I’m a co-guest host for Wednesday Words & Whimsy – 4 reasons Why I love the blogging community

February 28, 2024

This week I’m delighted to be a guest co-host of #WWWhimsy with Debbie Harris from Deb’s World.

Each Wednesday I contribute to the Wednesday Words & Whimsy link up which the lovely Min from Write of the Middle started a few months ago. Min has been going through a tough time of late, organising her Mum to move into aged care amongst other things, which is something many of you will have experienced.

When Min put out the call to Deb and I asking us if we could take over the hosting duties for a time, we both immediately agreed. We wanted to support Min and take the pressure off her and still keep her link up going. I felt honoured to be asked and also encouraged that Min felt comfortable enough to ask for help rather than trying to juggle several balls in the air all at once. Self-care is paramount and especially when life is throwing challenges and responsibilities our way.

We all wish Min the best and send healing thoughts to her Mum for a speedy recovery. Min has written an update post which I’ve included in case you missed what’s going on. UPDATED: Guest Hosts for #WWWhimsy for an indefinite period! – Write of the Middle

That’s what bloggers do – we support each other.

4 reasons why I love the blogging community

  1. Only bloggers understand why we blog – do you find that family and friends can’t really grasp why you blog? I know that was my experience and also when I wanted to start the Podcast I had the same reaction.
  2. Blogging develops into lasting friendships – having blogged for over 9 years now, I have made some special friendships with other bloggers. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet several in person which was very special.
  3. Bloggers are super supportive – I’m sure if Min had asked any of her blogging friends they would all have jumped at the chance to help out. Bloggers understand that life can get in the way and are willing to help either by covering hosting duties or providing guest posts.
  4. Bloggers provide inspiration and motivation – I know for me I am constantly inspired by blog posts from the bloggers I follow and motivated to keep my blog going or to try new things.

You can find the link below and don’t be put off by the message that is isn’t working that’s a glitch I didn’t want to bother Min with and we can work around it.

My focus this week has been about Finding Courage to Follow your Passion. I discussed this with my friend and author Joanne Tracey in Episode 2 of Season 7 of the Women Living Well After 50 Podcast. I’ll be linking the post up below.

I’m looking forward to reading your posts and comments.

Have a lovely week!

Hi, Sue – Thank you for stepping up with Debbie to help out Min. I wholeheartedly agree with your reasons that you love the blogging community. Those are my reasons too! I always say that I came to the blogging world because of the writing, but I stayed because of the friendships!

Hi Donna I love your last thought: ‘came to the blogging world because of the writing, but I stayed because of the friendships!’ That is blogging in a nutshell. x

I commented on Debbie’s post that I have been amazed at how open and kind the blogging community is. I should have also included welcoming and helpful!

I’m so glad to be getting to “know” both you and Debbie!

Gosh today’s gone by quickly- finally made it in time to say (same as I to Debbie) Thank You- thank you for being there – being there for Min and giving her peace of mind during this rather stressful time she’s going through.
There really are some lovely people out there in the blogging community

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 29, 2024 at 05:48

Hi Cathy, it’s what we do isn’t it? We step in when needed. I agree there are some lovely people in the blogging community. x

So glad you could both step in for her and take over while she’s taking care of her mom. I’m sure she is much relieved to have one less thing to deal with. I completely agree that only bloggers seem to truly understand other bloggers and why we blog.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric February 29, 2024 at 05:49

Hi Joanne, it was a ‘no-brainer’ really. Min needed our help and we were happy to oblige. I’m sure everyone would have done the same. Have a lovely week. x

Thanks so much Sue and Deb for helping me out. With spending every day up at the hospital I have no free time for blogging at present and I’m exhausted when I get home. Thanks so much for helping me out with #WWWhimsy – it’s so very appreciated! Hoping I can get back to a bit more of a normal life again before too long! xoxo

My pleasure (& Deb’s too) Min. Take whatever time you need and know we are all here to support you. xx

How caring and wonderful that you stepped up Sue. Yes blogging has some great positives but can add pressure so I am so pleased that Min realized she could ask for help.

    • Reply Sue Loncaric March 3, 2024 at 16:51

Hi Bernie, I think we would all do the same and it isn’t anything too difficult. I’m glad we could help Min out x

Sue, you were one of the first people I “met” in the blogging world back in 2015. I’m glad that we’re still friends, even after I left blogging for several years…and then returned! 😊

I’m so pleased we are still in touch, Wendy. I remember you sent me a Christmas tree decoration from the White House and I always think of you when I place it on my Christmas tree. xx
