June is here and it is winter in Australia, although living in Queensland we have clear blue skies and sunny days.
I started the challenge of writing a sentence a day back in April and also continued in May. If you missed my posts for April and May you can read them here A sentence a day
On the first week of each month, we link our posts up and can read what everyone has been up to.
June was my Health & Wellness month for me, taking stock of how I’m feeling mentally, physically and spiritually. It was lovely to read back through the month to see what I had been up to.
Writing a sentence a month is short and sweet but can be a pertinent reminder of all the good things and perhaps not so good things that happen in life.
A sentence a day for June 2017
June 1 – It is health and wellness month at Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond so I celebrated by buying new shoes and a gym session with hubby.
June 2 – A gorgeous autumn day so we decided to run away to our other home on the Gold Coast and had a delicious lunch.
June 3 – Spent the morning helping on the Devonshire Tea stall at my MIL’s aged care facility fete then in the afternoon caught up with my lovely daughter and grandson.
June 4 – Ran in the City2South 14km fun run with my Saturday Sisters followed by a celebratory breakfast with them.
June 5 – It is Health & Wellness Month over on my Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond blog so started the week making some healthy vegetable soup.
June 6 – Not much happened today apart from getting some posts done for my Sizzling Towards 60 & Beyond website.
June 7- Best day of the week for me as I see my darling grandson, Ethan. Today we built towns and also we were pirates on a sinking ship!
June 8 – Hubby and I caught up and had a delicious pizza lunch with friends who we haven’t seen for a number of months.
June 9 – Busy day started with a gym session with hubby, visited my MIL at her aged cared facility and it was ‘Italian Day’ so she wore her ‘Napoli’ scarf. In the afternoon I visited a neighbour who gave me these beautiful bougainvillea from her garden.
June 10 – Yay, ran 17km with one of my Saturday Sisters, in preparation for my half marathon in a month, a quick visit with my daughter and then we were off to the Coast for the weekend – rainy but who cares.
June 11 – Overcast on the Coast but it is great to get away and relax, made some delicious slow cooked beef cheeks for dinner.
June 12 – Another rainy day so went window shopping for some bedroom furniture for our apartment.
June 13 – Returned home from the Coast and had a Medical day today as I had to have a scan
June 14 – Rain, rain go away! Despite the rain, my grandson Ethan and I still had fun indoors by pulling out the tent and playing hide and seek and enjoy a yummy cupcake.
June 15 – Started the day with a one hour yoga session which had me feeling wonderful then met with a client in the city and caught the ferry home such a relaxing way to travel.
June 16 – A 30 minute cardio workout, a trip to the hair salon which I always love and a visit to my MIL and checked out a venue for my 60th birthday party.
June 17 – Ran 18km and so proud of my Saturday Sisters, our training for the Gold Coast half marathon is going well. I’m cheating here with two sentences our PT visited and brought the most beautiful brunch for my husband and I and prepared it all for us we were spoilt!
June 18 – Enjoyed the day on the Coast and the weather was glorious.
June 19 – Kindy drop off for my darling grandson, visit to my MIL and it was shopping day at the aged cared facililty and didn’t she have fun spending her money on a watch, necklace and handbag.
June 20 – Kindy drop off, a client meeting, quick visit with MIL and then an afternoon run with my Saturday Sisters.
June 21 – Special day today as it is the day I mind my grandson plus my MIL is 91 today – Ethan and I visited and sangHappy Birthday Nonna! This is my husband with his Mum!
June 22 – Today I took my MIL’s best friend to visit her as they hadn’t seen each other for quite a while.
June 23 – My days are so busy another kindy drop off, 40 minute workout and visit to my MIL as the ‘choir’ were performing for World Music Day and I had promised some of the residents I would go and listen to them. A quick sit in the sunshine and working on the blog and admiring nature.
June 24 – Last long run of 15km with the Saturday Sisters before our Half Marathon next week and a beautiful sunrise started our day.
June 25 – We are at the Coast and hubby is trying to put together some furniture we have purchased. Where is that allen key? LOL:) Gorgeous weather certainly makes up for the frustration.
June 26 – Bittersweet day as we remember my FIL who passed away 12 months ago. We are still at the Coast and still putting furniture together – there must be an easier way. Left hubby and went shopping for home accessories and managed a 30 minute yoga session.
June 27 – Back home from the Coast and enjoyed a late afternoon 9km run with the Saturday Sisters, our last before the Half Marathon next Sunday.
June 28 – What a great day I had with my main little man. Visited the Thomas the Tank Engine and Railway Museum, rode a mini train, bought a train, saw a show and topped the afternoon off relaxing at home watching ‘Land Before Time’ – a perfect day in my book!
June 29 – What a busy day – housework, visited my MIL, lunch with dear friends and then a PT boxing session – phew just tired writing about this.
June 30 – It is the last day of the financial year in Australia so that means tax time, collecting receipts and tax returns – where is the year going!!!
