Do you have a focus for 2020? A Word that will define your year?
In past years I have chosen a word of the year (WOTY), however for 2020 I have decided not to select a specific word but rather focus on a theme.
If you read my blog regularly or follow me on social media, you would know that living a healthy lifestyle is something I’m very passionate about. I’m currently studying for my Certificate III in Fitness and continue to study in areas of health and wellness including nutrition, life coaching and fitness.
Why? Because I plan on being around for a while and want to be fit and active to enjoy life as well as keeping up with my grandchildren.
So back to my theme.
I was sitting on the bus travelling through the gorgeous Canadian Rockies last September and that is when my theme started to take shape and ideas began to flow. Unfortunately, when I returned home, life became far too hectic to even think about the next day, let alone the next year or decade. My theme was put on the back burner as was the blog for a short time.
Well it’s a New Year and a New Decade and after some relaxing time off during the holiday season I’m back and ready to move forward with my theme for 2020 which is Ageing Well, Living Well with Sue.
Ageing Well Living Well in 2020

Why?
- I’m passionate about health and well being,
- I want to help others to live their best life by providing information and tools to age well and live well on the blog and also through my Social Media.
- I want to learn from others and share their thoughts about what Ageing Well and Living Well means to them. I will be introducing regular guests to share their tips and thoughts.
- Ageing Well and Living Well can apply to any age. It is never too early or too late to find ways to live a healthier lifestyle that is meaningful and fulfilling.
I like to think that these two terms, Ageing Well and Living Well are like a circle. I believe that if you have one then you will have the other. For example,
if you are living well with a healthy lifestyle, nourishing your body, mind and soul with good food, positivie thoughts and daily pracitices to feed the soul, then chances are you will Age Well.
If you are Ageing Well you will Live Well, because you are able to live the life you want and squeeze the most out of life.
Join me in Ageing Well, Living Well with Sue in 2020.
Share your top tip for Ageing Well and Living Well?
If you would like to be a guest and share your thoughts and ideas on how you are Ageing Well and Living Well then I would love to hear from you. Let me share your story and also inspire others to reshape their lives to Age Well and Live Well. If you would like to participate then please send an email to sue@womenlivingwellafter50.com.au for more details.

Sue,
I am joining you on selecting a theme for the year, mine is going to be Positivity!! I had such a bad year in 2019 and was filled with so many negative thoughts that i want to get out of that mode and look on the bright side…. And I am also not selecting One Word for the Year but I did decide to do one Word for the Month instead…. I can change or keep my Word for the following month!! I will soon be doing a post about all of this!! Thanks for inspiring me to pick a Theme!!
Hugs,
Deb
Hi Deb I’m happy that I have inspired you to pick and theme and Positivity is one we all need. Here in Australia, the country is burning with bushfires ravaging many areas of our continent. It is difficult to be Positive in this situation but then that is when we need it most. I also like your idea of a Word for the month – great thinking! I look forward to reading about your word and theme and just a reminder that Midlife Share the Love Party link up starts again this coming Wednesday. x
Hello Debbie! I just had to tell you how much I love the Word of the Month idea and tying them into an overarching theme of positivity. I’m heading over now to check out your blog. Here’s to a positive 2020!
~Christie
I am going with a word of the year again this year but it will be an over arching theme for everyday, every situation…BELIEVE. Too often I look for and expect the worst. And only because so often that is what LIFE has dealt. But when all is said and done, and the storm has passed, I am still standing! And I need to remember that. And believe that whatever comes, in the end it will all be okay.
Looking forward to your ageing well series as you are certainly making the most of every minute of life. Happy New Year!
That’s a great word, Leslie and something I need to bring into my life as well on a daily basis. If we believe it will be okay then we won’t be as stressed or anxious about life. Looking forward to reading more throughout 2020 in ways you are using your word. I hope you will be one of my guests for the AWLW theme. Have a great week! xx
Very nice post. I guess my word is enjoyment. I just want to enjoy life and all those around me. #MLSTL
Enjoying life is the ultimate, isn’t it Patrick! Have a great weekend.
Loving your direction and wishing you the happiest and healthiest of years. xxx
Thanks Jo, 2019 was a bit up and down for me so hopefully my focus on Ageing Well and Living Well will keep me on track. Best wishes to you for 2020! x
I love your theme Sue. Looking forward to checking back in for more. Happy New Year #MLSTL Sharing
Thanks Jen for sharing and Happy New Year to you! xx
I decided to adopt the possibly too-obvious “2020 Vision” as my theme for at least the coming year. I have the clarity to be all that I can, I will now create the time and focus to make it happen. A new decade dawning along with the new year is impossible for me to resist!
