6 Quick Ways to Find Your Balance in Life Now!

July 18, 2016

My word for 2016 was Balance. Trying to find the Balance in my life which seemed to be spinning out of control. In this month’s feature article which I have written for Miller’s The Seeing Me Project I concentrate on 6 quick ways we can find balance in our life right now.

You can also get to know me a little more as I talk about how my life changed when I retired and didn’t exactly go to plan.  Over the next few weeks I will be writing about ways to find balance in our lives.  To gain that perfect or near perfect level between work and play.  Between giving of ourselves to others and finding time for ourselves to enjoy some ‘Me Time”.

Never get too busy

Until then I ‘d love you to click through and read my article and would appreciate if you left a comment on how you find Balance in your life. Here is an extract…….

How do we find Balance at get off the treadmill of life?

At 55 I was fortunate enough to take early retirement.

“Fantastic!” I thought – “I’ll have time to do things that I want to do at my own pace after working full time for most of my working life”.

My husband was happy as he had retired and was looking forward to us spending more time together including travelling and having fun.

After two months reality hit – what was I going to do?

    Love the quote, Sue.
I spent so many years of my life making a living that it took me a brain tumor to start to make a life.
It’s never too late to restart, but why not getting it right in first place?
I’m heading to your guest post.
    Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for reading the guest post. Sometimes it really takes something dramatic like what happened to you to make us wake up to ourselves. You are an inspiration to me!

This quote is so true! sometimes we get so caught up in it all that we lose sight of what is important, and I know for myself that I need to strike a better work/life balance!

It is so hard Charlotte, especially if you have a family as well. I’m retired and still find it hard to get it right but at least I am starting to find some sort of balance that I feel comfortable with. Have a great day!

I enjoyed your article on the ‘seeing me project’, I could not find a place to comment (Internet), I am really looking forward to your articles. After a recent wakeup call from my doctor I am seeking greater balance in all these areas.

I’m reading this just after getting off the Yellowstone River, where I was fly fishing. Balance? Yep.

Great tips and a perfect quote from Dolly Parton. I’ve kind of found a balance by making my passion my career!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 21, 2016 at 16:49

The perfect way Lois – loving what you do and it shows! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Love these tips. And no time like the present to see if you are doing what you want with your life and your time. So crazy that three posts by great midlife women were about saying “no” and harnessing our time!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 21, 2016 at 16:50

There must be something in this saying ‘no’ then Cathy! Three posts can’t be wrong LOL:) Thanks for your encouraging words – have a great day!

  • Reply LISA CARPENTER July 21, 2016 at 11:58

So inspirational! Kudos to you for achieving balance. I’m more of a teeter-totter when it comes to balance, going way too far one way then way to far the other. Working on using NO more often to balance things out. Thanks for the reminder!

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 21, 2016 at 16:51

Oh thank you Lisa what a lovely compliment – you have made my day! It isn’t easy saying ‘no’ but at least if we try sometimes we will get it right! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by. x

It is difficult sometimes to strike the right balance between the journey and the destination. You want to achieve your goal, but everything (and everyone) around you should not suffer in the process. Your use of “Balance” is a perfect fit.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 25, 2016 at 16:39

Thanks Bill! It isn’t as easy as it sounds but it is amazing when you take a step back the world doesn’t actually end!

  • Reply Wendy July 22, 2016 at 06:59

Ah, balance…every time I think I’ve achieved it, I fall of the beam! 😉 You inspire me with the way you seem to have time to do the things you want to do in real life, yet keep your blog going and growing so well. Now Im heading over to your guest post to hopefully learn how to do that better myself (the mat under that beam is getting hard!).

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 25, 2016 at 16:41

You aren’t the only one Wendy – we all do. The secret is to keep trying and I think it does get easier. I’m flattered that you think I have it all together but some days it certainly doesn’t feel that way! 🙂

Good tips! I’m really struggling with balance in my life at the moment.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric July 31, 2016 at 12:49

As a Mum I can understand how you are ‘time poor’ and life can get out of balance very easily. Make time for yourself though when you can.

Perfectly written Jennifer! I like the idea of coming back ‘home’ into your own centre – beautiful. x
