Be-ing in February – My 2022 WOTY Update
It is the last month of Summer where I live and soon the Frangipani’s will no longer be blooming. Walking my grandson to school provides some beautiful floral displays and an opportunity to stop and smell the frangipanis which always remind me of relaxation and holidays.
I think I aced my WOTY – ‘BE’ during February which was full of self-love, love for others, staying healthy inside and out and taking time to just ‘BE’. I’m loving this monthly link up post because it is definitely keeping me accountable and more aware of living my WOTY. Okay, it’s only February but I’ve achieved two months so why not believe in myself that I will continue to focus living my WOTY for the whole of 2022?
BE-ing HEALTHY
I stayed physically and mentally healthy through my usual Saturday runs with my Saturday Sister, taking sessions in the Strong Healthy Women Virtual Studio and working out with friends and walking with Mr M.
All of this activity has a two-pronged affect on my health and well-being.
I’m physically active consistently (that’s a key word) which keeps me fit and strong to keep up with living life my way and also my grandsons!
I’m also looking after my mental health because:
- when I exercise I’m in my happy place
- movement produces ‘feel good’ hormones and
- I’m maintaining social connection by running and working out with friends plus using my brain to train others to stay fit and strong.
My Saturday Sister and I also kicked off our running year with the Sri Chinmoy Twilight Run in Brisbane
Mr M and I maintained our date days and explored Mt Tamborine which is just under and hour’s drive from our home on the Gold Coast. It is a beautiful area and on our first trip we visited the SkyWalk and then had lunch. I wrote about this in my post Lunchtime in the Rainforest at Mount Tamborine. There is so much to see in the area that we visited again and this time went to the beautiful Curtis Falls followed by lunch in one of the many cafes on Gallery Walk.
Discovering our backyard is a great way to explore and spend time in nature which is always wonderful for our health – physically (with bushwalks) and mentally (being in the serenity and calm natural environment).

Mr M and I have also been busy in the kitchen trying healthier recipes especially as he recently had diverticulitis. An inflammation or infection of the pouches formed in the colon (diverticula) and something that can be quite painful.

BE-ing LOVING
February is the month of Love. Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day (with your galpals?) Mr M and I don’t usually make a fuss and we believe love is a daily celebration. However, after a very stressful 2021 I wanted to show him some love and my appreciation by making a special dinner.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the kitchen and being mindful of why I love and appreciate the love of this gorgeous man.
On the Menu
- Individual Camembert & Asparagus Tarts (I made the pastry from scratch which I was pretty proud of)
- Air fryer Salmon with Steamed Bok Choy in a Garlic, Chilli and Ginger sauce
- Mini chocolate mousse hearts with Raspberries & Vanilla Yogurt – these looked great and I used my creativity to make the heart shapes from aluminium foil as I didn’t have any heart shaped tins.
I’ll be sharing these recipes in a future post.

Loving is also about showing yourself some love so I continued the Love theme on the Podcast in the episodes:
- It’s Valentine’s Day and it’s time you start falling in love with yourself to live life your way. In this episode I discuss: Self love and why we need to be our own cheerleader
- 10 self-care ideas that don’t include a pampering session
- Trust your instincts, find your power, Tell Your Story – my guest in this episode is Annette Simmonds author of Drinking from a Different Well – How Women’s Stories change what power means.
BE-ing a #GoldenBoldie
In February, I became a #goldenboldie! I’ve taken on a paid ambassadorship for BOLD Health using and promoting their BOLD Health Plus Protein Powder which is specifically designed for 55+ to help provide the adequate protein we need to keep bodies strong. Mr M has also started using the product and we are creating new smoothie ideas and recipes which is fun and healthy.

You can read the story of how BOLD started HERE and if you are interested in purchasing the product you can use my discount code: LIVINGWELL20 at the BOLD shop checkout.
A thought to live by – BE ………
I found a top in the back of my drawer which reminded me of all the things I wanted to be. So reminder for us all is to celebrate who we are as individuals and to:

BE STRONG BE FEARLESS BE BEAUTIFUL
and most of all BE YOU!

