a very cold evening (5 degrees)!
Sounds very stylish, Laura as black velvet always means elegance to me. x
Oh I definitely think you’ve both nailed it! What fun and festive looks.
Thanks, Joanne. I like to wear something festive each year and this year I’m very happy with the result. x
Love the look. Happy Holidays dear Sue and best Good Wishes for a Blessed New Year.