So that was my month in a sentence a day. I hope you enjoyed reading what I got up to this month. What has July in store for me?
Why not try this challenge for July? It is surprising what you might write over the course of the month and it is fun reading. You can then link up and read other posts from those taking the challenge.

Hi Sue: I enjoyed reading your month of June. Your running is impressive. We have a few things in common like regular exercises, and family time. Have a fit and fabulous July!
Hi Natalie! Thanks for stopping by and yes it is the half Marathon in July! have a great weekend. x
Wow! Your sentence a day was very effective at describing your month and sharing what is important to you. You are an awesome writer!
Thanks Donna I’m glad you enjoyed seeing what I get up to in Australia! Thank you for the lovely comment about my writing I’m always so self-critical and never think I’m good enough. Have a beautiful weekend. x
Wow, I’m tired just reading your post Sue! I’ve joined in this month too and added my post to your linkup. I couldn’t get the linkup to display on my post, I’ve obviously done something wrong! Great to be involved with this challenge 🙂
It is a great challenge Debbie and so lovely for you to join in. I hope you fixed up the link up problems okay. Have a great weekend! x
Wow Sue! You have my admiration for your ability to run 17kms and more. There is no way I could do that. In fact I am hopeless at running. I walk briskly instead. I got teary over the fact you took your MIL’s best friend to visit her. How nice of you and it would have been wonderful for them to see each other. Love that bouganvillea – so pretty! Lucky you having a getaway on the Gold Coast. Did you get that furniture put together in the end? Lovely days you’ve had in June and hopefully more of the same for you in July! 🙂 #TeamLovinLife
I didn’t start running until I was 50 Min and I’m don’t really look like a gazelle when I run that is for sure. However, it is what I enjoy and feel it is right for me. A brisk walk is just as effective. Furniture is still a WIP and should be finished this weekend I hope. Yes, Luisa really enjoyed seeing her friend again it was lovely for them both. Hope you are on the mend and feeling better! Enjoy your weekend xx
You are a wonderful DIL to your MIL. She is very lucky to have you. You’ve spent a good deal of June running and I admire your tenacity. I really do wish I could up my fitness. I seem to have plateaued with just walking and pilates. I do like the idea of a sentence a day. Mine could involve a few expletives though! Is this allowed? #TeamLovinLife
Thank you Kathy for your lovely words. I do what I can for her to make her feel happy and settled. I think I’m a bit fixated on health and exercise but having lost both parents and a brother in their mid sixties I sometimes dwell on that. Exercise helps me focus on being positive and healthy. Have a great week and please join in the sentence a day you could just put @#%$XXX and we would get what you mean LOL:)
What a fabulous, busy month you’ve had Sue – never a dull moment! Writing a sentence a day is a wonderful idea 🙂 #TeamLovinLife
Yes never a dull moment Lyndall but I love it that way! No time to be bored. You should join us in writing a sentence a day and then link up. Enjoy your weekend x
You are so committed to remember to do a sentence each day – and I love seeing all your photos together in one place – I guess that’s one of the bonuses of IG – you take more pics and get to use them in different places. Lovely to see what a busy and interesting month you had Sue.
I’m really enjoying it Leanne and my secret is to take a photo each day so it reminds me what I’ve done. I love looking back because sometimes I forget what actually happened. Have a great weekend and you should join up. x
Sue, your post reads eerily familiar to mine (except the grammy part–not there yet)…working out, visiting friends and family, enjoying retired life…what’s not to love? I hope you are enjoying your winter and you are keeping busy (like that’s a problem!). It does make one stop and think already into the year by 6 months!
Exactly Terri but you get out of it what you put in don’t you? I’m off to catch up on everyone’s post for June to see what they got up to! Have a great weekend x
It’s so fun to look back at a month and reading my own sentences as well as everyone else’s…
Sounds like you had a good June. I love all your focus on health! That’s my “unofficial” focus in July as well…
I had a lovely June thanks Andrea and yes I love looking back at the month. It is a great way to keep a diary. Good luck with your ‘unofficial focus’ for July! xx
I just love the sentence a day, thanks for continuing to link up! Just reading your month makes me tired, can’t wait to read your sentence about your half Marathon next month!
Oh I love it too Sarah. It is a great way to keep a diary that is for sure. I haven’t read anyone’s yet so I’m off to visit everyone’s post later today. Enjoy your weekend! xx
I admire how active you are and how much exercise you did! Your grandson is super adorable. What a cute boy! And good luck with the half marathon.
X

Thanks so much Miri I do try to keep active that is for sure. Yes my grandson is the light of my life. His mum doesn’t like me posting many photos which I understand but it kills me as a Nan not to be able to show him off LOL:) Have a great weekendxx
Sue—it was so fun reading about your month!!
You along with a couple of the other women are so active! I really need to get on that bandwagon again! Thanks for the push and encouragement!!
