“Happy Thursday!
It’s time for another Tell Us About…. , a link up hosted by some lovely ladies (including me) from all over the world. You can see who they are at the end of the post and I encourage you to visit their blogs and check out what they have written for this month’s prompt.
We would love you to join in so at the end of the post you can find the link and also the prompts for the coming months. It would be great for you to link up with us and participate in the Tell Us About Link Up. I’ve put some details below for when the link up opens and dates for the diary.
Each month one of the members selects a topic/prompt and this month it is Rosie Amber who has selected ‘Tell Us About….THURSDAYS
For my Tell Us About Prompts I am trying to align the prompt with my WOTY – Bloom so for this post, I’m writing about Celebrating Thursdays and how they can allow us to bloom!
Thursdays are like the gentle nudge of a new blossom opening—an invitation to pause, reflect, and continue blooming in life. Nestled between the energy of midweek and the promise of the weekend, Thursdays hold a quiet power, reminding us that growth doesn’t happen all at once. It unfolds, moment by moment, choice by choice. Embracing Thursdays means celebrating how far we’ve come and leaning into the beauty of who we’re becoming, one bloom at a time.
We are all familiar with the old rhyme ‘Thursday’s child has far to go’. It’s a reminder that we’re on a journey, making strides towards our goals—sometimes with a bit of extra effort, but always moving forward.
Whether you’re feeling motivated to crush the rest of the week or just surviving until Friday, Thursday always has something to offer.
The best part of Thursday?
To me it’s like waiting for Christmas. The excitement of Friday and the weekend is just around the corner, and there’s this sweet sense of anticipation in the air. You’re close to completing everything you set out to do for the week, but there’s still enough time to savour the small victories, wrap up tasks, and plan for the weekend.
The Worst part of Thursday
You know the feeling – you can feel like you’re almost there but not quite. You know the feeling ‘are we there yet?’. It’s that mix of exhaustion from the week catching up with you, the mental battle of staying focused, and just wanting to fast forward to Friday and the longed for weekend. That’s where the real growth happens. We push through and finish strong.
Special Thursdays
The second Thursday of the month, is VERY special because that is when we have our Tell Us About Link Up!
Special Thursdays to Celebrate
Thankful Thursday: Take a moment to reflect on what you’re grateful for. Whether it’s something big or small, being thankful can help shift your mindset for the rest of the week. –
Throwback Thursday: A fun day to revisit memories! Whether it’s a picture from the past or a story that brings you joy, take a moment to reflect on the good times and share the nostalgia. –
Thoughtful Thursday: Use today to show kindness—whether it’s a small act of service or sending a message of appreciation to someone. It’s a great way to brighten someone’s day. –
Thursday Motivation: The day to boost your energy and enthusiasm for the weekend! Find something that fires you up—be it music, a motivational quote, or a quick workout—and power through the rest of the week.
Maundy Thursday: A deeply significant day in the Christian liturgical calendar, Maundy Thursday marks the day of the Last Supper, where Jesus shared His final meal with His disciples before His crucifixion. It’s a day of reflection, humility, and service, symbolized by the washing of feet and acts of charity. If you’re reflecting on faith today, consider the meaning of this day and its messages of love and service.
Some Historical Thursdays
April 4, 1968 – Martin Luther King Jr.’s Assassination
July 20, 1969 – Apollo 11 Moon Landing
The Founding of the United Nations (October 24, 1945)
So, whether you’re tackling that to-do list or just riding the Thursday wave, take a moment to appreciate where you are. Thursday’s child has far to go, and you’re already doing great.
Keep going, the weekend is waiting!

Okay, I’ve misread something. Off to write a post.
At least you’ve done next month’s one too, Lydia! x
What a great take on the Thursday prompt Sue! I love all your ideas for writing about Thursdays and I too mentioned that nursery rhyme in my post!
Thanks Deb, I enjoyed your post too. It will be interesting to read what everyone has come up with. x
I love it – any and every reason to embrace the moment! How about those historical Thursdays – thank you for researching those!
Thank you Ju-Lyn, I’m glad you enjoyed my take on Thursdays. Enjoy the rest of your week. xx
I loved the special Thursdays. That hadn’t even occurred to me. I really enjoy reading all of these because everyone has such a different perspective!

Hi Marsha, I love that we have all taken a different slant at the prompt! I’m loving Tell Us About these days. Have a lovey weekend. x
Back again. I love you did the poem. I thought of that too. Fortunately I’d read yours so didn’t double up! Ha!
Hi Lydia, Deb also did the poem in more detail but I think it was the first thing that came to mind for most people. x
Spot on, I was just commenting on Suzy’s post how Thursdays can be quiet but so appreciated.
Hi Rosie, I enjoyed everyone’s thoughts on this prompt. Thanks for your idea! x
Certainly lots of things to think about here, Sue! You know, I’ve obviously heard of Maundy Thursdays but I had no idea what it was! Shows how religious I am lol!
Hugs
Suzy xx
I had heard of Maundy Thursdays too, Suzy but not sure what it meant either so you aren’t alone! Have a lovely weekend and hugs to you. Sue L x
I loved learning all of these things about Thursday from this linkup! ♡
It was a fun prompt, Donna and I enjoyed everyone’s thoughts on Thursday x

What a fun link up! I enjoyed reading all your thoughts on this specific day of the week. When I was teaching, I was always exhausted when Thursday evening rolled around but I knew I’d make it to the finish line and I was always amazed at all I’d accomplished throughout the week! Thursdays are indeed like waiting for Christmas… the perfect analogy!
Glad you enjoyed the link up, Laura. You should join in when you can x
Had to smile when I read your comparison of Thursday to Christmas Eve – I wrote that very same thing. I love Thursdays for all the reasons you mentioned and sometimes get frustrated by them as I feel like they represent running out of time in the week to wind things up. You mentioned that MLK, Jr. was killed on a Thursday. We were about to move to Memphis (from Boston) when he was murdered and my parents were concerned about doing so in the midst of the riots that transpired after the shooting. A good man gone too soon.
It does feel like Christmas eve though, doesn’t it Leslie? It must have been frightening times back then. So much violence and hatred which is so very sad. x
The worst part of Thursday for me is the realisation that it’s Thursday and I have still so much to finish before the weekend. The best part is that since next day is Friday, I get to stay up late and read. Great post!!
-Soma
Hi Soma, Fridays are now like that for me so Thursdays I can stay up and read late! Glad you enjoyed my take on Thursdays. x
Absolutely right about the best and worst parts of Thursdays! Almost to the weekend but not quite there. Thursday used to be a favorite weekday for me, because for quite a few years it was our homeschool co-op day, which I wrote about for my Tell Us About this month. Lovely to think of all the ways Thursday can be positive and celebrated.
Hi Kym, I’m late reading everyone’s posts but will get to yours. I’m enjoying everyone’s take on the prompt ‘Thursdays’. x
I remember that Thursday feeling from my school and working days. It no longer carries the same weight now that I am retired, but I liked your ideas for celebrating Thursday. Maybe I’ll choose one of those for this coming Thursday and put my focus on that theme for the day. If it lands with me, I could choose a different one each Thursday. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh I love your idea for Thursdays, Christie! You’ve inspired me! xx