I think you’ll have some company on your Aging Well, Living Well journey, Sue!!
Happy to have you along for company, Agnes, anytime. Have a wonderful 2020. xx
Congratulations on your theme and its purpose for you and that of helping others achieve the same.
I look forward to reading more as the year progresses.
Thank you and Leanne for continuing the link up in 2020 too.
Denyse #mlstl
Thanks Denyse. I’m looking forward to sharing another blogging year with you. See you at your link up on Monday x
What a fabulous theme for the year Sue. I’ve also not chosen one particular word but instead focusing on living well, mindfully and in alignment with what feels good. So yes, I’ll be joining you. For me it’s about clarity. It is indeed a circle, live well and age well. Hope 2020 is the beginning of an amazing decade Sue. Hugs and warmest wishes xx
I wish you all the best as well Miriam for the new year and the new decade. I agree finding clarity is a key in knowing where we are going and what we need to focus on. I’m so pleased you like the theme and look forward to sharing with you in 2020. x
Hi Sue, it sounds like you’ve got your “focus” glasses on and are ready to rock the new year! I love the idea that living well and aging well are like a circle and if you possess one you live the other. Makes sense and I think is very true. It sounds like you’re going to have a great year! xo
I hope so Candi, because last year wasn’t what I call a year that I felt on top of things. Wishing you a wonderful and successful 2020 and look forward to reading more about your courses and business. xx
I love this 2020 theme, Sue!
I’m not sure I have a top tip (and I definitely need to focus on physical health if I hope to age well live well) … but I think what I’m learning in this second half of life is to accept myself. Stop trying to be someone I’m not … stop trying to apologize for my differences … and simply accept me for who I am. Not surprisingly, Acceptance is my WOTY 🙂
Thanks, Molly and lovely to have you at #MLSTL again. Acceptance is so important but certainly takes time so I look forward to reading how you implement your WOTY into your life for 2020. xx
Hi Sue – I love your theme – it’s actually on a very similar scope to what I’m doing with my WOTY that I’m sharing tomorrow. I think we are definitely sisters from a different mother. I’m looking forward to being a guest and I’m excited that you’re going to return the favour for me. Bring on 2020!
Thanks for another great year ahead of co-hosting #MLSTL and I’ve shared this on my SM 🙂
Thanks BBB and yes we do tend to think along the same lines, don’t we? I’m sure we were sisters from a different mother LOL:) Looking forward to more of #MLSTL and reading all about your Symphony of Midlife. xx
Hi Sue, I love your theme and think you’re a great role model for all of us – so it’s just perfect! I’m jumping into 2020 with you 🙂 #mlstl
Thanks Deb, I appreciate your kind words and support and look forward to Jumping into 2020 with you too! xx
Hi Sue – Your theme is excellent and relevant to all of us. I look forward to reading more. Thank you for continuing the MLSTL link-up. Happy New Year ! #MLSTL
Hi Natalie, I’m looking forward to joining you for Wellness Weekends this year! Happy New Year to you. xx
Love the theme and how it applies to me. All I want to do this year is be the best I can be….whatever that is. #MLSTL
That is a great goal, Bree and I look forward to reading about your year. x
Ageing well and living well sounds good to me! That’s something I think I can really join in with. Glad to hear you’ve got your fire back.
Great to have you join me, Christine and yes hopefully my mojo has returned. xx
What a great theme. I had a health setback in 2019 which makes me really want to live healthier and age well. I’m sure I will profit from the wisdom you share, Sue. Have a wonderful 2020.
Hi Corinne, I hope that 2020 is a healthier year for you. Sometimes we need a wakeup call and hopefully you will be healthier and happier in 2020. xx
I love the circle of Ageing Well and Living Well, Sue. That is exactly what I am hoping to accomplish, so I will be following you closely in 2020. I guess if I had to pick one tip for ageing well and living well it would be to be present in the moment–listen to your body, to that quiet intuition in your gut, and be aware of the beauties that surround you in the here and now. If you want a more practical, easy-to-implement tip, it would be move more. I’m looking forward to 2020 with you and #MLSTL. Thanks Sue!
Hi Christie, some great tips here thank you which I will share with my readers. I’ve learned to listen to my body rather than trying to push through because I feel I should. Sometimes I don’t listen to my gut and get myself into all sorts of trouble. Have a wonderful 2020 and I look forward to sharing it with you. xx