I hope your scan results came back okay??
XOXO
Jodie

Yes the scans were all clear thanks Jodie! My month was so busy I’d quite forgotten about that. Now I have to catch up on everyone else’s month. Enjoy your weekend! x
It’s my first month at sentence a day – & I thoroughly enjoyed it …as I did reading yours.
Oh I’m so pleased you enjoyed it Jo! I think it is a great way to keep a diary actually. Looking forward to reading yours and then next month.
Ditto what Kathy Marris said above. You are such a devoted, attentive daughter-in-law. Your MIL is truly blessed. My mom lives in a similar facility. They have shopping days but go out to the stores. Was her shopping day there at the facility?
I shuddered looking at all of the boxes of furniture you guys had to put together. I am little help in that department, poor PC.
Your grandson is absolutely precious. Truly a doll baby. A little toughie. I see something of your husband in his little face. Love that tow head.
Going to start working on my running again so that someday I can meet up with you and your Saturday Sisters and at least hold my own at the breakfast after the run.
Thanks Leslie! Yes they brought the shopping into the facility which was a great idea. It was so lovely seeing all the old dears buying up a storm! Yes the furniture is finally together – no help from me of course! You are welcome to join our Saturday Sisters breakfasts anytime!
Oh wow Sue, what an incredibly busy but very satisfying month you’ve had. You’ve done so much for others (loved that you took your MIL’s best friend to see her) and some things for yourself and just been busy and living life well in general. I’m impressed.
It was a busy but very enjoyable month for me Jo. I do get so much satisfaction visiting my MIL and other residents at her aged care facility. I’ve actually put my name down to volunteer there.
Oh I wish I’d remembered to start doing this at the beginning of July! What the heck I’ll just start now 🙂 … and what a small world it is … just think if you’d been in Brissie on 26 June we could have met in real life!!!
Hi Janet! Yes what a coincidence that we both know Peter & Ella. It was a pity I was at the Coast on the day you met up. Perhaps there will be a next time. Have a great week!
I love all the activity with working out & running…but still taking the time to have cupcakes with the littles 😉 That’s what life is about!
Yes Rebecca Jo I love spending time with my grandson because he keeps me grounded. I run so I can be a fit Nan for him.
Life is certainly keeping you busy and despite your commitments to grandchildren and aging parents you are keeping yourself active and living life. When my parents and MIL were in their last couple of years I said that the sadness and demands of looking after their welfare was offset by the joys of grandchildren. Enjoy these special moments as you won’t get them back. Have a great week. I’ve linked up today with the Lovin Life Team.
Hi Jill I find I need to be active and exercise as that helps me cope with other areas of responsibility in my life. It is also important to keep our invdidual needs in mind as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
Enjoy your “winter” in June! How neat! Loved all your pictures!
Thanks Laura, although I’m lucky our winter is very mild as you can probably see from the photos. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by. x
I love this idea! I may have to join you for a challenge just to see if I can do it. Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh yes Jenny please join us for the challenge it is a great way to see what you have done during the month.
A sentence a day! That is such a great idea. You did photos too. That’s commitment
#teamlovinlife
Hi Leanne, you should join in too! I take photos to remind me of what I’ve done and make it more interesting for the reader. It is much easier writing a sentence than a full on journal and i love looking back at what I’ve done throughout the month. x
Sounds like you had a fantastic Month of June and I immensely enjoyed reading all about it in just a sentence each! Thanks for sharing at the Pit stop.
Pit stop Crew 🙂
Wow, Sue…
No wonder you’re sizzling! What a busy month you’ve had! So impressed with your running calendar and having a group of friends to do that with. My son is a distance runner… I am a short distance walker, lol.
What a sweet daughter in law you are as well!
Thanks Em! Yes I like to keep busy but didn’t realise how busy I was until I started writing a sentence a day LOL:) Glad you enjoyed it and hope you come back to read July!
I also think it is a great way to keep a diary. I can just about manage to do a sentence a day and maybe add a photo. Mine diary has a theme though, it is a gratitude diary.
Gratitude is important Margaretha and when I look back on my month I am grateful for the life that I have. I can’t seem to keep a journal but a sentence a day is a great way for me to document what I’m up to. Have a lovely day x
Sounds like it was a wonderful month! As always you inspire me–a half marathon??! Wow! I need to up my training!!
I love looking back over my month Christina and seeing what I actually did. Yes a 34km is next in August. x
Looks like your MIL is in a lovely place with all those gorgeous flowers around. And your grandson is so adorable. My son is 30 now, but Thomas the Tank Engine first came out (with Ringo Starr as the Conductor) when my son was a child. He loved those shows. I’m glad to see it had such staying power.
Yes Thomas is still going strong. I love that about classic children’s books and programs – they are stayers. Yes my MIL is having a ball and it is the best decision she ever made. I’m very happy for her.
