How to Indulge in Chocolate & Not Increase Your Waistline?

September 11, 2015

ChocolateI love chocolate!  Dark chocolate is my absolute favourite and I love to savour every piece.  Ironically, you might also know from reading my blogs that I usually promote ‘clean eating’, however, I do like the 80/20 rule when it comes to treats.  We all need a little treat occasionally otherwise life would be quite dull!

Chocolate makes me happy and I’ve written before about the Benefits of Chocolate but do you know you there is a new way to indulge in your favourite treat without adding any calories or inches to your waistline?

Chocolate – How to indulge in without increasing your waistline

Of course, I hear you all reading in disbelief that something as gorgeously (if that is a word) yummy as Chocolate could have this effect.  Well…..

I was reading BMag a local Brisbane magazine which had an article about just that!

It was the title that caught my attention ‘Chocolate Indulgence’.  I mean, to a chocoholic the word this type of indulgence would be irresistible.  I could almost taste the semi-sweet flavor melting in my mouth.  Mmmmmm.  I thought I would be reading about a new ‘chocolaterie’ like Max Brenner Chocolate Bar that might be opening, however the article was something completely different.

So what is this way of indulging without increasing your waistline?  The answer is………A BODY SCRUB!! This is no ordinary body scrub however, as the director of the spa suggests.  She explains in the article….

“The Deluxe Chocolate Scrub with Ancient Thai Pinda Balance is a combination of exfoliation, massage and skin nourishment relaxing the mind, body and soul ”

I must admit that although a little disappointed that I couldn’t eat the chocolate, it does sound decadent and a more delicious alternative to the mud bath!

Will I book in for one of these exotic pamper sessions?  I does sound tempting, although there is a little voice in my head asking me who I am trying to kid – I want to eat the chocolate not wear it!

Do you like the idea of a Deluxe Chocolate Body Scrub or are you like me and would rather eat the chocolate and then maybe go for a run?

Confession…I eat an ounce of dark chocolate 85% almost everyday in the afternoon. It takes the edge off my cravings, is good for me and satisfies my wanting a lot of chocolate. I eat it with my afternoon snack. I find when I do this, I don’t want anything else sugar related later in the day, say dessert time. I think it all depends on the type of chocolate and the will power to stop at a small piece. Dark chocolate is very good for you. Now that box of chocolates in your photo, dangerous to have in my house!!

Well I’m all for everything in moderation Michelle. I know the benefits of a little dark chocolate and life would be pretty dull if we could have treats occasionally. Thanks for your comment and I agree about the box of chocolates – would probably last 5 minutes in our house especially with my husband!

Since I increased my magnesium intake, my chocolate cravings have disappeared. I still adore chocolate, but I don’t “need” it as I used to.
In Belgium, it can be very dangerous. Chocolate is everywhere and it’s soooo delicious.
    Thanks for sharing it, Sue!

Yes it can be very addictive and especially living in the chocolate capital of the world Deb, it would be very hard. Thanks for your comment and have a lovely day.

That is very interesting Debbie. I can’t eat much chocolate because it does not like me. It seems that most of us are a bit short of magnesium, I take some most days.

I will sacrifice having the scrub for a little dark choc treat. I am just loving your new site Sue even with that naughty box at the top of this page.

Yes I know Kathleen it would be hard to give up the body scrub but give me a chocolate any day. That box of chocolates does look dangerous doesn’t it. I’m so pleased you like the new site. I value your opinion and worked on it over the weekend. Thanks for the linkup and also the positive comments. Have a great week.

I’ll be honest and say that a body scrub of chocolate is an incredible waste of chocolate! I’ll definitely be indulging by actually eating the chocolate. Thanks for posting this in the #AnythingGoes Link Party.

Me too Sandy! What a waste of chocolate and people actually pay money for it!
