Life In Full Bloom

A Season of Living, Learning and Returning

July 31, 2026

Hello lovely,

It feels like such a long time since I last sat down to write a blog post, here on my Women Living Well After 50 website.

If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been over the past six months, the simple answer is…I’ve been busy living!

One of the highlights of my year was training for and running another marathon, this time with my daughter, Rachel who had set this as her goal for 2026. Training for a marathon isn’t just about race day—it’s months of early mornings, long weekend runs, strength training, recovery sessions and fitting everything else around the training schedule. We trained three times each week for 20 weeks, as well as two strength sessions each week and certainly went through the whole gambit of emotions as the weeks went on. It takes commitment but crossing that finish line together made every kilometre worthwhile. Sharing that journey with Rachel created memories we will both treasure forever.

Away from running, I’ve also taken on two committee roles with my local Probus Club as Social Convenor and Public Relations Officer. It’s been incredibly rewarding organising events, promoting our wonderful club, initiating and producing our new quarterly newsletter, supporting our Men’s Chorale, and helping members stay connected through friendship and shared experiences. Like any volunteer role, it’s been busy—but it’s also reminded me how important community is as we get older.

And then there’s real life.

Mike and I are preparing to move house, which means plenty of sorting, decluttering, packing and making decisions. It’s exciting, but anyone who has moved knows just how much time and energy it takes. I recently wrote in my Substack Newsletter about how we are ‘Futureproofing our life’ – Futureproofing Your Life – Are we giving in to ageing… or planning for the life we want to keep living? and in doing so The Emotional Roller Coaster that is Selling and Buying a home.

I’ve still been on Nan duty which I love each Wednesday afternoon and having fun with my grandsons during the school holidays.

Although I haven’t been writing here on the blog as often, I certainly haven’t stopped writing. I’ve been sharing my thoughts in my Women Living Well After 50 Substack newsletter, where I’ve continued writing about healthy ageing, wellbeing, mindset and embracing this stage of life. It’s become a wonderful space to connect more personally with readers, and I’ve loved building that community. I’d love you to pop over and subscribe in my new space.

I’ve also continued sharing on Instagram, reading some wonderful books, working with brands I genuinely enjoy, and reflecting on where I want Women Living Well After 50 to go in this next chapter.

“Looking back, I realise this hasn’t been a season of stepping away—it has been a season of living, learning and growing.”

Sometimes we need to fully embrace life’s experiences before we can share them with others.

Now, I’m excited to return to blogging and to bring those experiences with me.

You’ll be seeing more regular blog posts alongside my Substack newsletter, with honest conversations about healthy ageing, fitness, style, beauty, books, travel and the everyday moments that make life richer. I’ll also be sharing collaborations with brands I genuinely use and trust—products and services that I believe can make a positive difference to our lives.

The posts will be regular but not necessarily weekly – more of when I feel I have something I want to share with you.

Thank you for staying with me. Whether you’ve been reading the blog for years, following my newsletter, or connecting with me on Instagram, I truly appreciate your support.

Here’s to new beginnings, fresh inspiration, and continuing to bloom—one step, one story and one adventure at a time.

Until next time….

Sue Loncaric

Thanks, Toni. The process of selling and buying has been a bit of a whirlwind! I’m looking forward to settling down again. x

Welcome back. You’ve been busy but it will be nice to have you back on here. I rarely get to Substack and find navigating it not the easiest. Anyway, good luck with the volunteer life and the move. That’s exciting!

Thanks, Bernie. I had thought of just sticking to Substack but I’m not sure now so I’m back posting on the blog and using Substack as a newsletter. Yes selling and buying within a week of each other was pretty full on but we are definitely looking forward to our new home. x

Thank you, Natalie. It has been so long since I wrote on the blog as I’ve been sharing on Substack mostly. It feels like coming home. x

Sue!! It’s so wonderful to see you back! I actually thought I was subscribed to your Substack, but I must not have been! You’ve accomplished so much during this blog hiatus! And, selling your home to move to a one storey…good idea. I would just make sure you have enough storage. We downsized by quite a bit and lost a basement and a second storey. I have stuff stuffed everywhere. I don’t think it’s giving up but, as you put it “planning for the life” you want. Welcome back, my friend!

Thank you, Marsha for your lovely response to my return. Substack can be tricky so it is good to be back on the website. Our new home is roughly the same size which is good so hopefully we won’t have storage issues. It all happened within two weeks so it’s been a crazy time. xx

Thanks so much, Deb. I needed the break and I think that is how it will be going forward – blog when I want to and take a break when I feel the need. I always want to stay relevant and not post for the sake of it. xx

I like my down time but I do like to keep busy and active because life is too short isn’t it? Lovely to meet you Cherryl. x
