Air Fryer Salmon with Steamed Bok Choy in Chilli, Ginger & Garlic Sauce

February 23, 2022

This recipe literally takes 20 minutes to prepare and make. It is quick, easy, healthy and tastes – so what’s not to like?

Mr M purchased an air fryer last year and I have to admit we don’t use it often enough. We do cook our salmon this way and it always tastes delicious and perfectly cooked in 18 minutes.

Why is it healthy?

All of the ingredients are staples in the diet of people living in Blue Zones, which are areas where people live longer and with lower rates of disease.

Salmon – rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids which have been shown to reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, and decrease risk factors for disease.

Bok Choy – full of cancer-fighting compounds such as vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, folate, and selenium.

Chilli – improves digestive health and metabolism

Garlic – boosts immunity, anti-inflammatory, improves cardio-vascular health

Ginger – medicinal properties, may help with osteroarthritis, settles the stomach (nausea), improves heart disease risk

Olive Oil – rich in healthy monosaturated fats with strong anti-inflammatory properties

Air Fryer Salmon with Steamed Bok Choy in Chilli, Ginger & Garlic Sauce

Serves 2

Ingredients

2 x Salmon steaks with skin on – we actually prefer the tail

1 x Bunch Bok Choy or any similar asian greens

1/2 teaspoon each – minced chilli, ginger & garlic – or to taste. I think I could have used a little more ginger as the flavour was subtle

Method

Preheat AirFryer at 190C

Rub Salmon steaks with a little olive oil and season

Add to Air Fryer, skin up and cook for 18 minutes

Prepare bok choy – cut into pieces

Mix Spices in olive oil to combine about 1/4 cup

At 5 minutes before Salmon ready

Steam Bok Choy

Heat frying pan and then add spices in oil and cook for two minutes

Just before serving add steamed bok choy and cover with sauce

Let me know if you try it!

Hi, Sue – I have another friend who just purchased an AirFryer and absolutely loves it. I definitely need to look into this further. Your salmon recipe sounds amazing!!

Sue, Thanks for sharing another way to cook Salmon. it is one of Malcolm’s favorite dishes. I don’t have an air fryer and will just steam it on the stovetop, but I’m sure it will taste similar.
