Best of Boomer Blogs for May

May 7, 2018

It is time again for me to host the Best of Boomer Blogs and this week our contributors cover a vairety of topics which always makes for interesting and entertaining reading.

Self-Awareness & Self- Development

Some change is desirable and delightful, while other change can be fearsome and intimidating. Either way, we can learn to ride the waves of change with equanimity, enjoying what we can and letting go of what doesn’t serve us. That’s what Carol Casssara is talking about at A Healing Spirit.  Learn How to surf the waves of change & maintain your balance.

Jennifer over at Unfold And Begin decided to do a throwback post.  This is the very first interview that she did for her Starting Over series.  Meet the lovely Margaretha Montagu who started out as an MD and now runs retreats on a beautiful farm with six horses. She writes about Finding a New Career in the South of France

Books to read about food around the world

On The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide,  Rita R. Robison, consumer journalism, writes about 20 books to read about food this spring. Recommended by the Food Tank, a think tank for food, the books are from Italy, Puerto Rico, Australia, and many other countries.

Protecting yourself from inflation in retirement

A first-of-the-summer trip to the local ice-cream stand prompted this post from Tom Sightings: Do Retirees Have to Worry About Inflation? Step up and take your licks, and see if you agree with him.

Out and About in LA

Rebecca Olkowski with went to visit the Los Angeles Equestrian Center to see the Fiesta of the Spanish Horse. She spent part of the afternoon watching the beautiful Andalusian horses practice and compete, and then went back in the evening to see the show.  She even made a short video so you can enjoy it too.

Jury Duty

Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting began an adventure in civic responsibility this week. She will spend one day a week for the next two months in a courtroom. Read about the start of her experience in ‘Doing My Civic Duty’

Laura Lee has been considering a few life problems that can ruin everything. She was surprised to see the results from a study of loneliness in the USA, but quite happy to learn that scientists are doing something to help those who suffer from a C.difficile intestinal infections like she had recently.

It is Mental Health Week in the USA but anytime is a good time to put the spotlight on Mental Health.  This month Sue Loncaric from Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond is taking part in the Mindful in May challenge for improved mental health and also helping others in need at the same time.

I would encourage you to take five minutes to relax and enjoy some inspirational and informative reading.  We would all appreciate your comments and shares.

Let’s Keep Sizzling!
