Don’t Wish it Would Happen – Make it Happen

Wish and Make it happen

Wish and Make it happenThe Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary defines ‘a wish’ as ‘Feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that cannot or probably will not happen’

We all have desires and dreams which we aspire to achieve.  What would life be if we didn’t have dreams?  However, wishing for something will not fulfil your desires and dreams – only YOU can.  No amount of wishing will achieve anything unless you work to achieve it and want it badly enough.

On my website, I have a quotation from Michael Jordan – Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.

This is so true in life.  We all have the same desires and dreams – the difference is that people are different.  Some just can’t make the commitment to MAKE IT HAPPEN!  They want, or wish or complain that they can’t have what they want in life, however if you want something badly enough you will work and try everything in your power to achieve it.

There is also the saying – ‘be careful what you wish for’

Sometimes we are wishing and looking for something which we think we really want, however if our wish does come true the result is not always the way we thought it would be.  We might wish to win the lottery only to find that if we do, money cannot bring happiness no matter how much you have.  We have all ready fairy tales of 3 three wishes where the outcome was not expected or welcomed.

Wishes can be positive – birthday wishes, Christmas wishes, good wishes for others.  Wishing on a star and dreams gives us hope and keep the magic in our lives.

I think the secret to wishing is to always have hopes and dreams but to also be grateful for what you have.  Some things we ‘wish’ for are definitely in our power.  Losing weight, or saving for a home or holiday.  These are all achievable if we put our mind to it and make it happen.  It all comes down to you – do you want it badly enough?  If you do – then MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I love this and will say that I couldn’t agree more that it is up to us to indeed make it happen, but being happy with what you do have is truly the first step 😉

Thanks Janine. I though it may sound a little harsh as we all love to wish for things. The sad reality is we have to commit and work for what we want. You are so right in saying that the first step is to be happy with what we have. Thanks for the opportunity to linkup and have a lovely day

I agree with you 1 million bajillion percent!! The same with complaining…stop complaining and make it happen! You are (mostly) in control of your own destiny! As soon as I realized that my life got so much better. Thanks for sharing on #FoodandFitnessFriday!

Not easy all the time I realise but we do have to take responsibility and get on with it. Exactly as you are doing and also achieving a great result through your hard work. Thanks for the comment. #FoodandFitnessFriday

I’m a realist and I truly believe that if what you wish for is achievable then you need to step out and have a go. Sometimes our wishes aren’t in our best interest and it’s okay to let them fade into the background and be grateful for what we have. Lovely post Sue.

Thanks Leanne – you can achieve anything you really want it is just a matter of how much you want it. Have a lovely day!

Hey Sue! Thank you so much for linking up! I always love your posts. Especially this one. I know a few “Eeyores” in life that just don’t get the whole make-it-happen mindset. They’d rather sit on the couch and wish. Scratch that, mope. I’ve learned that if I want something, I need to take steps to accomplish that. I’m not near perfect though, I still do wish for a few things. But like you said, that can still be healthy. Hope to see you again on the next linky 🙂

Thanks Jenn for the opportunity to link up and your lovely words. We still need wishes of course – wishes and dreams make life interesting and fun as long as we don’t put all our hopes into wishes and dreams and then get disappointed when they don’t happen. See you at the next link up.
