My View from Here

December 4, 2017
Brisbane and Gold Coast

This week’s prompt at Denyse Whelan Blogs is ‘My View from Here’ so I thought I would share where I live (part-time at the moment) on the Gold Coast, and also my home in Brisbane.  Both are in Queensland, Australia and about 1 hour’s drive apart.

I’ve written a post before about My Home by the Ocean which explains all about our vision for retirement on the Gold Coast. At the moment, because of my MIL we are living in Brisbane and visiting our ‘other home’ when we can.  I’m looking forward to Boxing Day when we will head down again for a couple of weeks.

My View from Here

From our balcony you can see the ocean.  Of course, not being on the oceanfront you can’t expect not to be built out but at the moment I can enjoy my morning coffee or evening drink with this view.  We also have a view to the hinterland which is lovely especially at sunset.

When we are at the Coast we love walking along the Esplanade and this is the gorgeous view of Surfers Paradise beach.  On a clear day you can see down to the end of the Gold Coast to Coolangatta.  57kms of beach make up the Gold Coast from Main Beach to Coolangatta.

I can sit an watch the ocean for hours and find it mesmorizing and relaxing.  I love hearing the waves rolling onto the shore.  Such a healthy and happy environment.

My View from my other home

The other view I want to share is from my other home in Brisbane.  This is the view of my weekly run with my Saturday Sisters through the beautiful river city of Brisbane.  I live in Kangaroo Point which is very close to the City of Brisbane.

I start my run here at Kangaroo Point Cliffs which has a gorgeous panoramic view of the Brisbane CBD.

We run through the Southbank Parklands which was redeveloped after the 1982 Commonwealth Games.  It is ironic that I also live in the Gold Coast which will hold the 2018 Commonwealth Games. I love Southbank, it is a great area for families to have picnics and swim in the man made beach. It is also has a great restaruant hub as well as being part of the Cultural Precinct.

Isn’t this bouganvillea gorgeous?

The river is a major attraction in Brisbane and if visiting you should take a City Cat ride.

I am very lucky to live in two beautiful places.  The River City of Brisbane and the vibrant Gold Coast.

What is the view like where you are?  I’d love you to share it with me.

Let’s Keep Sizzling!

I love it Lydia and we are very fortunate in Australia to have beautiful, clean beaches. Such a healthy lifestyle. Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful week. x

I’d love to be on the water right now! But maybe during summer, instead of shivering on the couch right now 😉

Oh yes it is getting warmer here that is for sure Katherine! Keep warm and thanks for stopping by x

Your views from both your homes are certainly lovely! We live about 10-15 mins from the beach, but it’s the closest I’ve ever lived to the water & it’s fabulous.

You know, I actually had no idea it was 57km along the entire stretch on the Gold Coast! Wow.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric December 5, 2017 at 09:46

I didn’t either Vanessa. I knew it stretched quite a way so I looked it up and there you go – learn something new every day! Have a great week!

I love seeing where you live Sue and the explanation too. Such gorgeous views and both different, it must feel heavenly to leave Brisbane behind and get to hear the ocean. Lovely personal post.

Give me a beach view any day!
I’ve only recently moved to the mid North Coast (Port Macquarie) after many years of living inland (Armidale & East Maitland). Wish I’d done it years ago as it’s so good for the heart & soul! Your Gold Coast views just spectacular 🙂

Water views are my favourite! Mum and Dad used to stay at Burleigh Heads each Winter for about 5 weeks and one year I had a few days with them. I loved the hinterland views as well as the water ones. It is a beautiful place this Qld. I am glad you are enjoying both of your spaces when you are there! Thank you for linking up for #LifeThisWeek 47/52. Next Week: Today I will. Final Week for 2017: Christmas Plans.

Yes I’m pretty lucky with the views Denyse and I love both places that I live. I love running through the city in Brisbane and walking along the Esplanade at the Coast. Always plenty going on. Thanks for the link up xx