I loved this bright and beautiful post Sue, you certainly are living your WOTY in so many different ways! Well done on the paid ambassador gig too, you’re a perfect example of a #goldenboldie!
Thanks Deb, I’m loving the post because it makes me reflect on how I was living my WOTY each month and again I achieved my goal in February. Now on to March xx
Hi, Sue – I agree that this monthly linkup is awesome at keeping all who join in accountable and more aware of living our WOTYs. Without it, I fear that my good intentions may lose their steam….. 😀
I’m so sorry to hear about M’s inflamation. I hope that he is healing well and that he is feeling better.
Congratulations on your ambassadorship. They chose an awesome role model for us all!
Hi Donna, it’s a great way to share our WOTY isn’t it? Like you if I didn’t have the link up I may not keep up with regular reflection on my WOTY. Enjoy your weekend, have a great March – Spring is on the way for you. xx
Hi Sue. Be is shaping up to be the perfect WOTY for you for 2022. We dont do Valentine’s Day either, but that dinner you cooked looks amazing
Hi Sue – look at your guns in that last picture!!! You’re such a great example of healthy living and being super fit – I’m not surprised that the Bold people are using you as an ambassador. Nice to see you and Mike enjoying each other’s company and having so much fun with your romantic meals and dates – keeping the love alive! x
What an uplifting and encouraging post Sue! You certainly are living out your BE! I love seeing your photos of your dates with Mr M. You have challenged me to really dig deep to see if and how I am living out my WOTY, which is RECLAIM. More specifically reclaiming myself as I got lost with caring for hubby who has mild dementia and many other health related issues. While nothing has changed with the situation I think I am slowly making some changes. I am aware of not neglecting myself and my needs and things I enjoy and after blood tests revealed a couple of issues I am taking steps to change that. As well as my craft, I have recently discovered I enjoy doing mindfulness colouring in. I have much more work to do with reclaiming but baby steps for me. Christine x
You are the perfect ambassador for Bold. Lovely seeing the balance this month too! Here’s to March be-ing fabulous too…
That top is perfect! What a great look at your month Be-ing you. That waterfall looks amazing; we tend to spend lots of time hiking around in nature too as I find it very relaxing as well.
What a great February recap, Sue. Congrats on your ambassadorship. It’s nice to see you and Mr M are enjoying exploring local sights and healthy living. Love that t-shirt on you. Have a wonderful March being you.
YOU are nailing this “BE-ing” business and it is so good to see how refreshed and happy you and Mr M are. I hope he continues to make good progress with his medical condition. I know it can be painful. You are both great examples of love and care…for and of each other. Thank you for the link up. Denyse
Hi Sue, it’s always inspiring to read about your outings, activities and self-care. Sorry to hear about Mr M’s diverticulitis. My husband has thought of getting an air fryer, how do you like it and what benefits do you think it has compared to, for example, using the oven?
Have a great week!
Sue, you are Da woman! Your pic of your showing your strong arms is just so motivating and beautiful! I couldn’t pose like that now after 2 years of covid flab, but it is motivating to me to see just how women in their 60s can look. Sorry that your hubby is struggling with diverticulitis. Your recipes look fresh and inviting, thanks for sharing! WE have also been exploring air frying with our multicooker. My hubby occasionally struggles with stomach issues and thank goodness we invested in an adjustable bed. He sleeps every night slightly raised up (which also reduces his snoring, LOL). Spring is just around the corner her in Northeaster Washington and I can’t wait until I can explore some neighborhood hiking trails. “Be-ing” out in nature is my go-to place for my “walks.” Have a wonderful week!
Hello Sue! You did indeed ace your WOTY in February. Nice work. Larry and I do not make a fuss on Valentine’s Day either. We did, however, exchange cards, which turned out to have similar sentiments. I guess we both feel the same about our relationship! Then we also fixed a special dinner at home. Thank you for hosting the WOTY link party.
You are nailing your WOTY! Nice job on the homemade foil hearts! I have zero talent for making food look pretty, but I admire people who can.

I had to look up what that flower was…we call it a plumeria, but I don’t think we have them here in the PNW..maybe we do, I’ve just seen one when we were in California. It’s always fun to try new recipes though sometimes I do get frustrated. We’ve been on a journey to healthier eating for years and it’s amazing how much has changed since when we first got married, but new things come up so I try different foods and recipes. Those muffins look good.
Hi Kirstin, it is easy to get into a rut with eating, I know we do. Lately we’ve tried to experiment with some new recipes which has lifted us out of our rut. x
Love all the positive energy here. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Ann I’m pleased your found some positive energy. Have a lovely weekend. xx
