I am often inspired by other women who share their stories and I’ve met many inspiring women through the Over 50 and Thriving Guest series. Each time I listen to someone tell their story, it confirms my belief that we all have our own special story to tell.
Ageless Confidence – An Inspiring Event
Recently, I attended the Ageless Confidence Event which was hosted by Peta Gillian CEO of Strong Healthy Women.
A panel of four women ranging in age from early 50s to 70s answered questions from Peta about life and what motivates them to keep healthy and active. It is was such an inspiring and motivating session and I was so pleased I had attended. The women all shared stories of their lives and I was constantly reminded that we all go through difficult periods but it is our ATTITUDE that helps us to cope. I’m hoping to share some of their stories with you in the coming months.
Their message was clear:
Life can bring challenges – we all know that – but staying healthy and active helps us to cope physically and mentally with whatever life throws at us.
During the session, Peta discussed the
5 pillars of Ageing Well – Move – Eat – Live – Connect – Rest
Peta will be writing a guest post on the 5 Pillars of Ageing Well which will be published later in the month of Ageing Well in August.
I was also delighted to finally meet Lesley who is also a fellow online member of Strong Healthy Women, My Active Life program . We workout virtually through the Strong Healthy Women online program and have struck up a friendship online.
Sometimes working out alone especially with an online program can bring challenges such as keeping motivated to actually do the workout and having a sense of comunity. With the SHW program we also have a Facebook Group so keep each other motivated and supported. Lesley and I have also been known to throw the odd challenge out to each other, such as how many ‘dead bugs’ we can do.
Meeting in person was a highlight of the day for me. Lesley was one of the panelists and I learned so much more about this resilient lady. She also loves to kayak so I’m going to try and go out with her one day to try something new.

“Mindfully Move – Eat – Live – Connect – Rest” are very wise words to live by.
Thank you for sharing this Petra and Sue.
Peta will be writing a more indepth post about her 5 Pillars which will publish last week of August. I think you will enjoy that Donna. xx
Hi Sue – how lovely that you got to connect in person with these women who are inspiring others with a similar message to your own. It must have been such an energizing time for you to be with them all – and you certainly shone your light there – looking fabulous as always.
Yes it was lovely meeting Lesley as we have been talking almost daily for about 6 months. Not long conversations, just through the FB group thread but she is a very inspiring lady. Lost her husband suddenly a few years ago and she is in her 50s. You don’t realise what other people go through. The whole morning was very enjoyable. I found the panelists very interesting and they were just ordinary women but getting on with life and not letting age dictate what they do. x
Hi Sue, I think it is so awesome that you were able to meet up with the women who lead this group as well as one of your fellow members. Kayaking together sounds like great fun. And, I love the 5 Pillars of Aging Well…they are so true. xo
Hi Candi, yes it was lovely to meet up in person and Peta will be a guest in the next week or so writing about the 5 Pillars of Ageing Well in more detail. xx
